Breaking news, last minute! We are now offering our beloved Grange de Richateau for rent: THE LOCATION: Situated halfway between Paris and Lyon, Auxerre and Dijon. Our Grange is part of the small, typical, and friendly hamlet of Richâteau, at an altitude of 400m, at the end of a quiet country road. It is 2km from Lormes (58), a lively little town in the Morvan Regional Natural Park. Here, the peace and quiet are truly impressive. Nature is truly preserved here, the diversity of flora and fauna is remarkable, and the starry skies are renowned. We are on the edge of a forest and surrounded by meadows. The unique landscape of the Morvan des Sommets et des Lacs (a local area) is made up of hills, large lakes, forests, and meadows for livestock farming. THE HOUSE: La Grange de Richateau is an old barn that we converted into a home, initially for our family. Stone, wood, and terracotta tiles are featured. We offer accommodation on three levels: On the first floor, forming a very large open-plan room (9m ceiling height) where you can enjoy the sunrise and sunset: a large living room with a west-facing bay window opening onto a terrace overlooking our meadow, its trees, and the Yonne valley; a dining room with an east-facing bay window on the same level, overlooking the hamlet; a very well-equipped kitchen; a laundry room; and a toilet. On the other levels, there are 4 bedrooms, 3 double beds, and 4 single beds: 1 bedroom with bathroom and toilet; 1 wooden mezzanine; 3 bedrooms (1 bedroom with a double bed, 1 bedroom with a double bed and a single bed, 1 bedroom with 3 single beds); 1 bathroom and toilet. If needed, you have underfloor heating, central heating with radiators, and you can enjoy a wood fire with the stove. SURROUNDINGS & ACTIVITIES: Our Morvan is a wild place, preserved from tourism and mass agriculture. With The mountains, it is one of the least polluted places in France. In 2025, the Morvan Regional Natural Park will officially become an "International Dark Sky Reserve," a must-see for astronomy enthusiasts! It is known historically as a land of resistance and hospitality. You will find shops in Lormes, a 3-minute drive away or a 25-minute walk via a beautiful panoramic path. The gastronomy of the Morvan is renowned; you will find good local produce and excellent restaurants. This town of character is now famous for its art galleries (drawings, paintings, sculptures, photos, antiques, creations, decoration) and its many artistic events throughout the year (jazz concerts, performances, etc.). Lovers of flea markets, antiques, and vintage design will be delighted. Numerous hiking, trail running, mountain biking, quad biking, horseback riding, pony or donkey rides. All this amidst forests, meadows, and hills. Several paths of varying lengths start from La Grange. The Chalaux and Cure streams are known for canoeing, kayaking, rafting, and hydrospeeding. The Goulot pond in Lormes and the large wild lake of Chaumeçon are 20 minutes away. The lakes and rivers are magnificent for swimming. With all its lakes and rivers, the Morvan is a dream destination for anglers. For climbers, there are even several climbing sites. In Lormes, you can also rent a tennis court. As for heritage sites: we are a 10-minute drive from Vauban's Château de Bazches and 20 minutes from Vézelay. There are many castles and medieval villages in the surrounding area. And of course, for those who want to relax in peace and quiet, breathe, unwind, recharge, cook, recover, meditate, sleep… The Morvan is perfect for that.
