The Lodge: Restored Rustic 2 Bedroom On The River

The Lodge, a historic cabin on River Mountain Farm, is a private 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom house that sleeps up to 4 and is pet friendly. Renovated in 2022, we restored this 1880s cabin and added modern amenities to make your stay comfortable. It is perfect for a family getaway and has two private bedrooms along with a fully-equipped kitchen, a separate dining room, and a living room with working fireplace. The bathroom features a claw foot tub with shower fixtures. The Lodge is heated by electric space heaters positioned throughout, and by the large central fireplace. There is a built-in A/C unit in living room that will cool the building in the summer. 
 
***New in 2025: Electric vehicle charging is available!  We have added both standard 120V and NEMA 14-50 240V outlets so you can charge your EV during your stay. Charging is complimentary for guests staying in The Lodge when pre-arranged.
 
On site, you'll have access to 137 acres of hiking and nearly a mile and a quarter of river frontage for fishing or kayaking. You can borrow one of our four kayaks, two paddle boards, or two river tubes or bring your own and launch from our new floating dock. We provide most of the gear you will need including adult life jackets, paddles, and waterproof bags. The owners, Adrienne and Drew, live on the property and are available to assist with anything you might need before or during your stay. For larger or smaller groups, you can reserve one of the other homes on the farm. Each building is a comfortable distance from the others, so while you may see other guests on the property, you will still be able to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the farm. Note the farm is equipped with security cameras that point on the driveway, parking areas, and inside the barns and sheds.
 
The Lodge always includes free coffee and free firewood (sustainably harvested from the property) for the fire pit, and free propane for the grill. We also supply all linens and bath towels, as well as hand soap in the kitchen and bathroom. A new 60-panel solar array attached to the original barn generates 24,000+ kWh and covers all of our energy consumption. We also offer 100% contactless check-in and check-out to keep you safe and healthy.

It was a lovely short getaway to a peaceful setting. We enjoyed the quiet, the views, campfires, kayaking and just being together. The hosts are friendly and responsive. We would return!

Absolutely Beautiful and Peaceful

Our stay was amazing! Drew and Adrienne were very accommodating in whatever needs we had on the farm! We highly recommended this wonderful farm to other's, and we will be returning for future visits!

Pretty perfect

The place was amazing for a countryside getaway! The lodge itself is cozy and kitted out, the reservation and communication and check-in process worked perfectly. 10/10, would stay again.

Family Trip

Wonderful property. We only saw three people the whole three days we were there. Better than advertised we had a wonderful time and a wonderful property.

Amazing! Exactly what we were looking for. Everthing was exactly as described. We appreciated and loves having access to the kayaks. The horses and cows were a nice calming presence. Hope to visit again.

Beautiful location

Great property! We had fun kayaking and fishing. The lodge is homey and has everyone you need. You definitely need an suv or truck to navigate the lane to the farm.

Beautiful scenery, the lodge was in great condition, and the hosts were responsive when we needed things. It was so much fun to have the kayak shed right next to the river. We used the EV charging while we stayed, super convenient.The road into the property was a bumpy road, but not so bad I would rate this place as anything but five stars!

Wooded river retreat

Reminded me of a camping trip with all the luxuries. The cabin was cozy, the surroundings were forested on i ne side and the other side was the river which felt like it was out very own. The fire pit was sooo nice and they have it easy to set up.

Anniversary Get Away

My wife and I had a great time. The house was nice and cozy. Great views all around. The host gave us fresh eggs and a S'mores kit. We went Kayaking in the river. It was a great time.

Farm Cabin

Very quaint and quiet. Loved watching the chickens come through the property. Overall, very nice and relaxing time. I had friends come in to visit for the day and definitely ate some good food. Would 100% return to stay there again.

This place suited perfectly for our annual adventure with my childhood best friend! The river was beautiful and the flow relaxing (as opposed to challenging). We seek nature and quiet (no cars/street sounds, lawn mowers, blowers, dogs barking, light pollution etc.) and this well equipped cabin delivered! We never heard anything but sounds of nature. There was a flood light near but the owners shut it off per our request which we appreciated. The stars in the night sky were abundant! The cabin had everything we cld possibly need taken to another level- beautiful bone China, nice, heavy flatware plus all needed cookware and gadgets etc. We loved paddle boarding on the river! The surrounding area has much to offer with state park hiking trails, Raystown lake, the steam train etc. I think I will return with my husband when we golf the Old Bedford golf course!

