Brown Bear Lodge-In Town-Hot Tub-Pet Friendly

Summary:

Mountain cabin charm with an in town location, the Brown Bear Lodge is a rustic cabin located in Buettner Park in Red Lodge. This historic cabin housed WPA workers in the 1930’s as they built the Beartooth Pass. Enjoy amenities including a hot tub, plenty of sleeping, TV and WIFI, and it is pet friendly. Brown Bear Lodge is the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring!

The Space:

As you come into Buettner Park, there is a feeling of entering your private getaway. There are many small cabins in the neighborhood, but also many old growth trees, lawns, and small roads. Brown Bear Lodge is easily accessible from the main road and is one of the first homes in the neighborhood. There is a private parking area and small yard that is fenced. This is great for your furry friends to have a place to themselves.

Walk in the cabin and there is an open dining area and livingroom with a gas fireplace for cozy winter nights. There are two futon beds with bedding provided for guests.

The kitchen is equipped with all your essentials for making meals during your stay. We also provide coffee for you so you can wake up ready to go! With this being an older, smaller kitchen space, there is no dishwasher.

Off of the livingroom is your first bedroom with a full bathroom. There is a comfortable full bed and dresser for your essentials. The closet has the bedding for the livingroom futons as well.

Off of the first bedroom is the hot tub room. Enjoy a soak in this three person hot tub and dont fret about the wintery weather outside! Through the hot tub room is the second bedroom with two beds. This room has nice views of the back lawns where you will frequently see deer and wildlife.

Each bathroom is a full bathroom with bathtub shower combos. The orginal cast iron bath tubs are a little larger than standard, making it great for baths! Each bathroom is stocked for your stay including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels, and toilet paper.

The interior layout resembles an alley style home where you go through one room to get to the next. The two bedrooms are adjoinging the hot tub room. You must walk through one bedroom to the hot tub room, then to the second bedroom. Being an older building the ceilings are lower than standard height.

While yes, this is an older property, I don’t think that detracts from how cozy and comfortable the stay here is. There’s plenty of space and beds available and the hot tub is a much welcomed bonus! The property is very close to the central shops and restaurants of Red Lodge and there’s also tons of trails within 20 minutes of here. Something also worth noting is you’re right in the middle of beautiful nature here. You can often see deer in the yard and even some turkeys roaming around. This is the epitome of relaxation and I’d highly recommend if you’re in Red Lodge.

Older property that can benefit from some modern upgrades. Dimly lit living areas that need more light. Outlets need modernizing because the wall plugs don’t retain your cord. Water heater next to toilet in tiny main bathroom. Would like to see tankless heater in that close proximity. Bath light switches would be nice inside the bath instead of out. Kitchen light is plug in and it’s on, unplug to turn off. Connect that to a regular wall light switch. Hollow core front door doesn’t provide good feelings of proper security without deadbolt and weather stripping needs repaired.

We apologize you were disappointed with the homes age. This is an old cabin that does show its wrinkles for certain. We try very hard to be transparent that this is a cabin experience and many of the modern home amenities are not available in a historic homes such as this. We appreciate your feedback.

This is a very dated property. since we went up over valentine's day, the staff left a box of chocolates for us which was a nice touch. uneven floors and bathroom fixtures that are very difficult to shot off and a shower head that doesn't move. Only half of the hot tub worked and there is only one jet setting. Electric baseboard heaters are very loud at night. Also, the hot tub is outside the main bedroom and goes off all night. Lots of room and plenty of towels and bedding essentials, but no instruction on where to put the used bedding before we left. No forced air for heat. Living room has a small gas fireplace and there was a space heater in another bedroom. overall it was kinda meh. would be a good place for a bunch of skiers just looking for a place to sleep, but for a romantic valentine's weekend getaway, this isn't the place. probably won't be back.

A nice place to stay that is close to town and very pet-friendly. We enjoyed sitting in the yard to watch the fireworks display and being able to walk to town for the parades and festivities.

Clean place. Very dated. Beds were okay but could use some upgrades. The host was very communicative. Relatively easy to find and a good location. Just a bit overpriced for a cabin of this age and condition.
