Welcome to La Ponderosa, our little ranchette located in the heart of the hill country. This is where you come to relax and get away from the city lights. You can enjoy nights of star gazing along with spectacular sunrises and sunsets while listening to the peaceful sounds of nature surrounded by the large Live Oaks. Only a few minutes away from downtown Lampasas where you can find antiques, groceries and many home cooked meals. Less than four miles away from two award winning Texas wineries.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It’s not far at all from Lampasas, yet still very much in the country. Fun rustic decor, super clean and bed was quite comfortable. Great porch for morning coffee and birdwatching Kitchen had the basics needed for simple meal prep. It was a good location for several drives through the Central Texas hill country. The areas around Lampasas, Burnet and Cherokee are always gorgeous in the spring.

This place was wonderful! There were so many touches all over that made it clear they have thought hard about how to make a nice stay for their guests. My mobility limited parents loved the spaciousness as there was room to move (or turn around) with a cane or walker in the bedroom and bathroom. (Note: there are only stairs into the house but we knew that ahead of time and made it work without problem). Having stayed at most of the hotels in Lampasas with mixed and not glowing experiences this was a wonderful breath of fresh air. My parents especially liked the good lighting so they could see what they were doing (unlike most hotels). We enjoyed this place greatly and will likely stay again.

Quaint little rustic cabin was perfect for our family of four. We enjoyed the simple set up of the cabin, no over thinking required. We stargazed and made smores in the evening and it was a short drive to Colorado State Park for daytime hikes and swimming in the spring. Great little cabin!

This cabin is cozy and the A/C was efficient. The fire pit is nice and came with wood. The goats/sheep? were fun companions along with a few other interesting critters. It couldn't have been more peaceful and quiet. It was a truly restful place and we plan on returning asap.

Everything was great, from the moment i pulled and was welcomed by several blackbelly sheep. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. It was quiet and very peaceful, just what i needed after two brutal months in retail. Legato winery is only 3 miles away. I will definitely return.

We loved the cabin, bed was awesome a/c was cold. We had a small issue with the water heater but Kent took care of it promptly. Will definitely stay again if we are in the area. The best part of the trip was the visits from the sheep!!!!
