Nestled amid the Catskill and the Shawangunk ranges, Stone Ridge Mountain House is a modern retreat. This bright, fully renovated residence pairs the designer accommodations and amenities of a boutique hotel with the comforts of a family home.
Centrally located in the Hudson Valley just 90 minutes from New York City, this stylish and spacious four-bedroom ranch is close to Woodstock, Kingston, Mohonk Preserve, Phoenicia, and the best hiking in the Catskills.
Enjoy over two quiet acres surrounded by towering firs, maple, and birch trees. Enter the inviting great room, featuring 15’ vaulted ceilings and plenty of space to gather. French doors open to a wraparound deck that overlooks seasonal Mohonk views in the primary bedroom. Its luxurious ensuite bath features a Campan marble vanity, an oversized walk-in shower crowned with a skylight, and heated floors. Ideal for privacy, three additional bedrooms including a flexible office or children’s room, are located on the opposite side of the home. The floors are also heated in the guest bath, which offers a bathtub and double vanity.
The dining room opens to another deck, perfect for indoor/outdoor entertaining. The centerpiece Levanto table seats up to eight. Every detail in the kitchen was considered for creating moments to savor—from exquisite coffee to family meals inspired by Phoenicia Diner to a well-crafted nightcap.
Stone Ridge is centrally located between the Catskill Mountains, Mohonk Preserve, and the Shawangunk Ridge, as well as the vibrant towns of Kingston, Woodstock, Phoenicia, and New Paltz—so the best hiking, sightseeing, dining, shopping, and art of the Mid-Hudson Valley are only a stone’s throw away. Within a short drive you’ll find farmer’s markets, breweries, wineries, extraordinary restaurants, popular wedding venues, golf at Inness, and Thistle, an Auberge Spa. Also accessible are Hunter Mountain (50 min) and Windham Mountain (1 hour) ski resorts, as well as cultural attractions like Storm King Art Center (50 min) and Dia Beacon (50 min).
Our home is most easily accessed by car and is located 15 minutes from exit 18 off the NYS Thruway. There are public transportation options to get here but having a car is essential for getting around the area once you arrive.
For those traveling from NYC: the Adirondack Trailways bus line out of Port Authority stops in Rosendale, which is a short drive away. There is also an Amtrak station in Rhinecliff (30 min away) and a Metro North stop in Poughkeepsie (40 min away).
