We very much enjoyed our short stay here. The place was very peaceful and the layout was perfect for our family. The hosts made check in and check out very easy which only added to our relaxation.

We loved The Wooded Retreat for our Christmas vacation! It was so cozy and comfortable and had everything we needed. Melanie was such a gracious host with wonderful communication.

The Wooded Retreat was a beautiful house. It had everything you could think of to make our stay comfortable and relaxing.
We loved spending our evenings around the fire pit making smores!
Able to sit around and stream the Pacers game on the large TV!

The house was very clean and set up so well! We were very comfortable. The host was very responsive with any question I had. The location is perfect—easy access to Michigan City, LaPorte, and New Buffalo. We would definitely stay here again. The host has the house decorated so cute! She has a great eye for color and the couches are so comfy! We enjoyed our stay very much.

We loved staying at the wooded retreat for a family getaway! Such a cute area and great property. It was roomy and very well decorated and kitchen was well stocked with modern appliances. You can tell the owners take comfort seriously! We were impressed with the beach gear provided, but a bit disappointed with how far the beach was especially since there was no where to park if you drive. We had a few older family members and they struggled with the gravel driveway and low furniture. AC in each room was wonderful but we definitely missed blinds in some rooms. We were around the fire and the upstairs folks had difficulty changing clothes with the lack of privacy. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. I think that this property could really go above and beyond with just a few tweaks!

The house was clean and well stocked. We were staying 1 month but there were no rods in the closet to hang our clothes. There was a small wooden hanging shelf so we managed. Also there are big picture windows in the bedrooms looking out at the woods, however there were no window treatments for privacy/or darkness. Also the outdoor area could use some sprucing up. The other negative is the trains and road noise are quite loud.

We have been doing sibling weekend getaways for several years now and this was the nicest location we've been to! Clean, airy, woodsy, comfy, well equipped with everything we needed, close to stores, restaurants and a public beach. It was great! We were impressed and enjoyed our time away!

We had a wonderful book club, girls weekend in this beautiful house. Loved the quality furnishings, elegant decorations, and all the sweet little touches, such as plenty of coffee, cooking essentials, Epsom salts, robes, and plush towels. The views from the windows were exquisite, too. Highly recommend this place!

Lovely property for a family get-together. Well stocked with amenities, including beach gear (chairs, beach umbrella, and cart to get it all to the beach. Enjoyed the outdoor area around the fire pit, and the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. It is a fair walk to the beach, so we would drive to drop off gear and people and then park back at the house, and ride our bikes to the beach. Hosts were very responsive. Perfect stay for our needs.

Love!

We had a great stay! The check in/check out process were easy. The house was super clean and nice. The host was very quick to communicate when I reached out about the overgrown weeds around the picnic table and firepit, so unfortunately we didn’t use the backyard, but that’s my only complaint. The house is a quick drive to New Buffalo and Indiana Dunes National Park, which was nice!

A Wooded Retreat!

I had a wonderful experience at "Wooded Retreat." This cozy getaway in the woods was just perfect for what I was looking for. The house was clean and well-equipped with everything I needed for my stay. The property manager was fantastic to work with; she made the entire process smooth and was incredibly helpful throughout. I highly recommend this retreat for anyone looking to escape into nature!

Spacious Retreat

First, my communications with Melanie were the best I have every experienced while renting places to stay. Secondly, the home is set in a wooded quiet location, and looks brand new! The design is very spacious and comfortable. You will also enjoy the outdoor setting and wildlife. I will most definitely seek to rent here again when staying in the area. Thank you!

We enjoyed our stay, the house was comfortable and well stocked. It was a pleasant surprise to see that there was extra supplies if needed. Definitely need eye masks as not all the windows has curtains which is clearly stated in the house details. Melanie communicated in a timely manner each time I reached out to her. The kitchen was small for my preference but it worked out just fine for a long weekend.

Perfect Place for a Cozy Weekend!

A Wooded Retreat - Michigan City was the perfect location for our Cozychella (aka girls’ weekend)! Melanie was a fantastic host—she was quick to respond to all of my questions and gave amazing recommendations for local restaurants and things to do in the area. The house itself was absolutely perfect for our girls weekend. It was spotless, beautifully decorated, and gave us plenty of space to relax both indoors and outdoors.The location couldn’t have been better—there were great restaurants nearby, and we loved being close to the lake. We took a lovely walk and even got to see the lighthouse, which was a highlight.Everything about our stay was perfect, and we would definitely come back. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing weekend getaway!

Beautiful Quality Property

I’ve stayed at a lot of short term rentals and I find that lots have beautiful photos but when you get there the actual quality of the furniture and property is subpar. This stay defied that expectation and more! The quality of the property matches and even exceeds the photos. The furniture was comfortable and functional and the kitchen was stocked and organized. I stayed with 5 other adults and an infant and everyone had ample space and slept wonderfully. We even enjoyed a bonfire on our last night in the backyard. And only 10 minutes from downtown Michigan City. I would absolutely stay again!

Weekend of Tranquility

We spent the weekend at the Wooded Retreat, and I wasn’t in any rush to leave! This beautiful, modern home had everything we could possibly need for a relaxing getaway. The description is spot on about the couches—once you sit down, you won’t want to move! It was the perfect place to unwind, chat, and play games while enjoying the stunning views from the spectacular windows overlooking the serene wooded property.Melanie and Marcel have created a space where time slows down—no rushing, no stress, just pure relaxation. My children absolutely loved exploring the outdoors, running through the woods, and embracing the freedom of nature, just as kids should.Beyond the beauty of the home, the owners’ thoughtfulness and attention to detail made the experience even more special. Their kindness and care ensure that every guest feels welcome. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape from the chaos of everyday life, this is the perfect place. We can’t wait to return!
