Great location with wonderful hosts, Wolfgang and Christa. The house is oozing with charm, but needs to be updated on the inside.

Vielen Dank, Marshell, für deine freundlichen Worte! Es freut uns sehr, dass dir der Charme unserer Jugendstilvilla von 1910 und unsere Gastfreundschaft gefallen haben. Wir legen großen Wert darauf, das historische Ambiente zu bewahren und gleichzeitig den Komfort stetig zu verbessern – so wurden das Bad im Untergeschoss und das WC im Obergeschoss vor etwa drei Jahren erneuert, und ganz neu hinzugekommen ist das zusätzliche Gäste-WC im Erdgeschoss. Wir würden uns sehr freuen, dich wieder bei uns begrüßen zu dürfen! We’re happy you enjoyed your stay – you’re always welcome back!

The house was big, plenty of room and had great character. It was nice to have multiple bathrooms and a dishwasher. The location was ideal - 5 minutes walk to old town and less than 10 to train station.

We had a wonderful stay! The house was incredibly spacious and felt like a true home away from home. The location was excellent—we were just a short walk from the Christmas markets and restaurants. The home was well-stocked with everything we could possibly need. The hosts put a lot of thought into the guest experience and provided a lot of helpful information. They were kind and attentive throughout our stay. We would definitely stay here again!

Lovely house

We had a great week staying in Gengenbach. The house was lovely with lots of space and the location was great- only a few minutes walk from the town, pool and station. Anja was available if we had any queries and check in/out was quick and simple. Would recommend and would stay again.

Our stay at Villa Beckmann was perfect. The location of the house on the edge of historical Gengenbach was fantastic. A beautiful setting. House is comfortable and the children loved it. We appreciated the history and architecture. The house has great views - the trains and river were appreciated! Five star, thank you

Perfect location to enjoy Gengenbach

An elegant, spacious property ideally located at the edge of this lovely town. We regularly walked the short distance to the many restaurants and cafes and the younger members of our group enjoyed the nearby tennis courts and open air swimming pool. We also enjoyed many walks direct from the house in the hills behind us to discover marvellous views of the vally and town below.

Christmas in Gengenbach

The house was great for a family vacation. Very spacious, with a large dining room to spend time in, a well appointed kitchen, and several large and cozy bedrooms. The house is old but well maintained and pretty well insulated - on the coldest nights, the wood stove did a good job of heating the common areas, though it took some time. Overall, it was a very cool place to spend the holidays, and we'd happily return.

Lovely family home

Lovely family home that was ideal for our party of five adults and one toddler. Incredibly easy walk to the shops, cafes, bakeries, and the train station. The kitchen is the most well-equipped of any place we have every stayed, and it was really fun to cook meals with our family. Host was very responsive to all our questions and very quickly sorted a small issue with the laundry. It was our first time visiting the Black Forest and the house really made our stay so enjoyable. We hope to visit again soon!

Lovely house with plenty of space and well positioned. Great for teenagers / young adults as there was lots of room to spread out and a good Internet connection. The house is very interesting with lots of unique features including balconies and roof terraces. We enjoyed trips to Europa Park, Freiburg, Strasbourg and a ruined castle.The only issue is that the car parking spaces are narrow, and it can be a little difficult to access especially if (like us) you have a big car.Overall though it was a great stay and I would recommend this property.

A charming place for a gathering of family or friends

This house is spacious and full of character, with large, comfortable rooms. It has been nicely restored and is very well equipped (except for a shortage of sharp kitchen knives). The beds are excellent, and the plumbing and heating system have been fully renovated. The house is adjacent to the old center of Gengenbach and not far from the heart of the Black Forest by car. There is a parking lot across the street as well as free parking on Friedrichstrasse.This was a perfect place for a group of friends to gather over New Year's, and it was even decorated for the holidays. We recommend the Villa Beckmann without reservation.

