Entire Bear Den (cozy cabin) close to Glacier

Bear Den (cabin) is located in Essex, MT halfway between East and West Glacier. It's a great place to rest and fuel up for your adventures either in the park or in the Great Bear Wilderness.
Absolutely no pets.
There are hiking maps available too.
The cabin has everything you need for your stay, we do provide towels, shampoo, conditioner. The kitchen is fully equipped with all appliances.
The outside pictures will be posted in spring.
Please note there is no cell service from West Glacier to East Glacier and most of the park too.

Host answered any questions we had quickly, was very helpful. There was a binder in the cabin with all kinds of info on the park, trail distances, local food in surroundibg towns, it came in handy!! Cabin was very clean and cozy and it was well stocked with ammenities. Thank you, this made our stay very enjoyable

Little cabin in the woods. .

Enjoyed this cabin for just the 2 of us. Perfect size, cozy, warm and inviting. Love the bear motif! Great location between West & East Glacier. Owner very accommodating.

Quiet little cabin

Cute cabin. It was just what we needed for our stay. They had maps and recommendations for hikes and things to do and places to eat in a book. Even had bear spray so we didn’t have to buy any.

Cabin in the woods

Cute cabin

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin! We were thankful for the air conditioner and had a lovely evening grilling burgers and sipping wine by the fire pit. It was nicely placed about halfway between West and East Glacier.

The Pros: Good location situated half way between West and East side of the park but there is still one-half hour drive to either side so factor that in to daily plan. It would be a good idea to take a portable heater and lamp as it is an older cabin and the lighting is a challenge. The bathroom was cold. However, the housekeeper was very nice and prompt and brought both items to us.

The right fit

This property was a perfect fit for what I was looking for. The location is halfway between west glacier and east glacier so I could visit both sides of the park. The property has a cozy up-north cabin feel to it but with all the creature comforts needed.

Cute cabin

Me and my wife rented this for a week for our honeymoon. We loved the location, it's out of the way enough that it felt like we were in the woods but it was only 30 minutes from west glacier and about the same for east glacier. The kitchen was well stocked and we had everything we needed. The owner was very friendly and even asked us part of the way through the week if we needed anything. Overall a very cute cabin at a very good price point. We will definitely be returning in the future!

Little Gem!

Let me first start by saying my wife and I have rented well over 50 properties from VRBO in the last 20 years. We always look for little gems off the beaten path to enhance the overall experience of the location. This one was no exception. Varvara Is a wonderful host and the property is beautiful. The cabin is well appointed with everything you need from firewood to utensils and everything in between. The cabin is beautifully decorated and is super cozy. That being said the only reason I gave a four star is because what is not disclosed is the fact that the cabin is about 40 feet from HWY 2, the main artery between the glaciers, and for my own personal taste it was hard to sit outside and enjoy the millions of stars in the BIG Montana sky when you hear traffic flying by at 70 miles an hour. Would I stay here again? YES! The location is perfect for exploring the area and it is truly a Little Gem.

Nice little cabin in the woods!

Very comfortable and nicely appointed cabin in the woods. Bed was very comfy! Furniture was great. Stayed 3 nights and cooked all meals. Kitchen and grill were great! Close enough to Glacier. Only two wall heaters. Took a little to get used to.

Comfy Cabin

Nice property with a relaxing feel. Spacious for the two of us. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable bed. Quiet, wooded neighborhood. Able to use wi-fi . We enjoyed our time at the Bear Den.

Great Place

The house was in a great location for visiting both the west and east sides of Glacier National Park. The house had everything that we needed. Highly recommend and look forward to visiting again.

Glacier finally!!!!

Had wanted to go to glacier for a good little while And finally got to check that box🤪this cabin worked!! Kitchen well supplied even had a toaster. Shower a little small but worked well Loved all the tp and good quality of it. The heaters were super. It was a little dark in the kitchen area so we moved floor lamps to that area and that worked. Thought hand rail on stairs would have been nice. (I have balance issues and it was hailing) there was no lplace to set luggage in bedroom so we used shuffle board in living room. great little fire pit and lots of wood All in all a comfortable place thanks for the hospitality.

A Hidden Gem

This place was great! Location is perfect for exploring both sides of the park. Varv Ara is an amazing host- she went above and beyond for us and replied very quickly during out stay. Would not hesitate to stay here again (or at another one of of her properties). Highly recommended! We miss it already…

Mid Point location for Glacier NP

We had a comfortable stay. The kitchen is very well equipped with new pots, pans, and cutlery. There is traffic noise from Hwy 2. It is not bad when the windows are closed.
