HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
The rules state that there should be no unregistered guest on the property without permission. We went to dinner with a friend who was staying elsewhere. They were not home yet, so he asked if he could join us while he waited. He was not an overnight guest, so we said yes. 15 minutes into his arrival, the owner called saying AI on the security camera picked up an extra person and to rectify the situation. Within 15 minutes, he left. We were notified that the host canceled our stay. He said VRBO agreed and to leave the property. We were sitting around playing cards inside without music or harm. We tried calling to explain, but they sent us to voicemail. To stay in word limit, I have to exclude much detail of us pleading with the owners and them threatening law enforcement to remove us. His argument was that it was for our protection and we allowed a stranger on the property which could cause harm. I hardly think that our harmless misunderstanding warranted eviction late at night in an unfamiliar town & bad neighborhood with nowhere to go. If we had pizza delivered and the delivery guy was waiting ON PRIVATE PROPERTY for a few minutes while we got to the door, the cameras would notify the owners and we would technically be in violation. Clearly that would be unreasonable. The same logic applies here. These people have a complete lack of empathy and it was a money scam. They are waiting for you to break a rule so you can be evicted. Save the trouble and stay in a hotel.
