Our country cottage has been 100% completely renovated and is a peaceful place for a destination or a great alternative to local commercial lodging.

Enjoy the sunrise over the mountains and back pasture and the sunset from one of the front porch swings The large front and side yards as well as the back pasture are great for getting outside and taking a stroll and enjoying some fresh country air.

Our cottage features 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, washer and dryer, covered porches, and a country view. The spacious and well stocked kitchen provides dine-in options or a break from fast food.

Our cottage is conveniently located for our guests to enjoy the Blue Ridge Parkway, New River Trail State Park, Historic downtowns of Hillsville, Galax, and Mt. Airy, Floyd Fest, the Fiddler’s Convention, and of course, the Hillsville Flea Market.

Charming home in Hillsville

Location was easy to find and easily accessible. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Beds were a bit too firm, but overall it was a great house. Would definitely recommend.

Country house

Our family of 4 had a nice stay at this country house with modern touches. The host was extremely responsive and I received check-in info days before which was a stress reliever. We saw groundhogs and so many deer. It was sweet slowing down and being in nature. The house had everything we needed: Keurig and coffee, hairdryer, linens, towels etc.

Beautiful place

We stayed one night on our way across the country. Beautiful little house. It was very clean and a nice quiet place to relax after a long drive.

Clean and relaxing

The house was perfect for our family. We appreciated the decor and thoughtfulness. Our kids loved to watch the cows from the back deck, and we enjoyed sitting out there watching the fireflies. The kids also loved the play nook upstairs. Communication was great, and check out was simple and straightforward. We will stay again if we are in the area.

Fun Time in Hillsville VA

My parents and I had a great stay at Sunrise Retreat. The house is very beautiful and has everything you need for a getaway. Just bring your clothes, toiletries and some food if you want to cook and you will be good to go. Great views from the property too. We even had some surprise snow towards the end of our vacation. We enjoyed exploring Hillsville and the surrounding areas and everyone we met was very nice. We also enjoyed meeting and talking to the owners. We hope to be able to make it back to stay at this property soon.

Great Place!

We have stayed here twice this year and I don’t know why anyone would stay in a hotel or anywhere else if this place is available. It is quiet, recently remodeled, and has everything you need for your family. The owners are wonderful and easy to work with. This place is now our go-to place when we head south for trips.

Cozy cottage

The house was fresh and clean and felt new. It matched the pictures and description to a tee. It was the perfect place for my family’s weekend getaway. The beds were all comfortable. Everyone commented on how great the bathroom was. We loved it all and will be back soon.

Short getaway

Sunset Resort Relaxation

The cottage was such a cute and cozy place. Very clean ! Myself and a couple of school friends enjoyed our weekend getaway visiting a few shops in the area as well as in the Mount Airy area. Definitely would consider staying there again. Thank you !! Kim

Nice house & location

The location of this property is very accommodating. We were able to be in town in only a few minutes and only 20 minutes out from a Walmart! The house was very nice and clean!

Relaxing stay in a lovely cottage

Beautifully remodeled cottage home in picturesque setting. We appreciated the well-equipped kitchenen and light touch with decor that gives a modern yet cozy feel. Morning coffee on the back porch was perfect.

Charming

We did not get to spend much time at the house because there were many things we wanted to do in the surrounding area of the parkway and state parks. However when we would finally get home, our grandkids had a great time playing and once they were in bed we had a great time relaxing on the back porch listening to the cows. We were even able to put together a puzzle as a family. Very nice accommodations and we would love to stay there again.

Back to the Country and Days Gone By

Wonderful cottage home has been meticulously updated. Tasteful decor with quality appliances. Everything was simple, crisp and clean. Lovely farmland at the back and beautiful green rolling hills against a backdrop of trees and mountains. Very safe area with really nice locals. A refreshingly slower pace, yet everything you need is close by. Cannot think of anything more I could have wanted for my short get-away.

Anfitrión: Ed and Susan Naff

Hello, we are Ed and Susan Naff. Our son and daughter-in-law are assisting us in sharing our cottage with you. We purchased this house in 2020 and spent the majority of 2021 fully renovating this great place. Susan grew up next door and played in this house with her friend as a child. We moved into Susan's homeplace after Ed retired and have worked hard to keep it in a condition that would make her parents proud.

Susan's family is the Allen family, a name very familiar to Carroll County natives. Ed grew up in Floyd county. After meeting in Radford 56 years ago, we have built a great life together.

During the spring and summer a local farmer grazes cattle in the pasture behind the cottage.
