Bullet Hole Cabin~Borders National Forest~Hike/Fish/Wildlife~NW Montana Beauty!
Less than one mile from British Columbia, nestled among the pines, is where you will find The Bullet Hole Cabin II. Views of the Whitefish Range of the Rocky Mountains; Kootenai National Forest border; wildlife such as white-tailed deer, mule deer, turkeys, elk, moose, mountain lion, black bear, grizzly, wolves, coyotes and bald eagles flying overhead are some of the experiences possible at The Bullet Hole Cabin II.
The Bullet Hole Cabin II was originally an Amish homesteader's cabin. Completely renovated and remodeled, it now offers comfortable sleeping for 6. Cozy at 840 square feet, the cabin also boasts 320 additional square feet of outside covered porches. The back porch also has a picnic table and gas grill for your bar-b-que enjoyment. Add a living room with a gas fireplace, a fully-equipped kitchen with custom oak cabinets and all the amenities, including a refrigerator, stove, microwave and dishwasher, all cookware and serving wear provided, a washer & dryer, 2 full bathrooms (one with an extra long tub), one private bedroom downstairs (queen bed), one private bedroom upstairs (full bed), and a loft bedroom (2 twins that convert to a king-size bed), and you will have memories of a lifetime waiting for you.
Located at Montana's northwest corner of Lake Koocanusa, a 99 mile long lake stretching from Canada into the US, the West Kootenai, the area in which we live, has been described as 'an experience, not a location.' Thousands of acres of the Kootenai National Forest are available for hiking, biking, sight-seeing, scenic drives, fishing and hunting, the outdoors is waiting for you outside of your door. Coupling that with views of the Amish that still live in our community as well as visiting a few of their shops, adventures await you. From June through the beginning of September, enjoy the Amish "Goody Tent". Local Amish ladies make homemade jams and jellies as well as the fresh vegetable stand. The local Amish store is open Monday through Saturday, during the summertime, and Wednesday through Saturday during the wintertime. They offer homemade sandwiches, basic food items, ice cream, breakfast on Saturday morning and homemade donuts. Summertime brings their weekly Friday night dinners!
Have you ever gone on vacation and not sure of the area? We provide a detailed information booklet full of day trip ideas from fishing the local rivers, to hiking the National Forest trails, to traveling to Glacier National Park, to a picnic lunch at Little North Fork Falls, to finding a scenic vista, renting a pontoon boat, hiring an outfitter, to attending the local Amish Auction in June, the Lincoln County Rodeo in July and the Eureka Quilt Show and The Bull Thing in August, we are sure that you will find your time at The Bullet Hole Cabin to be memorable and enjoyable.
Winter activities include snowmobiling in the Kootenai National Forest, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing as well as visiting the ski resort of Whitefish Resort - 1.5 hours away. Drive southwest to Libby and visit the Turner Mountain Ski Slope - 1.25 hours away. Snowmobile rentals are available approximately 1:15 hours away - with trailer rental available - for your use on the designated trails and roads in the Kootenai National Forest - miles and miles of fun available within 5 minutes of the cabin for snowmobile use. Cross-country ski or snowshoe from the cabin through the Kootenai National Forest that borders our property to the Canadian border!
Eureka, a quaint small town, is 26 miles away loaded with quaint shops, restaurants, golf course and the Historical Village. Libby is located 75 miles to the southwest where you can tour Libby Dam, visit Kootenai Falls with the swinging bridge (where The River Wild was filmed), visit Yaak Falls and the Ross Grove Giant Cedars Grove. To our north, is British Columbia and the town of Fernie. Travel southeast to Kalispell, Whitefish Mountain Resort and to one of our nation's treasures, Glacier National Park.
Nestled on our 10 acre home parcel, we have strived to maintain the guest cabin's privacy. While our shop (located approximately 200' from the cabin) and home (located approximately 600' from the cabin) are visible from the cabin and located on the same parcel, we have a separate circular driveway for the cabin as well as planted trees to maintain your privacy ~ albeit small trees since the deer ate the larger ones.
Please note that we do not allow boat trailers, snowmobile trailers, RVs or campers to be towed onto the property due to our private access road. There is no boat ramp on the west side of Lake Koocanusa. The boat ramps are located on east side of the lake. However, if you do have a boat, there is a marina on the east side of the lake where you can rent a space while you are at the cabin.
Please note that we ONLY rent to guests who are non-smokers and have no pets. Our strict no smokers, no-pet policy has no exceptions as as we have numerous guests with severe allergies. If you smoke, use tobacco products, including vaping, or have a pet traveling with you, we will not rent to you. We are not ADA complaint; therefore, we are not able to accept guests with wheelchairs, walkers, etc.
We do not currently charge a security deposit; however, in lieu of this, we do require that we have a current credit card on file in the event of damages Due to insurance regulations, there is a Rental Agreement that you must sign and return before your stay.
Cozy, comfortable, quiet, serenity, peaceful, beautiful, breathtaking are words used to described the cabin and the location in which we live. Guests have described our cabin as 'Off the Beaten Path; Quiet; Gorgeous; Clean; Wonderfully Outfitted; The West Kootenai, The Best Kept Secret in Montana'. 'The Best Cabin We've Ever Stayed At ANYWHERE!' The Bullet Hole Cabin II at Whispering Ridge located in The West Kootenai, Rexford, Montana - The last best place - see it to believe it.

Preguntas frecuentes
Acerca del anfitrión
Anfitrión: Carolyn Daughton
We first visited Big Sky Country in 1987 and made a vow, at that time, to return and, hopefully, one day live here. As life typically happens, life interfered and it wasn't until the winter of 2006 that we were able to return. And with that visit, we were unable to stay away. We returned again in the summer of 2007 and decided, with our two children, that this was where we wanted to live the rest of our lives.
Por qué eligió esta propiedad
We were fortunate to find the area of the West Kootenai, an area of unblemished beauty, touching the boundary between the USA and Canada. Whispering Ridge, our land overlooking Lake Koocanusa and the Whitefish Range of the Rocky Mountains, became our full-time home as well as the site of our guest cabin, in December, 2008. Wanting to share the beauty, serenity and peacefulness of our surroundings, we embarked on the journey of creating 'The Bullet Hole Cabin II at Whispering Ridge' in the fall of 2009.
