Grade II listed cottage at 3a High Street in the lovely Ruswarp Village. 2 Bedrooms, sleeps 4. Bathroom with shower cubicle. Dogs welcome but please don’t allow on the beds or furniture. Private Enclosed Rear Garden. Full gas fired central heating, Electric coal effect fire. Electric cooker & hob, microwave, fridge with ice box, washing machine, colour flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD/CD player, TV with Freeview in both bedrooms. Travel cot available but please provide your own bedding. Bed linen inc in rent. Hand towels and Tea towels provided but please bring your own bath towels. Steps to the garden so not really suitable for the disabled.Enclosed rear garden area with patio, garden furniture & BBQ. On street unallocated parking. UPDATE WE NOW HAVE FREE WIFI!
Please note we are on the main road through Ruswarp so some road noise should be expected at busy periods. Regular convenient bus service to Whitby, Goathland (Heartbeat 'Aidensfield') etc. Well behaved dogs welcome. Sorry, no smoking. There are 2 shops, a General Store and Butchers shop which sells a wide selection of meat (cooked and uncooked), cheeses, bread, pies, cakes & hot sandwiches and has a lovely deli counter, both a short stroll away. The local pub is just down the road. The NYM steam trains, run passed the village station, excellent! Ruswarp also has a kids indoor play centre - Little Monsterz,.Ice Cream, Food, Soft drinks, Tea, Coffee, Animals, etc. The neighbouring village of Sleights has a Spar shop which is open from 7am-10pm every day. Sleights is just over the bridge and just up the road is the Spar on the left hand side.
Note: This owner collects a £50 refundable Good Housekeeping Bond.

Accommodation was great for us, the only downside was the parking but other than that everything was . Maybe a few more towels but not a problem

The property is in a great location in the beautiful village of Ruswarp. We enjoyed the quiet of the location compared to the hustle and bustle of Whitby, and having the option to get a two minute train into Whitby, walk down the Esk river to the harbour or taking the woodland path.The cottage is lovely, it had everything we needed and we had good communication from Laura throughout. There is a great butchers less than a minute down the road and local amenities.

Ruswarp Cottage

Great place to stay. Fabulous village location. Deceptively spacious property that was clean and had everything we needed. Hosts very quick to respond to queries. Would definitely recommend!

The garden was in need of maintenance, it was difficult to access because of an overgrown holly bush all the way up the path. The hob was very rusty and didn’t get hot enough to cook on. We didn’t find a dryer, just the washing machine. The property just needed some TLC, it was in a lovely friendly village, the parking was difficult but that’s something that can’t be solved.

Hi We are sorry about the problems you have encountered. The gardener has usually been to do any gardening including a severe cut back of the holly bush but it has been delayed due to bad weather. As far as the hob is concerned we have never had any problem with it with the instructions provided. There isn’t a dryer but there is a clothes airer in the bathroom. Kind regards

No internet and given the age of the connection box I suspect it hasnt been running for a long time. Host expected us to stay in to let the internet people come fix it.No parking nearby, tv was broken and from the notes left around the house it looks like none of the tvs work well. No 5g anywhere in the area so if theres an emergency your toast.As for cleanliness I can honestly say ive never seen anything in such desperate need of cleaning. Make up all over the bedding. EVERYTHING was dusty with cobwebs. toenail cuttings in drawer next too bed, pubes around the toilet, hob in kitchen is rusty,dog food on kitchen floor, the rug in the living area was so thick of grime it was damp, theres barely any outdoor area and no outdoor dining area at all as pictured. I got a bite from something before we left. I dread to think what. We took photos of everything before leaving and swiftly left to avoid the plague as thats probably what you will catch staying here.

We are a little confused as to why you thought it was necessary to do this review when you have had a full refund but our response is as follows - You were made aware of the internet issues before you arrived and said it wasn’t a problem. We already had the engineer booked in to fix it which has now been sorted. You were also told the downstairs tv wasn’t working and we had someone coming to look at that the next day, all you had to do was leave a key. With regards to the cleanliness some of these things have obviously been planted by yourselves, our cleaner went back in the next day and it wasn’t how it was when she left it. Old properties do have cobwebs and the hob does needs replacing but that it easier said than done when you have back to back bookings. You asked for a refund and we sent one straight away.

Hi Kevin Thank you for your feedback. We are unsure what you mean by 'updating'? Eskmoor cottage is a Grade 2 listed building with many original features, most visitors think this is a plus point of the property and say it is excellent value for money, we haven't had any complaints about this before and have been renting the property out for over 14 years now with quite a number of repeat bookings. The cottage was homely as described. There was everything you needed in the cottage. We didn’t get to see/use the back garden because of wasps which the owner had told us about.
