Beautiful cottage

The cottage was in a wonderful location - perfect for exploring lots of the main attractions. It was great to be able to use the boat and canoe on the lake - so peaceful. Gijs was a great host - friendly and welcoming.

Scheendijk ZUID No2 Breukelen, 6-to-13 Apr 2019

My wife and I stayed in the "De Koolmees nature house" between 6 and 13 April 2019; this is the smaller of the two accommodations available and can sleep up to 3 people (a twin and a single bedroom). Gijs and Ying Yi, the owners of the accommodation, are fantastic hosts; they are extremely welcoming and attentive to your every need. The accommodation had everything we required, plus a lot more! The accommodation is conveniently located just outside Breukelen (2.3Km / 1.43 Miles, about a 5 minute drive), a very picturesque town that has a Market every Friday; it is very conveniently located to access Amsterdam and other local attractions, of which there are many. The Road system is good. Do be aware that the Supermarkets in Breukelen don't generally take Visa; we couldn't use either our Visa Credit Cards or Visa Bank Debit Cards to pay for shopping in either the Jumbo or the Albert Heijn (AH) shops, and you should confirm with the shop that they take your preferred payment method before starting your shop. Supermarkets in Breukelen state that they do take MasterCard, although we are unable to confirm use of a British MasterCard, since we don't have one. We did make a stop at a Lidl that was in the vicinity (but not in Breukelen), which did take Visa. We had no problem using our Visa Credit Card at Museums and attractions during our stay in Holland, and there are plenty of Automated Cash Tills to obtain cash from. Most shops in Breukelen town are shut on Mondays, although some are open for part of the day. We both enjoyed the fabulous view over the meadow opposite the accommodation. There was a large amount of wildlife to watch (we saw deer, Geese, Swans, Ducks, Herons, and also a Buzzard that is nesting in a local tree close to the lake). We spent a lot of our early morning, late afternoon and evening time watching the wildlife, helped by a pair of Binoculars kindly loaned to us by the owners. The only thing that has stopped us giving the accommodation 5 Stars is the fact the stairs that lead up to the top floor are quite steep with a tight turn at the bottom, and have to be taken with care. We loved our stay here, and highly recommend it if you don't mind the steep stairs; we would stay here again and would recommend it to our family, although we would try the larger of the two accommodations available if our group was larger. Situé dans la propriété de nos hôtes, nous étions totalement indépendants . L"accueil a été très convivial , nous étions attendus par le propriétaire et avons même trouvé un bouquet de fleurs et une bouteille de vin à notre attention dans la maison . Notre hôte nous a fait visité la maison, petite mais bien aménagée, confortable et décorée avec gout. Rien ne manque , y compris à l'extérieur ou des sièges nous attendaient au bord de l'eau. La région est très jolie et notre hôte nous a indiqué un magnifique château situé à quelques kilomètres. Nous avons pu faire de belles balades à vélo en pleine nature .Un séjour très agréable et convivial à recommander.

The property was clean and well equipped. It had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. We enjoyed using the row boat and bicycles the owner lent us. As others have said, it is small, possibly too small to be comfortable for three if the weather doesn’t allow sitting outside. Our teenager found the single room claustrophobic. It is in an excellent location for visiting a variety of places, with easy access to the train service. We visited many places both by car and train. (Amsterdam, Haarlem, Leiden, Utrecht, Zaandvoort and others.)I have only given 3 stars for the property description because I did not realise that the property is next to others. The photos gave me the impression that it is on its own next to the lake. The property actually sits between another rental and a house the owner’s family is currently building (summer 2026). The building noise was an issue for us but quickly resolved when we spoke with the owner.The owner was always very approachable and helpful. I would have no hesitation recommending this property if it is the right location and size for your needs.

Das Haus liegt sehr schön, während unser Sohn am liebsten auf dem Wasser war, haben wir den Ausblick genossen. Es ist alles vorhanden, was man benötigt und bei der Ruhe lässt es sich auch gut schlafen. Als Ausgangspunkt für Radtouren oder auch sonstige Ausflüge optimal. Auch die morgendliche Begrüßung durch die Enten war immer wieder schön!

Wir hatten einen sehr entspannten Urlaub. Der Kontakt vorab mit Gijs, als wir noch ein paar Dinge klären mussten, war nett und schnell.Das Haus bietet alles - außer einer Mikrowelle -, was man zu zweit braucht. Man findet draußen immer ein Plätzchen, das gerade das richtige Maß an Sonne oder auch Schatten bietet.Es gibt gegenüber des Schlafzimmers ein Kinderzimmer: der Raum ist groß genug; dadurch, dass das Haus aber sehr klein ist, würde ich nur mit einem schwimmfähigen Kind im Grundschulalter dieses Haus mieten.Das Haus befindet sich etwa 2,5 km außerhalb von Breukelen. Wir haben die tolle niederländische Radinfrastruktur genutzt, so dass wir meist mit dem Rad in den Ort gefahren sind.Das Wetter war nicht mehr danach, das Kanu oder die SUP-Boards zu nutzen. Dieses Haus ist sehr zu empfehlen!

Wir hatten schöne und erholsame 8Tage/7Nächte.Es ist anders als es im Onlineauftritt rüber kommt, aber nicht negativ anders.Definitiv ist es zu empfehlen, entweder vor Ort Fahrräder zu leihen oder mitzubringen. Dort Auto zufahren ist sehr anstrengend, die Fahhradfahrer haben dort vor Rang und das merkt man auch.Alles in allem war es eine super Zeit und wir würden wieder hinfahren!

Ein sehr freundlicher Empfang durch die Vermieter ; mit einer Flasche Wein und einem Blumenstrauß in dem Ferienhaus. Die gemeinsame Bootstour hat uns einen tollen Überblick über das Areal verschafft mit all seiner schönen Natur. Wir haben uns super wohl gefühlt.

Traumhaftes Haus mitten in der Natur

Das Haus ist malerisch in der Natur gelegen und mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht. Die Lage zwischen Utrecht und Amsterdam bietet die Möglichkeit für unterschiedlichste Unternehmungen. Die Vermieter sind sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Es war eine perfekte Woche mit meinen zwei erwachsenen Kindern.

Nettes kleines Häuschen, ca. 2 km von der attraktiven Ortschaft Breukelen entfernt. Es liegt an einem kleinen Kanal und ist direkt mit den Lotrechter Plassen verbunden. Ideale Lage um mit SUP und/ oder Ruderboot die unzähligen Inselchen zu entdecken.Das Haus ist ideal für zwei Personen. Die Gastgeber sind ausserordentlich nett und sehr hilfsbereit.

Perfekter Urlaub

Wir hatten einen traumhaften Urlaub in dieser wunderschönen Unterkunft. Wir haben die einzigartige Umgebung von der Terrasse, vom Boot aus oder mit den Fahrrädern genossen. Im Haus hat es uns an nichts gefehlt. Wir möchten wiederkommen.
