The Cabin was an amazing get away for us. The cabin has everything you need for a relaxing time away. This was our 2nd time staying at the cabin it was as great the 2nd time as the first.

River access for fishing and kayaking and close proximity to New River Trail State Park are all real pluses for this cute, comfy, well-equipped cabin. Wish we could have stayed longer! Very relaxing.

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin and highly recommend it for a relaxing getaway. We were traveling with our two dogs and really appreciated how dog‑friendly the space was. Having towels and linens provided was a huge convenience — it saved us from packing extra items and made settling in easy.The cabin was well‑stocked with most everything we needed, including paper goods, spices, condiments, books, and other thoughtful touches that many cabins don’t offer. We loved starting our mornings with coffee and ending our evenings with wine on the back deck.One suggestion would be to add a nicer fire pit with comfortable seating down by the river. It would make an already great property even better.

I love your suggestion. The flood in 2024 washed away our furniture and dock. We replaced the dock last year. This year we plan to upgrade the firepit and chairs. We appreciate your suggesion. Thank you.

Fireflies is a wonderful home on a beautiful property. Our hosts could not have been more hospitable. Everything we needed was provided, and beyond. We hope to return to this property again, and highly recommend it.

If I could rate this house 4-1/2, I would. It was a very nice place for me, my wife, and my dog. The owners live on the property, but never intruded. The yard is huge and the New River is amazing. The only complaint I have is that the property owners required our dog to be kept on the outside porch while we were gone to VA Tech's graduation. It was 35 degrees when we left him early in the morning and he was stuck on the porch for 7 hours. Otherwise, this was a great place to stay!

It is regretable that your intial plan for your dog was unavailable. We are pleased that we were able to offer you the option of bringing your pet and not having to make last minute adjustments for this special event. Having been in business since 2010, and always pet friendly, we did encounter pet damage in the early years. We then made a decision to require crating, use the porch or take your pet with you. Our other alternative would be no pets allowed. We love our dog and understand the difficulties when traveling with a pet. However we will continue to be pet friendly and ask our guest to not leave their pet in the cabin alone.

We retired to the New River Valley in 2008 having lived in the southern portion of New Jersey. Kathie was an elementary school principal and Bill ran a small contracting business.

Bill and his father built the cabin in 2009. The cabin was designed and furnished with our future guests in mind. Our aim has always been to make our guests' stay relaxing. We make every effort to make Fireflies Cabin your home away from home.

The cabin has been designed and located on the property in such a way that you feel like you are far 'away from it all' while being only 5 miles from Interstate 81 and 800 feet off of route 100 (Wysor Highway).Our very own floating dock sits on the river in front of the cabin. It is great for fishing and swimming.
