The loft apartment above the International Owl Center was beautiful, spacious, well furnished and very comfortable.Just 3 blocks from the start point of the Root River bike trail, and a short scenic drive away from a variety of outdoor recreation activities and dining options. We had a lovely weekend stay, and were very well supported by the owner. I highly recommend this place for a relaxing or invigorating stay!

Rick met us at the property. He showed us where we could keep our bikes and told us about some of the businesses in town. He gave us his phone number in case we needed anything. He was very pleasant.

Thank you Richard for such a beautiful property. We felt comfortable in the home with plenty of space. There are 2 bedrooms each with their own bathroom. All of the furnishings were very comfortable. Plenty of blankets and pillows. Communication between Richard and I was prompt and clearly displayed.

Host was very attentive and available if needed but everything was perfect. The woodwork is amazing and grand piano sounded like you were in a concert hall. We absolutely loved our stay and hope to make it back since it is such a beautiful area.

This place is wonderful! A huge and absolutely beautiful apartment. Like new, beautifully renovated last year. The host, Rick was so nice and very helpful. Could not have been happier and I would 50”% recommend! There is a lot going on in and around this small town. Also Baristas Coffee shop down the street.

This rental is a total gem. Rick met us right at the property to show us around. It’s located in a small, walkable city where everything—a grocery store, pizza place, bar/grill, and a coffee shop with great sandwiches—is all within a block or two.The space itself is grand and fully stocked with every amenity. We appreciated the quiet nights - Since it's above the Owl Center, you might hear a "woot" or two during the day, but at night the owls stay elsewhere off the property. Spacious, convenient, and grand space. Can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful woodwork and piano, kitchen was perfect, bedrooms felt luxurious. We were there for a long weekend, but the space would be ideal for entertaining for a holiday. Owl center below the rental has fantastic programming, and the Root River bike trail was a block away. Definitely recommend!

This stay was everything I hoped for and more. The property was exactly as described - beautifully modern, spacious, and filled with warm touches that made it feel instantly comfortable. The exposed‑beam kitchen and living area were stunning, and the views from the windows made the whole place feel open and peaceful.The hosts are exceptional. One of them was actually my former principal, and he met me at the property to make sure everything went smoothly. That personal care meant a lot and set the tone for a truly seamless stay.I left feeling refreshed, welcomed, and grateful. I’d stay here again without hesitation.

Root River Trail Ride

This property is amazing and even bigger than it looks in the pictures. Very comfortable and quiet. Rick was very helpful and showed us a few things when we arrived. It was a couple of blocks from the trail head to the Root River Trail which was beautiful! It was perfect for 2 couples. We will definitely stay again! Thank you Rick!

Just stayed at this gorgeous rental The owners went above and beyond what you you usually get with these rentals. Nice touches like providing bottled waters,snacks coffee etc. The place was full of high end furnishings and appliances. Quality bedding, furniture and linens. Owner met us and showed us how to run everything along with a quick tour. Location was excellent for our needs Will definitely be back

Your secret Owl Hideout!

This is the classiest apartment in Houston County. It felt like I was some kind of Bruce Wayne with a secret hideout right above Owl headquarters. Hosts are incredibly accommodating and it is an easy stay for the International Owl Center!

Beautifully unique!

Newly remodeled; very clean; great comfortable beds; large number of thick, soft towels; awesome view; terrific appliances; lovely decor; reasonable access to nearby attractions; located in a quiet, quaint little town with nice people. There are 23 steps in the stairway up to the loft. Doable for us though if you are physically unable to tackle them, you need to know. The kind owner/manager helped us carry some of our stuff upstairs. Thanks Rick! We enjoyed our stay!

Spacious property, two bedrooms, two full baths, and an open kitchen plus living space. Piano was very cool. It was in the top floor of a historic mercantile building that was renovated so you could see the old-style craftsmanship of the building. Wide indoor stairway with sturdy railing so we had no trouble getting up to the apartment. Coffee maker/K-cup combo machine was very nice. In-fridge water and ice. It is located above the current location of the International Owl Center. There will be a small sound of an owl hooting from time to time during the day. This was a plus for my wife and myself. We were there to visit the Owl Center so the location was wonderful. The owls leave for their home aviaries when the center closes at 4 so no worries about even the small noise after 4. The center is open over the weekend days and Monday. Host was very friendly and flexible. We needed to check out a little later that the listed noon time due to a 2 pm owl seminar we wanted to attend. It was no problem at all with the helpful communication of the host. Near to the very homey bar and restaurant serving American classics across the street. Bar has a take-away beer and wine selection. Very nice pizza and ice cream place a block away. Coffee shop nearby as well, plus a very welcoming grocery store next to the bar. All these options for food and supplies are small town affordable. Veterans Memorial park nearby with a neat tank. Recommend this property!

Beautiful Loft in the heart of Houston

I had the most incredible week at the Houston VRBO Loft. Since my visit was during Christmas, they decorated a gorgeous Christmas tree for my stay. They thought of all the little details, from coffee, fruit, beverages in the fridge, shampoo, decorations, board games, and music on the TV when I arrived- to ensure my stay was comfortable. The loft has beautiful wood floors, vaulted ceilings with gorgeous exposed beams, French doors to the bedrooms, granite countertops, comfy leather couches and chairs, lovely lamps and sconces lining the hallway, and a great view of the city. As a pianist, it was a dream to play the baby grand piano. It was the perfect holiday stay. This will be my go-to place to stay when I visit Houston for years to come. It is the perfect addition to the town and a remarkable transformation from a landmark old brick-building department store. A few specifics:-cleanliness: The loft was immaculately clean.-Location: It is right in the heart of Houston, within walking distance of everything.-Amenities: The bathroom had all the essentials. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, pots and pans, a Keurig, etc.-Host communication: The host was very responsive and made sure I had everything I needed.-Comfort: The beds and the space were very comfortable.
