Overlooking a beautifully manicured backyard, with BBQ, outdoor fireplace, picnic table and ample parking this large private retreat is perfect for those seeking an Adirondack Escape.
A short stroll brings you to The Pond and The Fulton Chain of Lakes, Moose River, boat rentals, public beach and tennis courts, restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. Scenic McCauley Mt. Chair Lift is a 5 minute car ride from the property.
Relax in the large living room. Dining room table can accommodate up to 10 people. Fully equipped kitchen. Back and side lawns offer plenty of room for outdoor enjoyment.

SUMMER DAYS - our spacious, grassy lawns offer the perfect setting for outdoor games or soaking up the ADK sun. Seating is also available under the covered portico, (see photos).
SUMMER NIGHTS - enjoy a BBQ and then relax under the stars around our outdoor fireplace, perhaps take a stroll through town, less than one block away!

First Floor - LR, DR, KIT, Laundry-mudroom, BR#1 twin beds (2), BR#2 bunk beds, and one full bathroom located on this floor. An enclosed, heated porch/library room offers great office and/or relaxing space as well as 2 twin beds.
Second Floor: BR#3 master bedroom with king size bed, BR#4 queen size bed, and one full bathroom on second floor. (All bedrooms offer plenty of floor space for a porta-crib)

Wonderful location near the heart of Old Forge — close to the hardware store, restaurants, and the Moose River, with ample parking and beds. That said, the house is showing its age, and concerns raised in other reviews don’t appear to have been addressed. We woke up to no hot water one morning, which was corrected by mid-afternoon. Only two window air conditioners cover the upstairs bedrooms, which isn’t clear from the listing. A caretaker and his dog live in the home and was present frequently throughout our stay. Housekeeping fell short in several areas: bathrooms weren’t thoroughly cleaned, window sills had visible dirt, and bath mats were nailed to the floor, making it unclear how they’re cleaned between stays. Given the home’s age and issues, we’d recommend future guests set expectations accordingly, particularly around AC coverage and cleanliness.The owner has advised that our concerns will be addressed immediately for future guests.

Nice stay

We enjoyed our stay. Could use little bit more cleaning however overall a great time! Close to town and walked to fireworks. The caretaker Ron was extremely nice and considerate. Thank you Ron for walk down memory lane of Union and Monmouth County. You are special man!!!

Golf trip

Spent a few days at the house and played golf with friends. Great location that is near the restaurants and bars. Everything that you need is in walking distance!

Great location for downtown Old Forge

The house is one block from all star shops and dining but still has a secluded yard with fire pit. Some things in the house could be updated but everything was clean. Really great location for families. Property owner was responsive with any questions we had. worked and was clean

The Big Red House

Walk to town. Close to all there is in Old Forge. I had cleaning to do. The home had not been rented in months. The house was big and spacious. Many places for family and grandchildren to sleep. The upstairs renter Ron was friendly and very helpful. The owner let me stay later so I cleaned and laundered the whole house. This house is pricey but if you need a lot of space and want a walkable stay; this is the ticket. The home was built in 1936. Lots of built ins. Would recommend for large families who are not picky.

This was, without question, the worst rental experience my family and I have ever had. The listing was highly misleading, and the property was far below any reasonable standard for a vacation rental.Upon arrival, the house was extremely dirty. There were accumulations of dust everywhere, including under the beds. The couches were stained, filthy, and covered in grime. The refrigerator still had food residue and leftovers from previous guests. My wife had to clean it before we could store groceries, as there was no other option.The exterior was also unacceptable. The entrance and walkway were covered with uncollected dog waste, making it unsanitary and unpleasant to enter, showing poor maintenance.Several essentials were missing or inadequate. No proper bed linens were provided on arrival, and we later found them still in the washing machine. One bedroom was unusable due to water damage, and another had no heat.There were major maintenance issues. A strong odor from the basement spread throughout the house. The hot water tank broke during our stay, requiring repairs. Several dining chairs were broken and unsafe.Parking was misrepresented, with no space for large trailers and shared areas leaving insufficient parking. Privacy was also a concern, as a neighboring tenant repeatedly entered or attempted access without permission.Additional issues included a small 36-inch TV and an entrance covered in snow and ice, creating a safety hazard.

Great location

Location to the town was perfect. House is big so lots of room. However, not enough toilet paper, trash bags or paper towels. When I called the property manager I was told to go and buy them and save receipts. For the price of this property I should not have to do that. Also the dishes were dirty so we had to wash before use but good thing I brought paper plates and plastic silverware. The upstairs neighbor was very nice and assisted us with a fish hook injury (Thank you Ron). House could have been cleaner and dog poop in yard should have been picked up. Do watch out for deer poop, we all did enjoy watching the deer!

Great Winter lodge.

Although a little dated we found the home to a perfect winter lodge. There was plenty of parking and the neighbors were very helpful accomodating 3 trucks and snowmobile trailers. Once we settled in we were able to walk anywhere in town. We enjoyed some good times in the large main Dining/living room before venturing out. The bedrooms were large and comfortable. Two of the rooms were adjoining but you had the option of seperate enterances. The kitchen had plenty of pots, pans, dishes and impliments as well as all the kitchen standards found in most homes. Only real minor complaint was the uneven heating but thats to be expected in an old home. We found that if we left the bathroom and bedroom doors open the home heated much more evenly. We plan on spending another long winter snowmobiling weekend there again next season. Looking for Great times with great friends, this is a great place to do it.

The photos of this home must be 20 years old!!! This home was not as expected! Run down!!! Cob webbs in all corners of the home. Grass not mowed under the picnic table. Fire pit was a disappointment. No garbage bags! Had to go buy them. TV - The remote would not work correctly- couldn’t use it. The beds were not comfortable. On the positive side it was big enough for a large family! And close to main street.

