Beautiful and unique property on the San Marcos River. Great get away!

This site is one of the most beautiful and unique properties available for rent on the San Marcos River. The 550 ft of Frontage has a high bank for fishing and low bank for easy access. The land is a lush pecan bottom with an assortment of trees including a giant cottonwood. Approximately 3 acres that give my guest their own private park. Property is a nature lovers paradise. Abundant bird population, great for the dedicated bird watchers. Wildlife is always an adventure.
Most magical is sitting on the deck under the stars and moon with a cool drink. The place to find the peace
you are seeking. The screened in porch offers a perfect sitting for viewing the property.
Cabin has a loft bedroom that is nicely decorated and very cozy. Plenty of space to stretch out.
The river for swimming, floating, canoeing, kayaking and fishing. Our bank is in It’s natural state, for a true river experience. 2 Dogs are allowed, why should humans have all the fun.

Great retreat on the river

Beautiful…

This cabin was just perfect. The property is absolutely beautiful, communication was so easy. My only regret is that we didn’t get to stay longer….would love to come back!!

Beautiful and Quiet!

Where to begin....upon arrival we were greeted by three of the happiest, friendliest horses we have ever encountered. The River House was very clean and charming. Definitely enjoyed the cottage feel. We spent 4 days mountain biking, kite flying, fishing on the San Marcos River and visiting the local winery. (3 Dudes ) Oh yeah, I ALSO PROPOSED TO MY BEAUTIFUL GIRLFRIEND!!!! All and all we were very impressed with the private setting, the beauty and the charm of the area. On a side note, The owner Leslie helped make this a very memorable stay for us and even brought us down a very nice Pinot Noir to help us celebrate . ( my girlfriend said yes.... ) We will be returning often. :-)

Magical Property on the River

I cannot express enough how much we enjoyed our 2 days on this property. The river is gorgeous and calm with just enough flow, during our stay mid July 2020. The property is beautiful with lots of trees and shade. There are some nice touches that make it very relaxing and convenient. For instance, if you find yourself staying in the river later than planned one evening and were planning to grill, fear not! There is a overhead light in the trees, hanging right over the grill! The home is charming with lots of windows, comfortable bed and everything you could need in the kitchen. The host, Linda, is wonderful. She is attentive without crowding. She was available when needed and went above and beyond to provide us with a wonderful weekend. Thanks so much, Linda!

Exactly as described, you won't be disappointed!

Highly recommend if you are looking for a quite out of the way location that is well kept, clean and has everything (and I do mean everything) you need to feel at home! The outlet mall is 20min tops from the cabin. The San Marcos river is literally less then a min walk from the front door of the cabin. The water is easy access for fishing/canoeing. We have stayed at many cabin rentals/bed & breakfast, but this is one we will return to. Ms. Linda goes out of her way to make sure you have what you want/need and you are well taken care of. The pictures here are true to the property, but honestly they don't do justice to some of the views. Although the deck is where we spent most of our time, the screened in porch was also a big treat. Our whole experience was amazing. You will not be disappointed with this!

My partner and I spent our anniversary here and it was the best weekend getaway. The pictures of this property do not do any justice, as this place is absolutely beautiful. Did a little fishing in the morning and spent time outside playing with our dog. Seen a few wasps but took care of them with a can of raid i found in the sun room area. Speaking of the sunroom area, there is a few rocking chairs and a nice table in the back that my partner and I played cribbage at. Very relaxing and peaceful.The inside is nice and cozy as you are greeted by a "Howdy" sign once you walk into the cabin. Plenty of places to sit. A/C works great and so does the little heater in the room upstairs. There is a giant tree that is very prominent when you scan the property that we took pictures in front of. Also, Linda (the property owner) was very friendly and very professional. Overall, this was one of the best weekends I've ever had. I will be coming back again.

Absolutely Wonderful! 10/10 stars

This quaint cabin getaway was just what we needed. It was very cozy with beautiful landscaping right on the river. We brought our two pups along and they couldn't have been happier. They had plenty of running around room and got to meet some very nice horses. The bed was comfy, window A.C units both up and down stairs worked great, plenty of linens, towels, and cooking ware. We grilled every night using either the large grill by the picnic tables or the small grill on the porch. Easy access to the water for some late afternoon kayaking when it was cooler. We were afraid the weather was going to be iffy after the immense amount of rain the week prior, but it was perfect! The enclosed porch with comfortable rocking chairs was great for enjoying morning coffee. We brought our hammock along and were pleased that there was already a place to set it up among the trees by the picnic tables. Absolutely no complaints! Linda was fantastic and gave us our space. It was great to meet her on day two when our bigger pup(aussie/husky mix) broke free and decided she wanted to run with the horses. Linda came down with her truck to see if we needed help wrangling her, introduced herself and we had a nice chat. Thank you Linda for everything! The week went by way too quickly, it was extremely difficult to pack up and leave.

