Welcome to Mecca, a petite hotel that caters to discerning adult travels who enjoy the amenities of a hotel and the comforts of home. A place of peace, relaxation and rejuvenation, Mecca is a hidden away, gated property that is surrounded by lush gardens and fruit trees, and conveniently located to the beach (Playa Negra-7min walk) and Puerto Viejo Central (15 min walk).
The Upstairs Suite at Mecca features three cozy, en suite rooms that are styled to highlight local textiles, architecture, and artwork. Each room has AC, ceiling fan, private bathroom with hot water, closet, bedding, safe, bath towels, pool towels, soap, writing table and stool, unique wall mural.
Property amenities include wifi (fiber optic and satellite), outdoor pool (shared), fire pit/barbecue area, vegetable and fruit garden for guest use, outdoor shower, fully equipped kitchen (exclusive use), secure parking spaces, two bars, pool bathroom, free use of bicycles, electric scooters available for rent, laundry facilities, airport shuttle (separate fee), games, 55” smart tv in living area, spacious dining area, Sonos sound system, concierge service, and breakfast upon request (separate fee).

I am originally from Tuscaloosa Alabama. I graduated from Howard University and Georgetown Law. After working for 20 years as a corporate attorney, I quit in October 2021. While taking a sabbatical to Bocas del Toro, Panama, I happen to travel to a quaint, serene beach town with Caribbean flavor and warm vibes—Puerto Viejo. One week later I returned, purchased a property and started creating my new dream—Mecca. FYI- my home sale process was featured on House Hunters International in February 2023.

I love living in Playa Negra because of the beautiful, quiet beach. I also love that we are centrally located between Hone Creek and Puerto Viejo central, and just a 7 minute drive to Cocles, 8 minute drive to Bribri Waterfalls, 15 drive to Cahuita National Park, 25 minute drive to Manzanillo National Park, and 55 minute drive to Limon. Because we are located just off the main road (Ruta 256), guests have front door access to the Mepe bus, tuktuks, and taxis.
