THIS CONDO IS SIMPLY ONE OF THE BEST IN THIS METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED DEVELOPMENT

We have just finished extensive re-modeling, including new 18x18 Italian floor tile throughout, new kitchen and bath cabinets with granite countertops, and brand new teak plantation style furniture.

Our home away from home is located on the third floor, and has expansive ocean views from the bedroom and living room lanais. Our unit also faces the beautiful INTERIOR of the complex and/or overlooks the well manicured tropical landscaping and pool area (versus many other units overlooking the exterior and/or the mountain view/parking lot area).

Our condo is located in the Kauhale Makai Resort, and is also known as Village by the Sea. Our address is 938 South Kihei Road, #328, Kihei, Maui, Hawaii, and we are on the ocean side of Kihei Road. Our unit comfortably sleeps four with a brand new serta king size bed with luxurious 600 thread count sheets, and queen size futon in the living room.

Our condo complex features a manned lobby, concierge service for booking your outings, elevators, coin operated laundry rooms on every floor, newly remodeled pool area plus a kiddie pool and Jacuzzi, gas fireplaces adjacent to the pool, a putting green, a volley ball court, and shuffleboard. We also have the most incredible ocean side tennis courts immediately adjacent to our complex. And we have broadband high speed internet (the fastest speed on the island).

We are a 20 minute drive from Maui – Kahului Airport. We are 2 minutes from downtown Kihei with grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping aplenty. We are within 5 minutes of the world famous Kamaole I, II, and III beaches. And we are within 10 minutes of beautiful Wailea and the upscale 'Shops at Wailea' shopping center.

Maui is world famous for its beaches, and you will find that you can trek from the beach in front of our unit endlessly along the coastline.

We have an activity director in our lobby, which can assist you in booking endless fun, including: luaus, whale watching tours, sailing, horseback riding, snorkeling, golf, biking down a volcano, wine tasting, fishing, jet skiing, windsurfing, surfing, etc…, etc…, etc…

We take pride in our home away from home and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

early January 2025 visit

This property was well positioned for access to all the restaurants and public beach parks of Kihei without being right by them. It was a good value for the area and great for a couple. This particular unit doesn't face the sunset but there's a large yard and sandy beach on property to view sunset or watch the activity on the cove and beyond.

Trip to Moui

The condo was in an beautiful area and some very beautiful views of Maalaea Bay. the room was nice except for the TV’s, they where not very easy to operate and never was able to get the living room tv to work but we where not there to much to use them.

Happy in Maui!

The view from the property was amazing. We took full adavantage of the kitchen and dinning area for breakfasts and lunches. We had a couple of questions during our stay. Management respond quickly and folloed up to make sure our needs were met. Great stay!!!

Stay in Kihei for a few days

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Condo. It looked and felt as advertised. The only thing I would recommend as an improvement would be the bed, mattress, and pillows - I think they have aged and they should be replaced for a more comfortable stay.

Great access to the beach. Pool and hot tub was really good. Owner/management very responsive. Overall loved it and would stay here again!

Kihei stay

We really liked the condo and location. Could use a little updating and issue with living room tv it was unplugged so i plugged it back in but never got it to work and TP dispenser screws stripped so it needs to be fixed. Overall we liked it and would stay there again.

Enjoyed 5 days in the apartment with our kids. They liked the pool. Central location, all parts of Maui easily to reach. Great view to the sea.

Great place and amazing owner!

The property has all you need for your vacation. Ice cold central air, and the owner was very cooperative with my request. Convenient parking, and great ocean view with stunning sunset. Great place for a family of 4. I will definitely be back. Thanks Jim.

Our experience with the host who managed the place was rude and lied. He stated that he emailed us the door combination several time but no emails was never received. Complained that we woke him up when we call him for the door combination. Place need to fix the patio door. It was off track and hard to open. Screen door was broken. Patio rail was loose on the bottom and wasn’t bolted. Very hazard. Water was leaking underneath the toilet and bathroom floor was all wet. Cleaning person knew about this water leaking but we were never informed. Top of the frig was dirty and nasty. Not enough storage containers. Pool was closed for construction which the host never informed us. In our experience this place could have been better if these issues would have been fixed before we arrived and the host’s attitude could been more polite. Too bad this page can’t attached pictures to show because I took pictures of the things that needed to be fixed. Hope these issues would be fixed before the next visitors check in to this place.

