Central location on a quiet side street for exploring Manitoulin. Full tourist info: powows, hiking trails, cycle routes etc. Sandy beach 200 metres. Hear the waves lapping on the Bay from the balcony or the lake-facing bedroom.

Boardwalk for moonrise or sunset walks. Annual Providence Bay Fair starts 3rd Friday in August. Parade, exhibits, rides, shows - always interesting. Before & after the Fair, very peaceful and relaxing.

Supply your own toiletries, bed sheets, pillowcases. Cleanup policy - leave it at least as clean as found..

Base family price (2 adults + kids under age 12) as per VRBO. Extra cost for adults beyond 2 (age 12 or over).

Wonderful historical spot with a big yard right in the Providence hub next to the beach. Great for a family.

Charming in beautiful location!

Charming, cozy and comfortable cottage in a beautiful part of Manitoulin island. 2 min walk to gorgeous sandy beach. Host was very responsive and accommodating. Would definitely go back. Thank you!

Mutchmor House - a great place to stay!

Mutchmor House is well-equipped, perfectly located, and so cozy and quaint. Great coffee shop right around the corner too! The house was perfect for my mom, who had her own little suite on the main floor. Chet was a great and responsive host. I highly recommend!

Family reconnecting

Great area (especially for younger kids). Good base to explore the area. The house was surprisingly modern dressed as a rustic cottage. All the necessary modern conveniences and very clean.

Amazing stay

We had the most magical week at the Mutchmor house. Chet was very helpful and the location of the house couldn’t be better in the whole of North America. The house came equiped with paddle board, fire pit, and many activities for kids. Chet and pat left some wonderful gifts of coffee and cinnamon rolls. We couldn’t have been happier. Hope to stay there again next year!!

Great place with everything you need

Our family stayed for a week it’s steps from the beach and boardwalk in Providence Bay We went swimming everyday and walks every morning Great place to relax and spend time with family The hoists are great very quick to respond and recommend places to see The house is very old in a good way lots of history and is decorated with lots of nice touches We will definitely come back and recommend this house to everyone Thanks again for having us

Great spot

The location was lovely, the beach was pristine, the cottage had an older feel and is doing good at 125 years old. Do note there is no A/C but was comfortable and had everything we needed. Also note there is a security camera at the front door that is monitored regularly by the owner. We really enjoyed our stay on Manitoulin and would return.

Providence Bay Family Time

Great way to introduce our son and his fiancé to Manitoulin Island. Providence Bay never disappoints. The Mutchmor House is an historic locale to use as a home base to some incredible day trips across the island. Then there’s the beach. Ohh the beach sunsets. ❤️

A comfortable stay

Kitchen was very well equipped for cookinwg and bakinh. Pleasant outdoor seating and eating space. Recreational equipment available Good indoor seating in diningroom and living room with additional spots for 2 at kitchen island. Internet was A1. Coffee make top of the line Enjoyed Ruko tv with news, entertainment, and music that was in premium youtube.

Spacious, short walk from the beach

We enjoyed our stay at Mutchmor House. Chet was eager to help and there were lots of extras provided - sand toys, canoe, paddle board, drying rack, full kitchen supplies and various pantry items. Not a big fan of the pay-per-guest model, especially for bigger families. The town was almost empty while we visited, with many places closed or only open Thurs-Sun. We loved that the house was a short walk from the beach, which was made even easier by the wagon available. Overall, a recommend!

We're so pleased that Mutchmor House suited your family. The alternative to charging for extra people would be an unusually high cost for just a small group. More guests = more wear & tear = more cost = less relaxation which is our main goal for our amazing guests.

Quaint Cottage in a Great Location

We stayed at this charming cottage for 2 weeks. The location is perfectly situated steps away from the beautiful beach in Providence Bay. Our older kids enjoyed using the paddleboat and kayak included at the cottage. The Canada Day fireworks on the beach were stunning (although our dog didn't care for them!). Easy access to other island activities - hiked several trails & went to an Aboriginal Pow Wow (a truly unique experience).

The good... Property was great, just a few steps away from the great beach in Prov.Host was great for communication and assisted in several ways. Overall the stay was great. Lots of items at the property to enjoy, bikes, kayak, laundry roomThe bad... but the previous guest did have a wet dog that stayed in the house which left a strong odor, Chet was able to assist in fixing this problem and have the odor removed without delay. There was also an electrical problem with one bathroom light and Chet made arrangements to have an electrician come and address the problem.

