Lazy Dog Lakefront Cabin - a cozy retreat on tranquil Mooselookmeguntic Lake
Welcome to the Lazy Dog Lakefront Cabin, located on pristine Mooselookmeguntic Lake! Get away from it all in a tranquil location, but with all the comforts of home. The log cabin is nestled among the trees, with a spacious deck on two sides, perfect for soaking in the peaceful surroundings, while listening to the loons call. Swim or boat from the private dock, enjoy world class fishing, or just relax and recharge. Nearby hiking and ATV trails.
20-30 min. to restaurants and attractions in and around Rangeley and Oquossoc.
40 min. to Saddleback Mountain for skiing.
2.5 hours to the Portland International Jetport
~4 hours from Boston
You'll be treated to gorgeous sunsets and, in summer, fabulous boating & swimming on crystal clear Mooselookmeguntic Lake. In fall, enjoy the spectacular foliage for which Maine is famous, and, of course, lots of winter skiing, ice skating and other winter events await you in the Town of Rangeley and at Saddleback Mountain.
- Large deck, partially covered, furnished with Adirondack chairs, picnic table and Weber gas grill
- 2 full bathrooms, one with tub & shower, one with a stand up shower
- Fast fiber internet WiFi (if there is a power outage, there will be no WiFi and cell service is spotty)
- Desk and office chair in first floor bedroom
- Full sized washer/dryer
- Each sleeping area has a ceiling fan and room darkening shades on the windows
- Fully stocked kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, blender, drip coffee maker and Keurig
- Short path to the clear, clean lake - no muck. Water shoes are highly recommended to protect toes from the rocky bottom
- Dock equipped with swim ladder and bench (typically installed between early June and mid September but varies depending on weather)
- Two kayaks, one single and one double, with a selection of paddles and lifejackets
- World class, open water fishing from April 1 - September 30th. Per State and local law, no live bait can be used. Ice fishing is not allowed on the lake.
- Personal watercraft, such as jet skis, are prohibited on the lake, making it uniquely quiet and peaceful, even during the peak summer months
- Indoor entertainment includes a 43” smart TV so you can log into your subscription services (no local channels/cable service), plus DVD player and a selection of DVDs, and collection of puzzles, board games and books for kids
- Stone fire ring near the water for campfires, a couple of folding portable camp chairs, and cornhole set
- The property is about 1-acre in size, and narrow, with neighbors located close on both sides, so in the summer you can expect to occasionally hear kids playing, and other typical sounds associated with people enjoying their yards and docks. However, we find the neighborhood is often very peaceful, even at peak times.
- Please note that the cabin is open concept. The first floor bedroom has its own door and is connected to a full bathroom. The other 2 sleeping areas are upstairs, connected by a catwalk (no doors on those sleeping areas, as you can see in the pictures). The loft with the king bed has a curtain for privacy.
- ATV and hiking trails nearby
- Less than 1/2 mile from the public boat launch. Lake water level varies dramatically during the season (high in early summer, low by late August) so please inquire ahead of time if you plan to bring your own boat to tie at the dock.
- Access to the property is via a flat, well-maintained gravel public road, about 20 minutes from the nearest paved road, but it is generally smooth in summer and fall. At times, particularly in winter and spring, expect bumps and frost heaves, as with any unpaved road. During those seasons 4-wheel drive is needed.
- About 22 minutes’ drive to the Village of Oquossoc, which has the nearest restaurants and a grocery store with lobster, sandwiches, and other items to go. About 30-35 minutes to the shops, events, and sites in and around the Town of Rangeley.
- 40 minutes to great downhill skiing and year-round events at Saddleback Ski Area
- One well behaved dog is welcome with payment of a $75 pet fee (sorry, no cats, due to allergy)
- Security - We have one outdoor camera to monitor the driveway, for safety and so that we know when the driveway needs to be plowed
- WINTER RENTALS - A contractor plows the driveway, but depending on the timing of snowstorms, guests may need to shovel a short path from their car to the front steps/door. We provide a snow shovel and ice melt. Cars can be parked very close to the front steps, so the distance is only a matter of a few feet, but being in the mountains, we can get a lot of snow at times. When it is light fluffy, shoveling is very easy, but at times it can be wet and heavy. Also please note that the primary means of access to the house is via Route 16.
Spring through fall, South Arm Rd. provides a secondary way to access the property, but it is not plowed in winter, so in winter months Route 16 is the only available route.
No parties or unregistered guests; maximum 6 persons due to septic system limitations. Please be respectful and quiet between 10pm-7am, out of respect for neighbors and others on the lake. This property is well suited for friends or families looking for a peaceful getaway!

Acerca del anfitrión
Anfitrión: Lisa Whitt

We live in the midcoast area of Maine, about an hour north of Portland. We love exploring the lakes and mountains around the cabin in all 4 seasons. It is magical in the winter, and breathtaking in summer.
Por qué eligió esta propiedad
We love that we have neighbors but it still feels like a peaceful, remote getaway. We can wake up and have coffee on the dock listening to the loons and still enjoy restaurants and events in and around Oquossoc and Rangeley within about a 30-40 minute drive.
Qué distingue a esta propiedad
The house is on a publicly maintained road, which makes it easy to get to in all seasons, and has over 100' feet of private waterfront. Even on busy summer holidays, the lake remains peaceful. We love paddling around, and have seen moose, bald eagles, and other wildlife around the area.
