English Oaks Vacation Rental offers a unique riverside retreat where the outdoors become part of your stay. One of its standout features is access to Spanish Creek, allowing guests to enjoy fishing, swimming, wading, or simply relaxing by the water just steps from the home. The peaceful creekside setting creates the perfect backdrop for morning coffee, afternoon picnics, or evenings listening to the soothing sounds of the flowing river.

The property is designed to make the most of its natural surroundings, with multiple patios and outdoor gathering spaces nestled beneath mature oak trees. Whether you're enjoying a meal outdoors, reading in the shade, watching local wildlife, or gathering around with family and friends, the patios provide inviting spaces to relax and connect with nature.

Despite its tranquil riverfront setting, English Oaks is just minutes from downtown Quincy, offering easy access to local restaurants, shopping, and the countless outdoor adventures of the Lost Sierra. Hiking, mountain biking, lakes, golf courses, and Plumas National Forest are all nearby, making it an ideal base for exploring the region.

English Oaks combines the comfort of a private home with the rare luxury of creekside living. NOTE: Occasionally there are neighbors across the river that share the river. They have water toys that are off limit to our guests. If you are expecting complete privacy this may not be a good fit for you. Please be respectful and share the water.

We had a wonderful experience at English Oaks! The setting is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and welcoming, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Everything was lovely, and the atmosphere made our visit feel special. We truly enjoyed our time there and would definitely recommend English Oaks to anyone looking for a beautiful and memorable experience! The hosts were great!!

Our family of four (two adults and two teens) had an incredible vacation at English Oaks. We had so much fun swimming, floating, catching crayfish and playing lawn games. We are inexperienced at fishing but we caught a wonderful trout right at the spot Ember told us to fish at right down from the house. We cooked it over the perfect chimney outdoor fireplace and ate it up with the crawfish. So fun! We also visited Lassen Volcanic National Park where we saw geologic wonders and swam in a blue green crystal clear alpine lake followed by a wonderful dinner at the ranch near the entrance. We found treasures thrifting in Quincy and went for ice cream. It was a fantastic vacation that both of our teens and we fully enjoyed. We can't wait to return!

Great place for kids to play and enjoy Spanish Creek. Lots of room to spread out. We had 5 kids and 3 adults, and our 4-day stay in July was fun for all !Diane in Quincy

We loved our Christmas stay at English Oaks! The creek was rather high so sadly we couldn’t use the outside lower patios but that’s okay. Ember was an amazing host so welcoming and great with communication!!! The beds were beyond comfy, the propane fire stove provided great heat and a comfy cozy feeling to the living room area. We enjoyed playing the games in the evening and hosting family for dinner. The two stoves made it easy to roast our Christmas ham and bake all the side dishes. The property was pet friendly and we loved meeting Embers dogs River and Skye. I enjoyed Rivers daily visits for love.

Great Location, great host.

This house is right on Spanish Creek within sight and walking distance of the train trestle. The rental is well set up and Ember and Chris are awesome hosts.

Great Place

We really enjoyed our stay at the private, creek side house. There is so much to do very quiet and private a perfect location. Whenever we go again to visit family, I will definitely love to stay here again. Thanks for all the memories.

Great relaxing place to stay

We had a great time! Enjoyed swimming the river right at the house , kids on the swing, lounging on the deck. It’s a great place to detach and your only 10mins from town. Ember is really helpful too and super nice. Highly reccomend!!

Wonderful Weekend

We had an amazing stay at English Oaks. It was clean, comfortable and cozy. The beds were amazing. We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, so much love put into the landscaping and outside relaxing spots. Ember and Chris were awesome hosts! We would definitely love to come back to this slice of heaven. The Bretty Bunch

Always A Pleasure!

We just got home today and the last few years have spend one week a year with Ember & Chris’s warm and gracious hosting at their place on the Spanish River. All amenities are first-class all the way, a more than fully equipped kitchen, luxury bedding and towels, the list goes on and on. It never fails to refresh and renew us. Lots to do and see, or nothing at all, as is my personal preference. We look forward year after year to returning. That being said, see you next year!!!

Our Annual Visit

Perfect, as always. A week of resting, reading, and enjoying the hospitality of Ember & Chris. So many updates this year! It only added to the pleasure of this ‘home away from home’. We just got home today, but can’t wait for next year!

Amazing vacation

Ember and Chris couldn’t have been more welcoming to us. They went out their way to make us feel at home. The location is incredible. Had so much fun swimming in the river. The house and property are beautiful and serene! Well stocked kitchen, huge living room, family room and super comfy beds. We had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Can’t wait to go back!

I think your star rating may be incorrect? If you guys were so happy with the stay and want to come back then why the 2 stars? We even went against our policy and gave you a refund for the last night due to a family emergency back home. Very confused.

Beautiful home and great hosts!!

This is a beautiful property that is very well cared for and maintained. The house is gorgeous and the surrounding property is amazing. Chris and Ember do a fantastic job ensuring the home has everything you'll need for your stay, and their communication is superb. This is a fantastic spot for a nice quiet get away, and also offers a great location for many different adventures if you want. We will definitely be coming back to enjoy the house during the summer months!!

Relaxing getaway on the river

Our family enjoyed this quiet and relaxing getaway! The housezwas very clean, spacious and had all the amenities we beeded. We were pleasantly surprised to find SUP paddles and a paddle boat for our use. We all had a great time on the river. Ember let us pick fruit and herbs from the green house, and their sweet pup was a friendly greeter during the day. Next time we'll bring our pups! Thank you for a fantastic stay!

Family fun filled weekend getaway!

We had such a wonderful time staying at this property. It’s tucked away in a private area right ON the river and so close to a private swimming hole. I loved the deck and patio by the river, and really sweet spot to enjoy the peacefulness of the area. The hosts were so easy to get a hold of and pleasant to interact with. The house was stocked with everything we needed and stores in town were only a short 10 min drive away. We were there during an unfortunate heat wave but the hosts provided clear direction on how to keep the house cool and comfortable. We’re hoping to come back again soon!

Back Again…

This was our second annual trip to English Oaks and I can’t say enough about it. Although there is much to do in this interesting area, we go strictly for the R&R and it is perfect as we spent a full week getting some much needed rest. Our hosts, Ember & Chris, along with their two sweet pups, always make us feel so at home. I should mention they are super accommodating with special requests too. We will be returning year after year for this welcome change from the usual pace. Thanks so much Ember and Chris!