Our Getaway

Our stay was wonderful at River Mountain Farm. Our hosts were great and very accommodating. We loved the chickens that walked the farm freely. We loved the decorating done to the cabin and the unusual antiques. Overall a great weekend. Kris.

River Mountain Farm

Our stay was wonder at RMF. The lodge was very clean and organized. The decorations and decor was perfect. It was a much needed time to relax. There are plenty of things to go visit in the surrounding towns. Adrienne and Drew were able to supply wood for the fire place! This is a place we will visit again! Thank you for such a great week.

Relaxing Quiet Get-Away

A perfect place to relax and enjoy the solitude. The Lodge was nicely renovated and still kept the rustic charm and decor from years back. Property was maintained and we enjoyed walking around. Bon fires, fishing, and kayaking were the things that made us pick this place. The dock was great to fish from. The rivers edge was a bit steep and the old concrete steps were a little difficult to slide the kayaks into the water but we managed and had fun for hours by the water. We would stay again and maybe even try the smaller cabin there.

A delightful getaway with unique experiences

We stayed four nights at this beautiful rural retreat. We were greeted by friendly chickens and a clean, rustic, and comfortable lodge. The Wi-Fi worked flawlessly. The highlight of our visit was the quick jaunt to the Raystown Branch Juniata River surrounded by mountains. The variety of water craft gave us a chance to explore the river in different ways, though our favorite was the rigid kayak. On the river, we spotted geese, chipmunks, and a turtle. It was quiet and remote with all the amenities. It was a real trip to remember.

Guys Outdoor Weekend Getaway

Mixed group of 10, 30ish to 60ish, biking, hiking, kayaking , fishing (property has small floating dock) fireside chats, cook outs, book reading, bird watching, music playing etc. Access to the property is a very rocky rural road, but even FedEx can get there. lol The kitchen is really well equipped and in good order. The bedrooms and common areas are clean comfortable and well furnished. TV / Wifi / Wifi Calling all had great service. Highly recommend!

Loved our time at the Lodge.

Enjoyed our stay at The Lodge. We spent a lot of time on the river kayaking and fishing. The views were beautiful and loved being so remote. The owners live on the property but we rarely saw them. They were very responsive when we did have questions. The kayaks and paddle boards were amazing and conveniently located. The river was very calm with a light current. Just downstream there was a much faster section of the river with a nice rocky shoreline. The cabin was rustic and had everything you could need. There were lots of birds and we were excited to see many Baltimore Orioles onsite. It was perfectly isolated and was even fun to drive into. Take a vehicle with a little ground clearance.

Beautiful Place!

The cabin was very clean and had awesome decorations. The property was very quite and just what we were looking for. The chickens came over to hang out with us both days we were there! The only two things that could have been advertised better was the distance between the two buildings they rent out. Had I know we could see the other guests and pets at all times, I wouldn't have brought my dogs along as they get too excited when they can constantly see other people and dogs. The interent was advertised as high speed and it didn't work for half of the time we were there on the smart tv that was provided. We didn't use our phones while we're there but when we had some time during the day to watch a movie we couldn't get anything to load on the TV. Overall, it's a great place and I would definitely stay again sans the dogs!

Thank you for the kind words and honest feedback about the lodge. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and would like to return. We are sorry to hear that your pups didn't have as relaxing a time. The lodge is more centrally located on the farm and with that there is more chance you will see the other guests as they may walk by with their pets to get to other areas of the farm - the central location does provide more visits from the chickens as well. Also, we agree about the wifi and are right now in process of upgrading it at the lodge with a new access point to accommodate the metal roof issues. Apologies that it wasn't done before your stay. We do hope that you will visit us again!

The W's

The road going to the property was a little rough, ok for an SUV, but cars might have some difficulties, but take it slow, cause the end result is pretty cool. It opens up into a nice, wide vista of lush mountains & green pastures to your left, & where you'll being staying on your right. Cute as heck chickens greeted us the second we got out of our vehicle. The house we stayed in was welcoming & provided everything that they said would be there. The only thing we couldn't use was the propane grill, bcause when we took off the grill cover & opened it up, there was some sort of nest that some sort of animal created, so had to make steaks inside. Absolutely loved that we had the place to ourselves, went fishing off the floating dock & caught a fish & a good buzz. Awesome bonfires every night, & the star gazing was a hit. Heard noises in the woods one night, some sort of animal, it was cool & scary as heck at the same time. Didn't deter us from our bonfire at all, peeked our curiosity more. Found out later that it was a Bobcat. Overall, Absolutely Loved Our Experience!
