As you enter, you will be struck by the intricate, handcrafted custom woodwork that makes this tiny home truly one-of-a-kind. Despite its cozy size, the cabin boasts all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay for two.

We aim to give our guests complete privacy to enjoy their retreat. We will not be present during your stay, but our local contact is just a phone call away should you need anything. In the event of a power outage, our own communication may be delayed, but our local support remains available to assist you.
* Seasonal Road Closures: FOREST ROAD 52 / SKATE CREEK ROAD, which travels between Packwood and Elbe, is often closed, especially during the winter months. Please check road conditions before traveling.
* Power & Internet: Being in the mountains, power and internet can be intermittent due to weather. However, the Knotty Shack is equipped with a built-in generator, so you won't have to worry about power outages! You can even enjoy the hot tub during an outage. The cabin also has fiber optic internet.
* Security: For your security and ours, a camera is installed on the exterior of the cabin, pointing at the driveway.

The place was great but we didn’t have service when we got there so we couldn’t check the messages from the host therefore didn’t get the WiFi password. Might be useful to have the WiFi password written down somewhere. Other than that, great place and cozy. Super close to Mt Rainer.

We updated the wifi and received your confirmation that you received it prior to your arrival. ALSO, The current Wifi info was in the Guest Information Book located in the cabin. It was available to you in electronic or paper form.

We went for our honeymoon. Spent most our time out exploring trails but to come "home" to this awesome little spot was PERFECT. The house is so clean and they had little guest freebies. We noticed alot of little extra touches that made it special. The hot tub is well maintained and feels totally private.

This darling cabin was a perfect spot from which to explore Mt. Rainier, only a 7 minute drive to the Nisqually entrance. It was perfectly clean, will appointed with everything needed to prepare meals and do laundry, not to mention a great bed, cute decorations, a beautiful yard and hot tub. Our hosts were very responsive to our questions, provided helpful information, and made the check-in and out process seamless. We loved every minute!

The hot tub was perfect after some good hikes! I really appreciated the trekking poles being available as I was unable to pack mine in a carry-on. 10/10 would recommend!

The host's attention to detail was superb! I feel like they thought of everything, with my convenience in mind. It was so nice! Flawless communication, perfect amenities. Perfect for 1-2 people.

It was cozy! We got lucky and had snow at the cabin, hot tub was perfectly hot. A truely amazing place. We will be back!

Beautiful and quaint - all you could ever want for a stay at Mt. Rainier!
The place was clean, cozy, and had everything you would need for a get away close to the park entrance for Mt. Rainier. The owners have great communication and made everything so easy for check-in and out!

This cozy cabin is a must stay!! Everything you need after hiking and exploring all day. We loved everything about it, including a Doe and her 2 fawns lil visit :)).

Raised as a "military brat", I was lucky to travel the world. No surprise my family decided to settle in Washington State. My trips to Mt. Rainier have always held a special place in my heart. My husband Patrick came for a visit in the mid 80's and fell in love with the mountain. Now we are lucky enough to have a cabin near the Paradise entrance. We recently also acquired the "Knotty Shack" and are happy to continue to rent it as a short-term rental.