Great place to stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mutchmore House. The "cottage" is actually an interesting old home from the late 1800s. It was a great place to stay on the island and had everything you could want - bbq, microwave, fire pit, bicycles, canoe, satellite TV(that we never used). The place was clean and Chet ensures that it stays that way. Chet is a fantastic host (I defy you to find anyone better) and we enjoyed our many conversations with him - especially when he replied to our question with a song, as requested. We would like to return here in the future with the whole family. If you are looking for modern, this isn't for you. If you are looking for charm & character, this is the place. Also close to one of the best beaches on the island.

Most beautiful beach in Ontario

It was a joy to be so close to the beach and to have everything we needed. We met a lot of wonderful neighbours and community members - everyone was very friendly. Host was very helpful and communicative. If you are expecting new fixtures and finishes, this isn’t the place for you. If you appreciate historic homes that are cared for and appreciated and a little quirky, this is the place for you. The amount of rooms and space was incredible. Would have appreciated knowing there would be no cleaning service available - while we always leave places better than we found them, we deep clean enough after a young family at home that we don’t enjoy cleaning in vacation. Also the pillows and blankets could use updating. Otherwise, an overall amazing experience and vacation location.

Glad you saw our quirky intentions. Yes, dependable help is a huge challenge in this tiny village. We tried. Your cleaning fee was refunded. Yes, pillows & blankets need updating. Our short rental season means we prioritize upgrades as affordable. New local bylaws have added to the costs. Doing our best.

Great location for a beach holiday

A great location within a couple minutes walk from beautiful Providence bay beach. On arrival we did have to do some vacuuming and cleaning to meet our standards. We contacted Chet and he did refund our cleaning fee. The kitchen is very well equipped for almost all cooking needs. We did find the bed in the master bedroom a little soft by our standards. The living space is large and comfortable. We unfortunately had a breaker go when a hair dryer was used and Chet guided us through the challenging effort of lifting a bed and carpet to get through a trap door to the basement. Being a cottage in the country there was a concern of mice and we were asked to put out traps. We cleaned before we left and felt we left it in better condition. I would recommend this location for a family holiday vacation and I am sure Chet will fix any shortcomings we may have observed.

Mutchmor House is ideally situated in the little town of Providence Bay. It is just a short walk to the most beautiful beach, just around the corner from a fabulous coffee shop/gift store, and a 4 minute walk to the best fish & chip spot! For those with an electric car, there is a convenient charging spot around the corner at the local motel. You just need to call ahead to make sure it’s available. Mutchmor House itself is a quaint, old cottage that dates back to the late 1800’s. It is filled with interesting historical paraphernalia. And outside, lovely gardens, a fire pit, which was wonderful to enjoy in the evenings. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking delicious meals. And it’s very spacious! Besides the dining room, there are 2 outdoor eating areas to choose from. The beds were clean and comfortable and there was plenty of space for our family (4 adults).Chet was quick to respond to our questions, and helped to make our stay comfortable. I highly recommend this cottage! I hope we are able to visit again next summer!

Perfect for our family including 2 small children and four adults. There were also more family - 2 adults and one baby - staying nearby. There was room for all of us at the dinner table and in the back yard. It is a lovely old house, beautiful spacious yard with deck, and, best of all, only steps from gorgeous Providence Bay Beach. The kitchen is well equipped.Be prepared for the minor inconveniences that occur when in a tourist location with a short season and limited resources. When problems occur, tradespeople are booked up and cannot attend. The biggest problem for us was that the host wanted us to take all our garbage and recycling home, because the municipality collects a limited amount only one day a week. We just could not take four days of trash and recycling with us on a two-plus day drive with already full cars and needing to cross the border. I know that this had annoyed the host, that we did not take trash and recycling. The host provided us with some special gifts because they knew we were celebrating a special occasion.There is no grocery in town, no convenience store, but there is a lovely coffee shop/cafe just a couple short blocks away. Attached to the coffee shop is an outstanding gift shop with local art and a variety of quality items at reasonable prices.

Cottage was rustic and fun. Great history. Lots of games inside and out. Kitchen had everything needed to enjoy meals at home. Great separate living area off the kitchen with own bathroom to share with another couple/family. Great coffee shop and beach spot to get ice cream! Very relaxing!

Cosy stay in a beautiful region

Mutchmor House was a great home base for exploring Manitoulin Island.

Lovely home and wonderful location

Very nice house only steps from the beach on a quiet lane/street. Lots of windows to let the breezes in. Listing is very accurate.
