Overall, we had an enjoyable weekend celebrating my wife's birthday! The host was always available and responsive. The entire rental was clean. We would highly recommend staying here!

Great place to stay! We take a trip about every 3 or 4 months and always rent from VRBO. This is the best cabin we have rented in the last 2 years. The host puts a lot of time into making sure you have all the maps for trails and amenities needed for the trip. Communication is great, the cabin felt like a home away from home!

Geof and the place were both great! It was very easy to get in, and the place had absolutely everything you could ever want or need. The area surrounding is also beautiful! And there was a bonus that the neighbor's dog came up for a quick visit :) over all, a really good stay! We would absolutely come back if we were in the area again!

Cleanest and most thoughtful VRBO we have stayed in. We had everything we needed. Loved the guest reference binder to help with hikes and local establishments. Hot tub was clean and HOT. Just perfect.

if you are planning on visiting red river gorge then stay here! there is no point in looking at any other listings on this website or any other. & no i am not being hyperbolic in the slightest. Geof went above & beyond to ensure our trip was absolutely incredible! he was extremely accommodating to the special circumstances that befell us during our stay which we cannot thank him enough for! not only is the cabin clean, private, & comfortable but it also comes with everything you could possibly need! Geof truly thought of everything when stocking this place which made our stay immensely convenient! this is an amazing place to stay whether you are a family, or staying with friends, but especially if you are a couple!

We loved our short stay at Sheltowee Cabin, the place was clean, comfortable and private, with great proximity to just about anything you’d want to do in RRG. The host is exceptional—responsive and helpful, generous with advise, and thoughtfully provides all kinds of area reference resources for guests so they can get as much out of their time as they’d like without having to do a lot of research an trial-and-error exploring. We will definitely be back!

This property was very clean and well appointed. The hot tub was a big plus. AC/heating worked well though not much in need at this time of year. The kitchen is well supplied with dishes, cookware and silverware. A top of the line clothes washer and dryer are available. Will highly likely return to this property for a return trip to the Red River Gorge. Very much enjoyed.

I’m a long-time distance runner and backpacker, and the Red River Gorge completely stole my heart the first time I explored its trails. The quiet forests, the sandstone cliffs, the sense of peace you can only find out here—it all just clicked for me. I ended up buying this little getaway on a whim in 2021, and it’s become my personal retreat whenever I need to reset, breathe, and reconnect with nature.
I’ve been slowly upgrading the place with the same care I put into planning a great trail day—thoughtfully, intentionally, and with the goal of making it a spot where people can truly unwind. Sharing it with guests feels natural, because I want others to experience the same calm, beauty, and adventure that made me fall in love with the Gorge in the first place.
I hope your time here gives you the same sense of peace and wonder that keeps me coming back.

This is a hill runner's paradise and as I clean up the back bluffs and build trails it can be fun for the rock climbers and hikers. This place is no more than 30 minutes from almost all the trailheads and closer to much more. It is easily accessed by a paved county road, yet there are no other cabins or houses in sight.