Covid disaster

The property is very nice, but we didn’t get to enjoy it. My younger daughter, her husband and son couldn’t make it because they had Covid. My wife and I arrived Thursday and were waiting for my older daughter, her husband and two children, when I decided to test myself for Covid. Of course it was positive so my wife and I checked into a hotel for the night to quarantine from my daughter’s family. Our visit to Old Forge to celebrate with 25 family members was officially ruined so we all drove home the next day. Our host Manzurul was very sympathetic and we are waiting on some kind of refund from him for the 3 nights we couldn’t stay

Great location!

This home is in the perfect location; right in town and I’m walking distance to stores, restaurants, the TOBIE trail, Maple Ridge exercise trail, Moose River and Lake front, the movie theater etc. With a few tweaks this place would be top notch; it has great bones (hardwood floors, built in bookcases with tons of games etc), but new linens/bedding/upstairs mattress (needs to be replaced (major sagging)/replace or paint dated wallpaper this place would be even better. The kitchen is older/dated but provides more than everything you need. I saw other people complain about seeing the unfinished basement when you come in, but that didn’t bother us because it wasn’t like we were hanging out in the entryway. With just a little love this place could be a premium property. The living space is great! Large family table for board games and living room is large with ample seating. There is plenty of parking and a fire pit out back. The enclosed front porch was one of our favorite rooms. The house is shared but the tenant is helpful and friendly. If you are looking to come to old forge with your family I would recommend this place. Five stars with a little bit of updating!

Not whole house, moldy duplex nightmare

We arrived to what we expected would be a private whole house to find a weird split entryway leading to another apartment and our 'section' of the house. Also in this entry way is an open corridor leading down to a musty smelling basement. Inside the house, we find previous water damage in the ceiling of a bedroom. It appears they stopped the leak but never replaced the ceiling tiles and any other damage caused, this is in the room we planned to have our 1 year old daughter sleep (not any more!) The smell of mold/must was overwhelming. in addition, large open grates lead from the living-room (mostly as pictured) to the musty basement (not to ducts, directly to the gross basement). We discovered all of this in the first 2 minutes of entering the apartment. We go upstairs to continue our investigation and find a door to another apartment, behind a curtain, in the hallway. This was the final straw, and we booked a hotel a left. I contacted the property manager with these concerns and heard nothing back for 2 days. Also contacted VRBO for a refund (since we paid for a whole house, not a dirty apartment) and they refused as well.

Sorry to read about your experience Clyde. As advertised, it is a 5 BR house with separate entrances, not a duplex. There's an apt in the same building which has a separate entry, and there's no communication between the lodge and the 1 BR apt. Ther entrance to the basement is as you enter the main house, but it's not an open corridor (blocked off with a lock on the door, which only service personnel usually enter), and certainly not 'musty' or moldy... Due to heavy rain, some of the ceiling panels had been damaged, and this was communicated to the renter prior to arrival. I had my contractor fix it immediately (within 24 hours of the rainfall). You had contacted me and my property manager via text messages re: the apt, and we were quick to respond back within minutes. So not sure how you didn't hear any response for 2 days.... Although I can empathize with your negative experience at the lodge, with all due respect, I strongly disagree with your perception of "overwhelming smell of mold/must," "gross basement" etc. We take pride in keeping the place clean and sanitized. Adirondack adventure

Close to lots of different adventure opportunities, and an easy walk to “downtown” Old Forge. Plus you get to watch the backyard deer and see evidence of a wandering bear. Bring your own washcloths.

Disappointed family vacation stay

Disappointed - needs updating. We knew the home was old, but the steps are decayed and not safe. Entryway smelled, dirty and the whole house was musty. It was missing a bed! Property manager had answering service and didn’t seem to care that we didn’t have enough places to sleep our group. The owner said he wasn’t even aware a bed was missing. We had to buy a blow-up to sleep everyone. We found out from a contractor that the roof leaked in that bedroom as they were repairing the roof. The contractors were very noisy and their language was totally unacceptable around our kids. Mattresses we did have were hard and very uncomfortable. The tub in the upstairs bathroom is curved , slippery and dangerous. Had several close calls and one of us did fall. Best part was the location. We enjoyed the large yard including the fire pit. In summary we will not rent here again. The place was not worth the price we paid and we have been coming to Old Forge for 60 years. Disappointing!

Needs updates, more cleaning

The property was not very clean when we arrived. The beds were made and no dishes or garbage but everything was dusty, cob webby and the floors were pretty dirty. Especially under the beds. The property needs new furniture and some updating. The Tennant was a little rude and annoying as well. The best thing it has going is its large and can fit a big family comfortably.

Ski weekend

Comfortable in a Perfect Location

Enjoyed the house, a quirk I have never encountered before - there is a garbage collection day however the request was to take the Garbage to a transfer station Basically one has to drive their garbage several blocks. ??? Other than the garbage detail the stay was Comfortable.

Awesome birthday snowmobile friends fun weekend!

We had 5 couples stay and play! Close to town close to snowmobiling… the heating could be zoned a bit better and beds could be set up better so couples could sleep in same bed but each got their own room.

This lovely property is ideally located less than a block off Main St./Route 28 in the heart of Old Forge. Just around the corner is our favorite coffee shop where guests often stop in before a short walk to the beach and lake front. A perfect start to any summer day! In the evening enjoy cocktails and casual dinning at many of the nearby restaurants. Upon returning to the house enjoy an evening fire in the outdoor fireplace under a starry Adirondack night sky.
Our community is a summer paradise and a winter wonderland and our property is perfectly equipped and situated for our guests to take advantage of all the fun and adventure that summer and winter sports and entertainment have to offer. Come and enjoy with us!
