REFINED RECLAMATION

Stepping into this refined and gracious 19th century home in Clevelandā€™s Ohio City neighborhood is like putting on your granddadā€™s cashmere coat. Greeted by the original wrought iron railing and door with transom window emblazoned with the address, you enter a home mixing nostalgia with contemporary luxury. You are immediately transported into your own special world.

Ohio City is the vibrant neighborhood of Cleveland which blends the old with the new.Ā  Ohio City itself was originally incorporated in the early 1800ā€™s as a rival to the City of Cleveland across the Cuyahoga River. Merchants and residents set up the Ohio City neighborhood on the bluffs of the river and close to the lake to take advantage of this bustling commercial spot.Ā  Today the neighborhood is a thriving and charming mix of past and present. You are just a stroll away from the Westside Market and a whole host of restaurants and shops radiating around that stately city landmark.

Dubbed Chatham Manor, this lovely home is tucked into the neighborhood with other residences, and nicely situated across from a part of the campus of the prestigious private boys school, Saint Ignatius.Ā  From windows in the home, you have views of that stately school and downtown Cleveland beyond.Ā 

Following Green Certified building standards, the home is a thoughtful and loving restoration of an Ohio City dwelling. You will see past history unveiled throughout because every effort was made and no expense spared to utilize rescued and reclaimed materials. You will be delighted as you discover the abundance of reclaimed wood and salvaged architectural elements throughout the home.

From example, the original interior brick wall of the home has been preserved and provides focal points downstairs and upstairs.Ā  Note the wooden barn beams on the first floor and the expansive window seat in the dining room.Ā  The honey-colored and perfectly worn maple flooring you see in the entire home is a former basketball court from a gymnasium in Fostoria, Ohio which had been slotted for demolition. The reclaimed and repurposed bowling alley lanes make up the stair treads, as well the expansive kitchen counter. Look for the bowling lane arrows and dots preserved and integrated into the designs.Ā  The amazing industrial light fixtures hanging in the kitchen are from a westside Cleveland factory. The builder drove to Detroit to rescue the cool lampposts in the backyard from a former mansion.Ā  Custom inlayed wood pattern on the landing and the inlay beech in one of the bedrooms upstairs gives a nod to the old-time craftsmanship of the neighborhood and its buildings. The incredible glass paneled door, which was stripped of layers of paint and installed on the bedroom at the top of the steps, was saved from a mercantile building on Broadway Avenue in downtown Lorain, Ohio. The copper kick plate and fabulous brass mail slot add to the charm of this special architectural element.Ā 

Juxtaposed with the reclaimed and repurposed treasures of the house are all of the modern amenities one is looking for in a relaxing luxury getaway. You will enjoy the clean bright spaces throughout the house. The gracious proportions of the various areas, such as the living room, dining room, lower level and kitchen provide ample room for all the guests to relax and enjoy time away. The truly amazing kitchen may even entice you to stay extra days. Custom Amish cabinets surround the high end appliances, and the coffee bar and pantry provide all the gadgets you need.Ā  You will have no issues preparing anything from your morning coffee to a delicious dinner.Ā  But donā€™t worry if you donā€™t have time for cooking.Ā  There is plenty of great food and drink to be found in the Ohio City neighborhood and beyond.Ā 

You will find that the neutral palette of the dĆ©cor and quiet sophistication of the furnishings throughout the house, but particularly in the bedrooms, create a sense of calm. A four-poster bed, high ceilings and original decorative window grace the spacious first bedroom. Heading into the second bedroom with its special door, exposed brick, inlayed floor and comfy bed will feel like a step back in time.Ā  Just wait until you see the generously sized primary suite with its king bed, closets, dresser and towel warmer.Ā  The primary bathroom, with its heated floor, will amaze. Enjoy the luxury of the spacious shower or the extremely chic white bathtub. Again, you may just have to stay longer.

Donā€™t forget the fenced in and secluded backyard with those salvaged antique lampposts, bistro lights, shaded porch, seating area around the fire table and, of course, the hot tub for six (grab your robe and towel from the custom nook on the way out the back door).Ā

āœ¹ This house sits in a quiet residential neighborhood. This house is NOT for parties, large gatherings, or events. If a guest violates the house rules and allows unauthorized guests, everyone will be removed from the property without a refund.

