Found a roach in one of the beds, bathtub won’t drain, old pictures are the ones on the listing some things have changed. The hot tub only had one jet working and the hot tub stunk really bad. Beds were uncomfortable. Road getting to the place is not the best just have to watch what you’re doing so you don’t drag. Overall it definitely could have been better for the price I paid for..

Hi Austen! I'm sorry to hear that the accommodation didn't meet your expectations. If a guest reaches out to us during their stay, we are quick to respond and assist with whatever they may need. Of course, after a guest leaves, there's not much we can do. Hot tubs are cleaned every stay and treated with bromide. The beds are the same beds we have in all our accommodations. They aren't specialty, but they shouldn't be uncomfortable. The road to the cabin is gravel. We drive a Toyota Camry and don't have any issues. We hope you have a better stay next time. All the best! Kim's cabin was the perfect choice for a weekend getaway! The views from the cabin were scenic and green, the indoors had a well-cleaned yet rustic charm, with good amenities (the kitchen was very well stocked). Elijah was very communicative, welcoming, and accommodating -- he went out of his way to help us get our car out when it got stuck in a ditch! The hot tub on the property was the star of the show!! We highly recommend this place.

Cabin was very clean and comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked with cookware. We especially loved the location. Completely in the middle of nowhere! Only us and nature! Our host was amazing and very responsive to messages! The hot tub was warm and clean, would just have preferred it to be on the deck instead of beside the cabin. Overall it was a 10/10 stay!

Very nice. Much more secluded than I thought it would be and a little further from civilization, but if that is what you're looking for it's perfect. Be aware that there is a cliff close by so if you have kids, let them know not to go near it! Great communication with the owners. Hot tub was amazing.

Perfect secluded cabin

We had a great stay at Kim's retreat! Nice and clean secluded cabin to getaway for the weekend. Nothing fancy, but has all the necessities. Of note, there is a fire-pit but you must provide your own firewood (which there are plenty of places selling it for $5 a stack).

Beyond our expectations

Kims retreat is a place we would love to return. For families, please know though that the house’s property is on a cliff. So watch the kiddos closely. We can’t wait to return !

RRG Cabin

This is a nice, cozy cabin. It's private even though there are other nearby cabins. It was well-appointed for a weekend trip. It's a drive to get to it, but they provide detailed directions that are accurate. I would definitely rebook!

Our Chop Chestnut cabins are secluded and offer much privacy. Being in a rural area means cell service and WiFi are not always as reliable as in the city. We are clear about this in our listings as well as in our communications before arrival. We are sorry to hear that the cell service/WiFi did not meet your expectations during your stay. We are sorry you were dissatisfied with the hot tub. While it is fully operational, we have been and continue to await the delivery of a new cover for it.

Found cockroaches on our last day, some alive and lethargic and some half eaten. Normal signs when the property has been treated for them. So this was a known issue, and they chose to rent the cabin out anyhow. Host didnt seem too concerned, just said we should have told them sooner and they would have sent someone. We told them about other issues on our first day, and they didnt offer to fix that either.Hot tub worked "okay", half the jets didnt work and there isnt a real cover, just a patio furniture cover theyve draped over the top.Moisture issues in the bathroom, the vent fan isnt ducted to the outside, just between the floors. They have the water pressure turned way down, so the shower is barely enough to rinse your hair, and the tub drains super slow, so you are ankle deep in water by the time your shower is done. Probably why they turned down the water valve.Ceiling fan in the main bedroom was coated in a thick layer of dust. Its really too bad, the property is nice and the old cabin could be really cool, they just dont maintain it.

Hi Dusty, I'm sorry to hear that you're stay didn't match your expectations. Kim's retreat is a really neat cabin, and we work hard to maintain it for our guests. If a guest reaches out to us for assistance during their stay we are quick to respond and make every effort to meet whatever need may come up. There's not much we can do after the guests leave. We had a temporary cover in place while we ordered a new cover for the hot tub. You'll be happy to hear we have a new cover installed now. Kim's is an older cabin with character. We've remodeled it, put finishing touches in, and hope that our guest will enjoy this unique space, inside and out. We wish you all the best, and hope you enjoy your next stay even more!