Was a little disappointed since the description said riverfront property with easy access to the river. We were thinking it would be aling the floating trail.House was old, but cozy. Enjoyed the place and quiet.I'd suggest a better online description. Ants were bad in kitchen. Toilet had issues flushing sometimes. Hard to find light switches and tv screen is way too small!The owner was very nice tho amd quickly responded to all my questions.

Beautiful river property

Our stay this June was the fourth or fifth time at the property so that will say alot about how much we like the place. It's always clean, cool and comfortable. The river is always shady and quiet. If I could make one improvement, it would be to inprove the river access. We probably would have used the river more if there weren't so many rocks and tree branches. That won't stop me from giving it a 5 star overall rating. Thanks Linda and Roy!

Just what we were looking for!

This was the perfect cabin for our small family of 3 to enjoy the river over a long weekend. A ton of shaded, open land right on the river to swim, float, fish, and relax. Our suburban city dogs welcomed the opportunity to race and run and our 2 yr old had the best time exploring nature! Highly recommend this cabin if you’re looking for a more secluded getaway right on the river.

Staples-Martindale

Linda’s cabin on the river is a true oasis on the shores of the San Marcos river. From nightly visits from the millions of fireflies (seasonal treat) to serenades from countless birds, the place is full of natural wonders. On a short walk you can visit the horses and stroll the bridge over the river, and there is a great breakfast taco truck at the entrance of Martindale. This was my second visit to the cabin and I will be back as soon as I can! Thank you, Linda!

Peaceful spot on the river!

The cabin was spacious and well appointed. The screened porch and deck were relaxing with ample seating. The trees and river front were peaceful and private. We will return!

Peaceful, serene waterfront on the San Marcos River

The weekend was spent relaxing in tubes in the beautiful San Marcos River. There were a few people in kayaks and canoes but not too many. The water was deep and great for swimming. We tied the tubes off to a tree and floated. The picnic table under the beautiful trees made for a perfect picnic on the water. The cabin was well stocked and clean. We truly enjoyed the stay!

Weekend getaway

We stayed for a long weekend on our anniversary. We brought kayaks, SUP’s and did some fishing. Place was very beautiful and peaceful, this part of river rarely had anyone on it. We enjoyed the peace and quite and would highly recommend this for a relaxing getaway

Excellent stay

Pics don't do this place justice! The cabin and property are beautiful. This place was a perfect home base for exploring nearby areas, but I would have been happy just sitting by the river or on the deck each day. The setting is peaceful and truly a nature lovers paradise. The host Linda is very kind and provided great communication. Would recommend this property to others and hope to stay again in the future. Thank you!

Nature Lovers' Paradise

Linda was a fabulous and thoughtful host. The house was very well-equipped, even the kitchen. The location is the absolute best part of the experience. When you enter the property's gate you may be greeted by three of the coolest horses, luckily I had some carrots and apples in my cooler! I made a last-minute booking to escape the spring break chaos of Galveston. Home's setup and internet made working a few hours a day a breeze. The birds were lovely companions - a cardinal came to the edge of the screened in porch every day I was there. The river's peaceful current made for a great break from work and sitting on its banks at sunset was magical. The home is very private, with huge oaks and pecan trees everywhere, but manicured nicely to allow full exploration of the beautiful property. I even booked an extra night because I wasn't ready to leave yet. Had great day trips to San Marcos, Meadows Center for a glass-bottom boat ride, hit the outlets, met a friend in New Braunfels and loved going into Lockhart for some Old Pals treats and eats - great food and always playing great authentic music. Thanks again, Linda!

Much Needed!

My husband and I loved the location. We have been to many cabins but this one is by far the most homey and peaceful one. The online pictures do not give the property justice, it is so much more beautiful and serene than the pictures. Even though it was cold and rained while we were there is was very relaxing and the perfect getaway. We will be back! :)

Peaceful and relaxing

Property was beautiful and river was so relaxing. My grandchildren visited us and loved it. Our dogs we're so entertained by the wildlife. My husband and I enjoyed being together in the country.

Lovely

The cabin is right on the river and the nature was breathtaking! I brought my two pups and they played in the wide open spaces. I spent so much time on the deck or by the river…even with the heat it’s so shaded and beautiful. The cabin has all the necessities but the hornets were an issue, I alerted the owner to the issue. He came an patched a hole in the screen and gave me hornet spray. The hornets continued to somehow get into the screen porch so entering exiting the main door was tough. A hornet was inside as well as some spiders so I didn’t sleep too well. The property was lovely and I know bugs are country critters. After a sleepless night, I left early and came home a day early. I would go back but maybe after the hornet issue was resolved. It’s a really beautiful spot but I’m just not a fan of hornets swarming the door.

Consistency

Having stayed at the river cabin several times now I can say that it is consistently clean, well stocked, and comfortable unlike other properties that can be hit and miss. This time I even noticed several improvements, a new bbq grill, picnic tables, fresh paint on the outside. The grass was freshly mowed and a lot of tree trimming was done which made the place even more attractive. The owners were friendly and accommodating as usually. We'll be back!