First Trip to Maui

We decided on Kihei because we were visiting with friends who lived there. The location of the condo was perfect. It was right down the road from Maui Gardens food trucks, Da Kitchen and Izakaya Genbe - I would suggest trying all. The condo was very clean and spacious. We didn’t even need to turn on the air at all- due to the breeze and patio! We live in Florida, so that is amazing for March. We drank our coffee and tea out there. We took daily 3 mile walks right out the back and down the beach. Our tour guide picked up us right in front for the Halakelah sunrise tour. We loved it! I would highly recommend staying here. We even saw whales right from the beach in back! Great location, clean and great communication with Jim.

Beautiful View! Awesome balcony!

The property was exactly as described on VRBO. Its proximity to the ocean was wonderful, a short walk over nice grass to the ocean. The location of the property is within a few miles of grocery shopping and restaurants. We found some very good ones and some not so very good ones. Condo was fully stocked with pots and pans. There was a laundry facility right outside the unit, and as long as you are familiar with phone apps, it works perfectly. The main thing we missed in check in was that you absolutely cannot check in before 3 PM. Our plane arrives early around 10 and we were not able to gain access until three. Other than that, things went just as planned.

Relaxing, comfortable and easy

Nice, easy place to stay. Thoughtful amenities were provided like beach chairs, cooler, and clothes basket for laundry. Great that you can walk directly across a green space to the beach. Relaxing, spacious lanai with a view of West Maui and the bay. I enjoyed sitting there in mornings listening to the many birds around. Would have loved to be able to walk to the nearby shopping center and food trucks rather than drive. If you’re also hoping for that, just note the main road has no sidewalk or useful shoulder the whole way so it was an unpleasant walk. But that’s pretty typical of Maui, so not a big negative.

Comfortable accommodations

We enjoyed a relaxing time at Village by the Sea. The one bedroom was a perfect size for the two of us. The location, overlooking the grassy park, with the ocean beyond was very peaceful. The unit has a nice lanai to enjoy the view. We were able to find everything we needed in the small kitchen, for meal preparation. All the furnishings were comfortable, including the king bed and the sofa. An ottoman would be good for the livingroom. The bathroom has a nice shower, and we were especially happy with the large plush bath towels supplied. If a remodel is coming up, I believe a higher toilet would be a welcome item. As we enjoy reading, in the early evening, brighter lighting would be beneficial in the livingroom and bedroom lamps. The items mentioned above do not take away from what is a great vacation rental.

Great stay!

Overall we really enjoyed our stay! The condo had almost everything we needed, the location was pretty good and it was very quiet. My only complaints, and I say this very loosely because it really did not hinder our stay but would’ve been nice, one of the three beach chairs and umbrella was broken and the beach directly outside the condo was pretty rocky. Again, nothing that really made a hue difference but could be nice added bonuses! Of course there’s not changing the beach ;) Outside of that it’s very quiet, the pool is clean and normally not very busy. We enjoyed coffee and breakfast on the balcony every morning as well! Very easy check in process, plenty of parking and close enough to town/sandy beaches but far enough away we felt relaxed. Would likely stay again!

Great View

The view was amazing and the size perfect for us. Pool area is very nice also with hot tub and a kiddie pool. Kitchen was adequately stocked. Looked like beach would be small but we walked two miles one way before we decided to turn around. A bit rocky at first but amazing beach beyond. Convenient, less crowded area but minutes to town by car.

Outstanding

My wife and I stayed here from Oct 9-Oct 16 as part of our honeymoon. The unit is exactly as described and had everything we needed — it was clean, well maintained, well equipped and comfortably furnished. Check in and check out process was a breeze. The lanai was perfect for morning coffees and the unit is a short walk to the shore to watch the stunning Maui sunsets and turtles swimming about. The condo is close driving distance to excellent food options, beaches and activities. It made an excellent central base for day trips to other parts of the island as well. Our host Jim was fantastic from booking all the way through to check out. He was quick to respond, thoughtful and accommodating. We would recommend staying here and would have absolutely no hesitation staying here again in the future. Thank you Jim and we hope to be back in the future.

We bought this property in 1983 because of its beautiful surroundings, great location on the water, close proximity to shopping, elevator, in unit air conditioning and beautiful view of the ocean. At night, the lights of Maalaea Harbor are lit up, and you can see the far away lights of cars coming and going to Lahaina. Whales are constantly seen from the lanai during whale season.

Free whale watching from our lanai. A view of what is happening at the pool and BBQ area. Watching the sail boats stop in front of our complex to let their paying guests swim with the turtles. Watching sail boarders in the afternoon zipping to and fro from our lanai. Wading in and walking through hand made areas where fish reach maturity along our beaches. Letting go of life's complications and just relaxing and enjoying the birds and ocean views. Staying connected with love one's through our high speed wifi.
