About this space
Bordered on the north by Slippery Rock Creek and the west by Glade Run, this 25 Acre forest is for nature lovers. Canoe and Kayaks available. We are a few miles from Jennings Nature Reserve, Moraine State Park, the idilic town of Slippery Rock, Pa. and Slippery Rock University. There is 5 miles plus of navigable waterway that can be accessed from our deck and dock down by "the Creek". Hike our 1 1/2 miles of trails on our private preserve. All from the comfort of this amazing 1st floor apartment
The space
This large "Barndominium" is easily accessed from Rt. 79 or Rt. 80 utilizing Rt. 8. Forest and Creeks abound but with all comforts of home.
Guest access
Our first floor guests have access to the trails, the kayaks, and our canoe. But remember - safety first always...

Beautiful property close to Lake Arthur and a lot places close by for supplies/ food host was amazing and went the extra mile with extra perks and very fast to respond to messages very accommodating 5 stars all the way

Great property, nice trail and clean area. Some attractions close by, Grove city mall, lake Arthur etc. Host was easy to communicate with.

This place was great for us. Everything was clean and ready for us upon arrival. It was close to the main road but you felt like you were in the middle of the woods. Thank you Larry!!

Larry was great with communication. Property was cozy and well-stocked with essentials. We enjoyed using the fire pit and grill, walking on the trails, and kayaking. A nice weekend retreat!

Bathtub needs replaced it’s very bad, kitchen and kitchen sink are the tiniest I’ve ever saw.No stove and the hot plates did not work. There’s no way you could cook for a family there’s no room and nothing to cook on.We didn’t get to use the canoes no fault of the owner . Creeks were to high and muddy.Very noisy sitting at fire from the traffic on route 8

Yes, its a small Galley kitchen, with a convection oven, microwave, coffee maker and coffee, ... we supply all disposable plates and utensils... bar sink for rinsing, etc. You are on a trip or vacation ... why cook ? ... and of course you can grill outside. Great restaurants in Slippery Rock ... we list the kitchen for what it is.

We had such a wonderful stay! We loved the nature views, hiking trails, and nearby water. The house was cozy and perfect for our group. A perfect getaway! Super close to fun stuff to do in Slippery Rock. We took the short trip to Keystone Safari, which was a huge hit. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming; they had the property ready for us, more than we could've expected.

We enjoyed the fire ring and grill. The house was cold. The water smelled of sulphur. There was garbage in the kitchen and bath when we arrived. The proximity to the activities that we did was good. The house served our purpose for the two days we were there. The host communicated promptly when we messaged him.

Thanks Pam ... thats the first time the hot water had an odor. I discovered it right before your visit and called our vendor immediately. The remedy is with the hot water tank. We keep the building at 68 degrees and supplement with baseboard heaters to the guests desire. First complaint even after a record harsh winter.... hmmmmnnn ... thanks for leaving all in good shape ... oh ... few things left in garbage were mine from supply wrappers etc.

We loved this property! We enjoy the woods and found the home to be very cozy and comfortable. I also enjoyed the walking trails. Our only regret is not being able to spend more time to enjoy it. If we return to butler, we will definitely be seeing if this space is available again! The host is also very responsive!

Larry was a wonderful attentive host. Quick clear communication. Wonderful place to bring your fur family members. Nice trails for them to burn off some pent up travel energy. Great hiking nearby and plenty of small town charm in the area as well to explore. Or just be intown for a college visit or two…. ;)

My family had a wonderful time at this property. It is spacious and check-in/check-out was a breeze. Really, I have never stayed at a property with a more friendly check-out. At least several acres of woodland with trails are attached to the residence, which is a nice three-bedroom apartment in a converted barn. I walked my dog there every morning on the trails (yes, it is dog-friendly). I was visiting over Christmas, so I could not use any of the boats provided for guests to take out onto the river, because the river was frozen. I would like to return in warmer weather so I can enjoy the water.

We got there in the dark, which was a little “scary” at first, not being used to the woods- but the directions given to us were spot on and made it easy to navigate. The space was large enough for us and we were able to spread out. There is no stove to cook- but a decent size refrigerator and air fryer. It could have been cleaner- but wasn’t awful. There were several bugs, which I think is just a Pennsylvania thing. We hiked down to the dock one evening and it was beautiful- would come back and stay just to utilize the canoes!! Great trip/location/stay over all!

The owner is very attentive and communication was excellent. Once you know where the driveway is, it is fine, but definitely sneaks up on you while driving. The land is beautiful and the 25 acres is walkable, relaxing and serene. The lower apartment was great for our stay. It could use quite a bit of vacuuming and dusting but overall felt clean. 2 of the bedrooms had comfortable beds, but the 3rd one had a squeeky fan and uncomfortable bed. The upstairs tenant was friendly, but a night owl and you could hear her walking around all night, and smelled her smoking outside. Having a dog run and being pet friendly is a huge sell for me. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and would definitely stay again.

Not clean/mice but nice owner

Larry was attentive but the unit was very dirty when we arrived. Dirty floor, dirty bathroom (I will spare you the details), dusty and stained carpets. We heard animals in the wall the first night so we did not sleep in one of the rooms. I texted Larry in the morning and he came while we were out to look at it and "clean" the bathroom. Unfortunately, when we got back that evening we saw a mouse and felt so uncomfortable that we packed up and drove home. It was a real disappointment.

If they saw a mouse, it was outside. There was a hair found - it was mine. I disagree strongly with the assessment that the unit was dirty. It is not "new" construction ... built in '86. The carpet was newly cleaned before this client. Host have to realize some folks will never be pleased even in a 5 star resort:)

We had a great two night stay in the barndominium. It’s set in the woods but not far from conveniences or attractions.The property is pet friendly and our dog was welcomed. It was well stocked with many necessities. A small charcoal grill was provided, as well as charcoal and firewood for the fire pit. The wooden swing by the fire pit is broken unfortunately but there’s plenty of other seating and a picnic table.We didn’t have a chance to use the kayaks or canoe, but it was nice to have them available for us. The bathroom could use more wash cloths (more towels and a hair dryer were in the armoire) and a bath mat that doesn’t slip.The kitchen was well stocked but I didn’t see metal forks or spoons (plastic was provided) and more knives/steak knives would be nice, but there were some and pretty much everything else you could need is there.I didn’t notice a thermostat. However, the temperature was comfortable for our stay.There is an electric fireplace in the living room and ceiling fans throughout the space. There is an upstairs rental unit above the barndominium. It wasn’t occupied during our stay though.The owner is very nice and answered all my questions ahead of time. He also gave lots of recommendations for area attractions.The regatta at Moraine State Park was great and Keystone Safari was a hit with the kids!Overall, this is a great rental and we’d definitely stay here again! Thank you!

Fantastic host. Lots of thoughtful things, flashlight, pen, paper plates, bottled water, the little things that help.Facility laid out perfectly with large common area and all rooms leading off. Cozy not cramped. Thoughtfully decorated with interesting art work.

My main problems were that the host said there would be no one staying upstairs while we were there and then right after we checked in he sent me a text saying his daughter would be staying upstairs for the weekend.I felt we needed to be quite because she was up there. Also there were security cameras outside watching and listening to everything we say and do.I don't blame anyone from having cameras at a rental but it should say so in the listing.

The cameras are for property security because I don't live there ... I view them when no one is booked ... mostly see deer, turkey, and fox ... but obviously they allow me to view the property and keep it secure from a distance ... and yes MY DAUGHTER needed temporary shelter. The thought of needing to be extra quiet was never requested nor expected. Guest are using the first floor and have access to the full 25 acres.
