Xanadu is the closest you can be to the ocean without taking a cruise vacation. As you arrive on location, driving over the bluff, you are confronted with a panoramic view of water. This exclusive custom (ICF) constructed property comes with luxury appointments both in and out. Great for those who want to relax on the New Brunswick quarried slate patio watching fishermen directly out front in the early morning, whales, seals and eagles during the day or Hawaiian like sunsets, shooting stars and satellites during the night. To the discerning chef, the kitchen has it all. If swimming is your thing, the water at the beach has been termed the 'Warmest North of the Carolina's'. We now offer unlimited high speed fibre-op internet service, which was recently made available by Bell to the area.

The surrounding area is great for the active individual interested in water sports, hiking at Cape George(lighthouse site which inspired Robert Munsch book of the same name) or cycling around 'The miniature Cabot Trail' of the Cape.

The town of Antigonish, site of Highland Games and St. FX University, is only 15 minutes away. Here you can access any amenities you may require. The town also hosts an 18 hole golf course. For the serious golf enthusiast, the world class Cabot Links Golf Course is a 90 minute scenic drive away.

Beautiful place!

Everything about this cottage is stunning. We highly recommend staying here. The hosts were wonderful and so very accommodating. We were met with a warm fire, candles, music and perfect lighting on our rainy evening arrival. A must if you are in the area!!

Fantastic Cottage and Location

This cottage was fantastic, very clean, well furnished and decorated with a relaxing feel. Right on the ocean for great views, sounds and sunsets. Paul and Heidi were excellent hosts and so were Milo and Enzo the wonderful furry (dogs) attendants making sure we had everything needed. We would recommend this cottage to anyone and would certainly stay again when in the area.

Beautiful stay with a panoramic view

First, just a beautiful place inside and out. As my wife and I like to cook, we can say this was the best equipped kitchen we've cooked in, and you can watch the sea as you do it. We had a great time relaxing and reading, watching the lobster boats at work.

A True Gem

This property is absolutely amazing and it is situated right on the water of the Northumberland Strait. Paul and Heidi are premier hosts who are ready to answer any questions and are so helpful.My husband and I enjoyed every minute of our stay!

Can’t get enough of this beautiful place!

This was my third time staying at this beautiful cottage! I come every few years to visit family, and I plan my trip around when the cottage is available. My friends know this is one of my favorite places on earth! Paul and Heidi are incredible hosts!

Gem by the sea!

Enjoyed our stay. Lovely sea breeze and exceptional views! Decor was beautiful. Kitchen very well stocked. Lucky for us it was lobster season. Paul went out of his way to get us lobster and kindly cooked it for us. Thanks again!

If I had know how wonderful this was, I would have booked it for a lifetime!

WOW!!!!! The house is absolutely gorgeous and the host, Paul, so genuine and welcoming. It was a cold day when we arrived and he had a fire in the fireplace, nice music playing, candles in the windows, and string lights on outside. Felt like home as soon as we walked in. The house is beautifully decorated, very comfortable and well appointed. Being dog lovers (especially Goldens in my case), it was an extra treat to be greeted by Enzo and Milo and watch some of their antics. Being cold and rainy some of the time, we really enjoyed the fireplace with coffee to start the day and wine after our hiking adventures. Paul was especially gracious to order lobsters for us, steam them, bring them over, and “chop” them so we could pick the sweet meat out. He is truly a gem of a host and we would definitely stay there again. Our only regret is that we didn’t meet his wife Cathie because we expect she is as special as he is.

Wonderful Getaway at Xanadu

We had a wonderful experience. Communication was clear and concise. The home itself was a beautiful custom built beach house; a new build encompaassing custom vintage features. The proporety is stunning, including a beach steps from the front door with very warm waters. We felt very fortunate to have stayed here and hope to avain soon. You will not be disappointed.

Ultimate comfort

This cottage has all the elements you need for a wonderful experience. Paul and Heidi have thought of everything. Wonderful seeing the lobster boats working up and down the coast. We arrived to a welcoming fire. Just perfect.

A little slice of heaven

Pictures simply do not do this place justice. It is truly a piece of heaven here on Earth. Paul and Heidi were gracious hosts, the house is beautiful, the view is even better, and we absolutely loved Enzo and Bella, their dogs, visiting often! The house is well stocked with what you need to cook amazing meals and there are blankets and comfy beds, and towels galore. We travel a lot and have 2 kids in wheelchairs, and this was the most comfortable we have ever been in a home. Such a great time! We hope to return in the future to this paradise and appreciate the hosts for their kindness!

Spectacular!

My husband and I spent an absolutely beautiful long fall weekend at Zanadu cottage. The ocean views are spectacular, the cottage immaculate both inside and out. Comfy and cozy. We were greeted first by Bella and Enzo (the family pets) and then Paul and Heidi. A very warm welcome. We were treated to a delicious, freshly caught, fish dinner followed by an evening around the fire. Thank you Heidi and Paul for a great weekend! Hope to visit again. Cheryl and Glenn

Incredible host, location and cottage

This property as been by far our favourite vacation we’ve ever had. The neighbours made us like forever friends. Bella girl and her furry companions friend were so nice to have around us. Perfection!

We absolutely loved this place! The View is absolutely gorgeous! The cottage has everything you could ever want….from a perfect seating area outside where we sat every night to watch the sunset. …to the most comfortable beds ! The kitchen is well stocked with every appliance you would ever need! We really enjoyed our stay and want to book this next year for a longer stay. Thanks Paul,Heidi and Bella….perfect hosts!

A little piece of heaven

We spent 3 nights at this amazing property. The cottage is beautiful. We enjoyed cooking in the open kitchen and sitting by the cozy fire. When the weather was nice we enjoyed explore the beach. The views and sunsets we incredible. We can't wait to go back.

Relaxing getaway

The house was very comfortable, well equipped and obviously a lot of love and care had hone into it. View over sea wonderful. We were unlucky with the weather but with the roaring fire and cosy surroundings we relaxed completely. Kind, responsive host. We would like to return later in the year.

Cozy Winter Escape

As the wind and snow swirled outside and the sea crashed sheets of ice at the beach below, we were snug and warm with the roaring fire. We felt as though we were in a snow globe. The sunsets were gorgeous. The area is rugged and beautiful.

My wife and I chose this location as it is only a 2 hour drive to Halifax Airport and it was one of the few properties on that shore where we could gain such access to the ocean with a house/cottage.

My wife and I both enjoy cooking and this was never far from our minds when we designed the kitchen for Xanadu. The area is open concept with high beamed ceilings and no matter where you stand, all you see is ocean. There are speaker systems both in and outside the living area, so you can have soft background music playing while you create dinner for the evening.