Visiting from America

Location of the property is perfect. Walking into town, local restaurants, museums, town square is wonderful. Train station was very close - was an easy 45 ride to Strausburg, France. Grocery store 5 minutes away. Kitchen had everything you need to make meals. Outside patio and upstairs balconies were very cozy. Beds comfortable. We brought our own Firestick for the TV so we would have access to English shows. Easy install. Any directions left by the owners were in German but with Google Lens we could easily translate, same goes for restaurant menus etc. The home overall had loads of Old World charm but the interior decor could use a bit of an uplift. Parking was a bit confusing but we got it worked out with the owners.

Eine ganz besondere Unterkunft

Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt! Das Haus ist geräumig, liebevoll eingerichtet und mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht. Besonders toll die Dachterrasse und die Nähe zur Altstadt von Gengenbach. In der Umgebung kann man einiges unternehmen: Wandern, Radeln, Ausflug nach Bamberg... Vielen Dank!

Tolle Villa

Große Wohnung mit viel Ausstattung und schöner Lage. Etwas abseits an einem Park aber auch in direkter Nähe zur Altstadt. Wir haben den Aufenthalt zu viert sehr genossen. Die Waschmaschine darf erst nach einer Woche benutzt werden, aber der Vermieter kam uns mit einem Angebot entgegen. Kommunikation war sehr gut.

Tolles Haus!

Wir haben unseren Urlaub in der Villa sehr genossen. Das Haus hat viel Charme mit seinen knarzenden Dielen und den alten Beschlägen an Türen und Fenstern. Die Lage war auch toll. Die Einrichtung war auch sehr schön. Ein paar Küchenuntensilien mehr (z.B. scharfe Messer) hätte ich mir gewünscht. Im Großen und Ganzen hat alles gepasst und das Haus ist wirklich etwas besonderes.

Sehr schöne Jugenstil-Villa

Ein wirklich sehr schönes großes Haus mit einer gut ausgestatteten Küche und einem Gasgrill im Garten. In der Beschreibung sind 5 Badezimmer angegeben, es sind aber nur 2 und dazu kommt noch 1 Gäste-WC. Die 2 Zimmer unter dem Dach teilen noch ein gemeinsames Waschbecken im Flur. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und die Zeit in der Villa und unter der Weinlaube sehr genossen.

Charming, Spacious Period Home Makes a Great Home Base for Exploring SW Germany

Villa Beckmann is an airy, clean house with modern conveniences and plenty of cozy nooks and balconies. It is situated in the picture-book town of Gengenbach. Many restaurants, cafés, and shops within a few minutes' walk. The property manager was very helpful and friendly and is a font of knowledge about the area. The house makes a great home base for car excursions to Strasbourg and Baden-Baden and the higher areas of the Black Forest to the south.

Wunderschöne Villa, sehr zentrale Lage

Die Villa hat uns allen ausreichend Platz und Rückzugsmöglichkeiten geboten. Durch die Lage, ca. 2/3 Minuten fußläufig zum historischen Stadtzentrum und neben einem großen Park (mit Spielplatz und Mini-Zoo), ist die Umgebung sehr leicht zu erkunden. Anja (Ansprechpartnerin vor Ort) hat uns viele Tipps gegeben und ist immer zur Stelle, sollte man Hilfe benötigen - vielen Dank nochmal dafür.

Herr Dr. Franken und seine Brüder waren ausgesprochen liebe und angenehme Gäste. Die Kommunikation war von Anfang an herzlich, unkompliziert und auf eine sehr angenehme, wertschätzende Weise. Besonders schön: Durch kleine, durchdachte Verbesserungen ist ihr Besuch auch nach der Abreise noch spürbar. So wurde unser Bücherschrank nun thematisch und nach Autoren sortiert – eine tolle Idee, die wir sehr gerne beibehalten haben. In Sachen Sauberkeit und Ordnung kann man nur sagen: vorbildlich! Die Wohnung wurde in perfektem Zustand hinterlassen. Zum Abschied haben sie uns zudem hilfreiche Hinweise zu kleinen Reparaturen gegeben – sehr aufmerksam und wertvoll für uns als Gastgeber. Wir würden uns jederzeit über ein Wiedersehen freuen und können sie als Gäste uneingeschränkt empfehlen.
