About this space
Step back in time in this Mount Dora home filled with the original charm and character of the 50’s! Wake up to birds singing & a breathtaking view of spring fed Lake Ola. This 3 bed 2 full bath home has all the original craftsmanship along with a Tennessee stone fireplace. Inspired by Mid century design with several pieces remaining from the original owner of 60 years. The back yard is a relaxing dream filled with incredible landscape including oak, powder puff, magnolia & tabulia trees.
Butterfly Cottage is a beautiful 3 bedroom 2 bath home with a views of Lake Ola from the living room and front bedroom. The home is filled with charm & character of the 50's&60's. I bought the home 2 years ago from the original owner who lived and raised her family there for over 60 years! I knew the home had to be someplace special and it certainly is! I chose to keep the floorpan and restore the integrity of the home by adding luxury vinyl flooring throughout and refinishing/updating the bathrooms. The cabinets in the kitchen are original cedar. I had them painted Jadeite color, a popular glass color used during that time. I believe every home has a story to tell and I love to bring that story to life! My daughter & I enjoyed living there so much! One of my favorite things was waking up to enjoy coffee in the living room chair while looking at Lake Ola & listening to the songbirds & wind chimes. The sunroom with the Tennessee stone fireplace was the room I fell in love with the most. I enjoyed many afternoon naps on that gold couch. That's where I noticed all the butterflies surrounding the gorgeous backyard. Hence the name of the home that I am thrilled to offer to travelers in and outside of Mount Dora. It’s in a perfect location only a 7 min drive to historic downtown Mount Dora. Close to Renningers, The Sydonie Mansion & many other wedding venues! Quick drive to Rock Springs, Wekiva Island & close to the 429 making it an easy commute to all of central Florida including the theme parks and the beaches! Come and relax while experiencing how the locals live in a private, peaceful setting with all of the amenities and comforts of home including a fully stocked kitchen along with clean fresh linen & towels!Guest access
The entire home along with fully fenced .30 of an acre yard is available to my guests!

All was good cleanTime at rental was minimal as we were on the go. Back yard looked outstanding good size to enjoy patio area was a place to enjoy and cookout.

Beautiful yard and view. Host is quick with communication. Property is quiet. This is an on older home with a few quirks, but that makes the charm. Enjoyed our stay and will return.

Felt Like Home!

What a wonderful experience it was staying at this beautiful home. The house felt so cozy and brought back wonderful memories of living in Florida. The home was very clean and inviting and Sarah was a wonderful and attentive host. There were a few activities we had planned that we decided to forego, just so we could spend more time relaxing at "home". We will definitely be back for another stay!

We had an excellent stay. This house is in a quiet neighborhood and has plenty of room for a couple or small family. The wireless internet is fast with a strong signal throughout the house. There is a big back yard with many nice plantings. We were only there a few days and experienced no problems. The host provided everything we needed for the stay (towels, paper products, coffee, etc.) We mostly ate out but noticed that there were plenty of cooking utensils pots and pans etc. The HVAC controls were easy to use. The TV in the front parlor had all the streaming services available plus live channels. There is a very comfortable second seating area (family room) in the back of the house with a fireplace and comfy chairs for reading and relaxing. Dowtown Mt Dora is only 7 minutes away, very easy to get to. All three bedrooms have comfortable queen beds and clothing storage (dressers or armoires). We would definitely stay here again.

We had a party of 6, and this was a fantastic stay for us! We use the kitchen to prepare meals to keep traveling costs down, and the kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed, which makes a huge difference. The house has lots of room for lounging and socializing. Having two full baths was really nice as well. The entire property is very clean, and well maintained. We love a beautiful mid-century house that has modern amenities, but keeps the original charm. This was a great stay for us, as we went from Mt. Dora (less than a 10 minute drive) to local springs @15 minutes. We'll be back to the area, and will stay here for sure!The host was fantastic too! Welcoming and very easy to get in touch with!

I especially love catching the sunsets on Lake Ola, going to estate sales and all the quaint shops & restaurants Mount Dora has to offer. I love anything filled with character & historic charm. I enjoy hiking; water adventures in nature like boating, kayaking, beaching and tubing, all can be enjoyed right here in our town coined "Someplace Special". I believe every home has a story to tell and I love bringing that story to life through decor and design. The hospitality industry was one of my first passions so I am thrilled to combine that now with my career in real estate!

I bought my first home in the Ola Beach community in 2017 and fell in love with it! I love walking down to the lake to catch the sunset and looking at the homes with so much charm and character. I was so grateful for the opportunity to purchase my second home Butterfly Cottage that has the gorgeous view of Lake Ola.

Butterfly Cottage is unique because of the story it tells. It is easy to recognize that the home has been loved by the original owner of over 60 years. I chose to keep the integrity of the home like the kitchen cabinets and Tennessee stone fireplace while updating and refreshing the rest. I love the mid century theme and as well as the chandelier and other light fixtures from the 50's! The tongue and groove wood sunroom with coffee & wine bar is a fantastic space for reuniting, napping and entertaining!
