Leucadia Beach Grotto | Private Coastal Retreat

Welcome to Leucadia Beach Grotto, your newly renovated guest suite just blocks from the beach, inviting restaurants, and local markets. With a relaxed, surf-inspired style and thoughtful comforts, this private retreat is ideal for a romantic escape or a peaceful work-from-home getaway.

Located behind the separate main residence, the suite features its own gated entrance and two dedicated parking spaces—one inside the gate and one in the driveway. The backyard, pool, and BBQ area are exclusively yours to enjoy during your stay.

Pets are welcome! There’s a nearby park for walks and fresh air. Please select “I am traveling with pets” when booking and register all pets in advance. A pet fee applies.

Enjoy convenient self-check-in through the private rear gate, with keys provided in a lockbox.

• Maximum occupancy is two guests, regardless of the available sleeping arrangements.
• Your guest count must match your reservation.
• Please disclose any proposed outside visitors at booking, including those who will not stay overnight, and obtain approval before inviting them.
• Outdoor quiet hours begin at 10 PM.
• Please treat the suite, outdoor spaces, and landscaping with care. For stays of three nights or longer, we may ask for a little help watering the plants.

We had a wonderful extended weekend at the Grotto with our dog. The owner was very accomodating and checked in with us to make sure all was going well during our visit. The check-in progress was easy. The property was nicely equipped with everything we needed for our stay.We enjoyed our meals on the lovely patio by the pool as the weather was just perfect.The location is very close to the beaches, shopping and downtown. We can only highly recommend this host and we would consider another stay in the future.The property was very clean and we felt very comfortable during our stay.

This place was amazing! The perfect location very private and safe and close to everything. The outside pool patio was a huge plus especially traveling with Tallulah our 3 yr old pitbull. Jason was a great host and made me feel extremely comfortable through the whole booking process and stay. I would definitely book this again, hopefully sooner than later!

Outstanding place to stay if you are planning a trip to Encinitas. The property has everything you could need and the host is super responsive. A nice extra is the pool just steps away from your accommodations. We will be back one day!

This property is all about the outdoor options. great seating, pool, loungers etc. our 15 year old labrador was very comfortable as well. walking distance to food spots makes things easy, and only 10 minutes from moonlight state beach.

Location!!!

We and our pup had a great stay. Now we’re looking for reasons to go back so we have more time to explore the neighborhoods, food options and the beaches. Very private and quiet.

The host was so helpful and accommodating.Jason provided us with great information about local restaurants and stores. He also responded very quickly to all messages answering all questions. The house and outdoor pool area was very quiet and relaxing. A true oasis.

The Grotto was such a delightful place to stay! It was very quiet and we woke up each day to the sound of birds chirping. Jason was a fantastic host -- he was very responsive and gave clear, concise instructions. The property was easy to find and well-located. I started most days with a run along the path 2 blocks away and finished with a dip in the pool. The Grotto was also the perfect place to vacation with our dog!

Perfect Getaway

My partner and I stayed for two nights with our two dogs. We were able to enjoy the whole property and loved that the pool was completely private. It was the perfect little getaway to celebrate our anniversary. We also appreciated that Jason and Denise were very communicative. Would highly recommend this property!

Short and Sweet

Stayed for a few days early November. Easy to find in quiet neighborhood and nearby beach access as well as great places to eat. Property and living area are super clean and provides much privacy. Two thumbs up for extra comfy bed!!

Super clean and pet friendly

This place is fantastic! It’s in a safe neighborhood, close to the beach, pet friendly, very comfortable, fairly priced, and exceptionally clean. What more could you want? We stayed over a month with a dog and cat and loved every minute of it. Thanks Jason and Denise for sharing this wonderful home with us!

Perfect beach getaway with our Labrador retriever. The Grotto had everything we needed and Jason the host was very welcoming and responsive. It was close to all kinds of restaurants and within a short drive of dog beach in Del Mar. The weather was exactly what we were looking for, an escape from the Arizona heat. We will definitely rebook this one.

Family visit

Our host was very accommodating. We had an issue with some rain and they came within a half hour to address the problem. Check in and check out was easy. Place was clean and met our needs.

My wife and I frequently vacation to San Diego. This is by far the best experience we’ve had renting out a place. Everything was very clean. The hosts also made sure to think about nearly everything someone would need including towels, beach equipment, floaties for the pool, aloe Vera, mosquito repellent. The small details is what makes this the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re living in a home away from home. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Great relaxing vibes with awesome amenities. Pool, bed and bathroom were elite!

The Leucadia Beach Grotto was a great find in this quaint seaside town. The private enclosed yard was perfect for relaxing by the pool and very dog friendly! I appreciated our host, Jason, welcomed our little pup with a bowl of water and dog biscuit. The place was super clean and the Keurig coffee machine with pods was an added bonus. The secure off street parking was also nice in an area where parking can be limited. Jason was super responsive to messages and informative about the area. I’ll definitely be back when in the area again.

The place was extremely clean and approachable. having our own pool and space was amazing. The walk to the beach is a little longer than expected. However, it was great to get a lot of walking in the warm weather. Thank you Jason! Great Job!

Clean, Convenient Location

We had an good experience staying at this property. The property was very clean, exactly as described, and met our expectations. The neighborhood is walkable and is a quick drive to restaurants and shops. Jason provided a water bowl and a cushion for our dog, which was very thoughtful, and there is a small turf area for dog potty breaks. The owner was incredibly responsive and provided clear instructions for self-check-in and checkout, which made the process stress-free. I recommend this place to anyone traveling with pets or looking for a clean and convenient vacation rental!

Convenient, private and comfortable property. The private pool and outdoor patio space was such a nice bonus and the unit was very clean and comfortable! Really appreciated the extra touches that helped our stay be more comfortable, such as access to beach chairs, extra blankets, pool floats, etc. Lots of things to make the stay more comfortable that are typically not included in rentals these days. Jason, the host, was extremely responsive and accommodating. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
