This newly renovated(June 2023,) four bedroom two bath home is a five minute walk to historical downtown Staunton. On Saturday mornings from April through November could enjoy the farmers market which is also less than a five minute walk.

House itself was great, location was fun with it being close to downtown. The roads are really narrow and there isn't much space for parking. (We had two vehicles) Also the bed upstairs is very loud, just moving around in the bed caused it to squeak, making it really hard to have two people in bed, without disrupting the other.

Our stay at the red house was beyond our expectations! The home was extremely clean, organized, and full of amenities to make our stay so very enjoyable. We walked to town by way of the park and train crossover, which was a short distance away.

The Red House was perfect for a family “girl’s” antiquing trip to Staunton. There were 8 of us and we had plenty of room. The house was clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated and located close to downtown. The only suggestion we have is to put a mirror in the downstairs bathroom…ladies need mirrors when getting ready

Nice house, walking distance to downtown, over the train station, the theater is like 12 min walk. We didn't use our car at all while in town.Pets welcome was appreciated, as our son has 2 dogs. The kitchen has more pots, pans etc than most VRBOs, nice. We even used the oven!

Very nice house. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The house probably is .5 mile from the town. However, it is a rough go to walk. There are hills and 40 steps across a railroad track to get there. No problem if you are in good shape. In addition, the description should include the fact that the steps are very steep and narrow to the basement (no railing, only a wall to hold on to). There is no bathroom in the basement which could be a problem for some. Also, there is no AC in the basement and venture to guess no heat. It is stuffy in the basement. All of that said, it was a great place, we had a wonderful time and would rent it again. Just concerned it might not be for everyone and they should know that in advance.

Girlfriend Getaway

The house was very clean and everything worked very efficiently. Lots of nice touches beds really comfy. Very convenient to all of the local downtown shopping. Will definitely stay again.

JMU Grad Visit

Great location when visiting JMU. House was very clean and well equipped. Owners were excellent and responded very quickly to any inquiries and provided great recommendations for area restaurants.

Kitchen was great. Bathroom shower was even better. Location was good and house was clean. Two bedrooms down steep stairs and two bedrooms up steep stairs. I am 78 so I slept on the couch. (Which does fold out to a bed). Couldn’t find a thermostat and it was a little chilly on main floor. Those upstairs said it was warm and comfortable. Those who were downstairs enjoyed the cool sleeping conditions. Oh yeh, the thermostat was upstairs. It was a well cared for house.

Staunton Stay

This was a nice stay for our family. Clean and safe with nice modern amenities. Staunton is full of great shops, culinary experiences and the Black Friar. Oh, and dragons!

Friend's weekend

We wanted a place within walking distance of town and this fit perfectly. Six of us were comfortable and enjoyed our stay. The place was very clean and prepared for us on arrival. I'll probably book the same next year

Great Place!

This house is great! It’s clean and newly remodeled. It actually can sleep more than 8 since there are 4 bedrooms and a sleeper sofa. The Sears bridge makes it easy to get to downtown where one can enjoy all of the terrific restaurants and other downtown establishments! Definitely would stay here again.

60th birthday celebration

4 friends celebrating an upcoming birthday and friendship. Home was exactly as described and exactly what we hoped. So close to a vibrant downtown with great shops and delicious restaurants.

Convenient location

Location was convenient for our activities; quiet neighborhood. There's no AC in bottom 2 bedrooms but it was cool enough at night for sleeping. Basic kitchen items were provided & overall comfortable place to stay.

Great Place to Stay

Lovely old house, nicely renovated and very convenient walk to town. We'd never been to Staunton before and really enjoyed the Shakespeare theater, the restaurants, and nearby hikes. Our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter appreciated the children's books and toys used as decorations in some of the bedrooms. The house was spotless.

Red house review

This was a great little place for the weekend. It is close to downtown and one can hear all the trains as they roll through, part of the charm of Staunton. The walking route to town was closed during our stay but that was no big deal. Its a two minute drive down the hill to anything one would like to experience. Lovely time!