Great cabin and property

The cabin and property were great. The listing however was not accurate. It is a 20 minute drive to the natural bridge, not 12 minutes as stated. Also, there was no wifi in the cabin as stated.

I am requesting a full refund. This place is dangerous. After the grandkids and I sat in the hot tub for a while, I got out and was going to put the top on, and noticed a snake skin on the ground, behind the hot tub. I took a picture and sent it to the host. He said they would be out to check it out. We'll, we were returning back to the cabin while they were still there. They took the sides of the tub off and lifted one end of the tub up and 9 copper head snakes came out. No telling what was under the cabin. And then not a couple hundred feet from the cabin is a 300 foot cliff straight down, no signs no nothing to stop someone from walking right off the edge. If someone showed up at night with kids, it could be disastrous. Shut it down.

Cozy, comfty, relaxing, twenty min to a tailhead

Lovely place for my husband and I for a getaway. The place was clean and well organized, they had everything we needed. They asked that you bring your own shampoo and toothpaste, I would recommend also bringing some cooking oil or butter and your own coffee. We got to watch the lunar eclipse, it was beautiful! My highlander had no problem getting around the terrain even after the rain. The hottub was amazing after a long hike! I would definitively visit again, highly recommend.

The cabin was cute. One of the knobs on the stove won’t work or turn . Not a big deal. Only used one burner and the remote for the fan/ac was missing in the one upstairs bedroom which was fine since the remote in the other room worked for it. The view was beautiful. The road and gravel to travel to the cabin was a little rough. But overall it was a nice stay for the weekend! The property manager was great communication and checking in. Would stay again!

Kim's Retreat

Overall the stay was nice but compare to other rental, I did not rate as high. Travel on one lane road to get to cabin which was not mentioned. Lots of blind spots and dangerous with oncoming vehicles

Very nice

The stay was nice. Managers were top notch. Very clean. Comfortable beds. Living room wasn’t as comfortable, tv too small- sofa was simply a place to sit. Would have preferred to know about the drop off edge - what; about 200 plus feet down Rock.. if child or animals were to fall .. I’m not sure they would survive or if we could have helped at all. That in itself; was the most concern for me.! Otherwise clean, safe, place

Quaint, cozy cabin

Beautiful view! Very cute inside. Clean. Enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit. For people coming from london. Once you GPS slade, ky and get there, the directions were a little confusing. Once you go under the parkway bridge, the campton road part got us confused because a few of us went right at the dead-end instead of left because there is a sign with a arrow pointing to the right that says Campton but we need to go left. Also, the “green hinkle sign” says its on the left and right both in same sentence. Other than that, the directions were spot on! Overall wonderful stay. Easy check in and communication!

Beautiful location. A bit remote though and some rough roads, but doable. Pros: Again beautiful location, nice little kitchen, well appointed. Bathroom was nice and a nice size and had plenty of towels. Had satellite tv which was a nice in such a remote location. Beds firm, but comfortable. Cons: The lack of a handrail that goes all the way up the stairs was very concerning for me. There is a partial one near the bottom, but at the top, and there is an awkward turn in stairs, there is none making it hard for me to feel safe descending. The individual heating/ac unit in the right side bedroom didn't seem to be working properly. Also the living room, dining room have large windows but with no curtains. Being remote there isn't anyone who can see in, but everyone in our party felt it strange to have large windows with no curtains to close at night. Just a little creepy. But then again this was Halloween weekend LOL . Overall, nice little place, just a little remote, beautiful. Needs better hand rail for stairs.

Beautiful place.

The two of us and our dog stayed for a 4 day 3 night getaway. The cabin was beautiful and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay in the woods. Hottub was incredible and even though it rained a bunch while we were there, we still had a wonderful time and enjoyed our stay. Far enough out for quiet and seclusion but close enough to town and everything fun to be had at the Gorge. We will be going back to stay again shortly.