āœ¹ Contactless check-in is available via the keypad on the front door - a door code for entry/exit will be provided.

āœ¹ This home has been lovingly curated for out-of-town guests! We love to host guests who have previously stayed in short-term rentals and earned favorable reviews.

āœ¹ While we appreciate the interest in staying with us, please note that we do not cater to guests who live in the area and are seeking an alternate venue for their affairs or events. We reserve the right to turn away such guests.

āœ¹ Please advise us of any allergies or sensitivities ahead of time so we can better prepare for your reservation.

āœ¹ The rental rate does not include a daily housekeeping service. The unit is thoroughly cleaned and inspected before check-in. Mid-stay cleaning services are available for longer stays for an additional fee.

āœ¹ Please gather excess trash and place it in large receptacles at the back of the house.

āœ¹ At the rear of Chatham Manor, we have a separate unit known as the Carriage House, which is also available for reservation. Please rest assured that the outside amenities such as the fire table, hot tub, and parking in the driveway are exclusively reserved for guests staying in Chatham Manor. We prioritize your experience and privacy, and thus, these amenities are solely for your enjoyment.

ā˜…ā˜… RULES AND GUIDELINES ā˜…ā˜…

āœ¹ To accommodate all group sizes, we charge additional fees per person after the third person.

āœ¹ We ask our guests to enjoy and treat our house with the same love and respect as they would their own.

āœ¹ For the comfort and better enjoyment of all present and future guests, SMOKING is NOT allowed inside the house.

āœ¹ Moving or rearranging furniture within the property is strictly prohibited. Our team has carefully designed the layout for optimal functionality and aesthetics. This rule is in place to maintain the propertyā€™s condition and to prevent potential damage.

āœ¹ Check-in is at 4 pm onwards and check-out time is at 10 am. Late check-outs will incur a fee of $65 per hour. After 2 hours, the rate increases to $130 per hour.

āœ¹ Undeclared guests in the reservation are not allowed inside the property.

āœ¹ STRICT QUIET HOURS 10PM - 7AM "Especially Outdoor"

āœ¹ Damage to the property will incur the following charges:

āœ” Pet Cleanup: $500 - $1000 (minimum), depending on the severity
āœ” Party Cleanup: $750 Minimum
āœ” Smoking Remediation: $700
āœ” Damaged Towels: $20 Each
āœ” Damaged Linens: $30 Each

āœ¹ Please note that there are exterior security cameras for monitoring. A noise monitoring device is installed inside the property.

āœ¹ Guests must complete a check-in form and sign a rental agreement.

āœ¹ Fur babies under 30 lbs are allowed inside the house. If you need to step out without them, kindly ensure they are safely caged until your return. Pet fees are $99 per pet if reported before check-in, and $200 per pet if observed on the property without prior declaration and payment.

āœ¹ Please note that by booking, you consent to a third party screening your identity and checking criminal databases to confirm your reservation. Complete terms for guest screening can be requested from the property manager. You will receive an email to complete your screening. Please check your spam folder for this email and contact the property manager with any.

Girlā€™ Trip
7 retired teachers found the home to be beautiful and very clean. All amenities were there. Michael was patience and very prompt in regards to my questions. The location was close to restaurants and activities. We all felt safe and secure in the neighborhood. We will come back - highly recommended!

Great for a girls weekend
Six of us stayed for three nights - it was perfect for gathering, talking, laughing, and reminiscing. The owners made it a point to preserve the history of the house when they renovated and it's beautiful - there's original brickwork and beams, and they recycled other materials from buildings in the area. It's fairly close to downtown and restaurants in Ohio City are a short walk away. This is the second VRBO we've done in the area and this one is our favorite so far - we'll be back!

Bachelorette Party
This house is perfect for a bachelorette party, girls trip or a family trip to visit Cleveland! It is as beautiful as the pictures show, it's walking distance to several great places and is stocked with all of the essentials. Our group would recommend this house to friends/family for sure!

Great house- great location!
Wanted to stay in Ohio City and this was perfect! This house is amazing! Old house with all new renovations. Fun to walk to all the bars and restaurants both days we were there. The new field across the street was hopping with activity too. Also used the nice kitchen for a meal that we bought at West Side Market. Added bonus was the fire table and hot tub!
