Nice Clean Country Cabin --Air Conditioned-- 2 Bedroom (1King Bed -1Queen Bed) each bedroom is one step down from the Dining Room. All Linens Are Furnished, Always Clean Beds Guaranteed, 1 Small Bath (shower only), Kitchen, Dining Room, Living Room That Overlooks The Woods & A Creek (sometimes dry), The Kitchen Is Fully Equipped With A Full Size Refrigerator, 50's Style Stove, Toaster Oven, Dishwasher, Microwave, Toaster, Coffee Pot, Blender etc. The Living Room Has A Sofa, 2 New Lazy Boy Recliners, A 32" High Definition Flat Panel TV, DVD & VCR Player, (Dish Network America's Top 120). There is NO INTERNET SIGNAL at the Cabin. You can pick up the signal at the top of the hill in the drive way. There Is A Full Size Washer and Dryer, Covered Deck With A Gas Grill, A Pond To Fish In, Outdoor Fire Pit By The Swing. Located Between 2 Public Hunting Areas, Secluded, Very Nice Peaceful Setting In The Woods.

Excellent stay!

Cabin is exactly as described, and very clean and comfortable. Nice quiet location away from everything but close enough to Bloomfield and Ottumnwa. Will stay there again, highly recommend!

Like a treehouse in the woods

We absolutely fell in love with the cabin and our hostess, Carol! Staying here was like traveling back in time and allowed us to fully relax and reconnect with each other and with nature. Such fun fishing in the pond, relaxing on the porch, and cooking in an incredibly well-stocked kitchen. The beds could not have been more comfortable. Without question, The Cabin in the Woods is our new favorite place to stay while visiting Bloomfield. 5 stars+!

Quiet and relaxing

We enjoyed our stay here. The covered deck surrounded by woods was so peaceful. Firepit area was perfect except dusk to dawn light made it a bit too bright for star gazing. House was clean and comfortable.

Getaway with grandkids

Long weekend with our grandsons. Property was as advertised. We did some fishing but only caught a turtle. Spotted several turkeys but the tiny hummingbird and nest directly out the picture window was a highlight.

Cozy Cabin in the woods

Loved this property! Perfect size for 2 couples just looking to get out of town for the holiday weekend! The owner was so easy to work with and even reached out about a pair of glasses left behind. I really appreciate that! We arrived on Friday and stayed in until Sunday eating, drinking and enjoying games and conversation. Will keep this on our list for a future relaxation retreat!

Quiet Cabin in the Woods

Nice, quiet cabin in the woods. Very clean. Reasonably spacious but not too big. A few quirks here and there but nothing major. I've only stayed in winter so can't comment on using the grounds. The cabin is plenty warm and cozy. There in no WIFI and we had very limited cell reception but it didn't really bother us.

Nice quiet cabin in the woods

If you are looking for a getaway in the woods then this is it. Has everything you need indoors and outdoors. Senic view from the porch and from the living room. Two nice sizes bedrooms, dining area for all the family. It is decorated absolutely fantastic! You have your own pond to fish in and dont be fooled it looks small but there are some big fish in there! I caught bass, crappie and blue gill. Took my grandson and had a wonderful time! The owner is / was a refreshing experience! Her customer service is top notch. I am very pleased.

Not coming back

The cabin is in a wooded area. Very quiet and private. My main concern were the numerous mouse droppings noted in the cupboards, floors and counter tops. I understand that a cabin in the woods would have an occasional mouse, but the cleaning of the cabin, if done adequately would not have that many mouse droppings. Our stay was not what we expected.

Quant little cabin in the woods.

We found this little cabin and wanted to go down in that area to fish at Lake Wapello. We picked a poor time to go down because the heat was in the 90's. So we spent a lot of time in the cabin. Were fascinated by a squirrel in the nest with head hanging out most of the time and a hummngbird buzzing around and we sighted his nest. TV came in good. U.S. Cellular phone service worked well down there. Surrounded by nature. My husband and I spent quality time down there together. Would have fished in the little pond there but to hot. A lot of nice restaurants in the area. Must go to Cantril Dutchmans Market and eat at Southfork restaurant in Bloomfield and CJ's. Family restaurant in Ottumwa. Lots to do in the area. The only withdrawel for me was I have a walker and a slope to get down to cabin but I did it. Yeah for me! Will go back again!

Quiet, cozy and restful

We were going to our home town (Ottumwa) for Christmas. All my family had full houses. For right around the cost of a hotel, we found this cabin in the woods. The giant windows look out onto a picturesque wooded valley. We watched squirrels running around while we had breakfast. I had coffee on the covered porch. We were able to stretch out, relax and get some rest. Staying in a hotel can be nerve wracking with our Autistic son. He gets stir crazy and noisy. He had space and enjoyed looking at all the knickknacks. We could hear an occasional car on the highway but not very loud at all. There is no wifi, which is the only convenience it lacks. We didn't really miss it, we talked and watched movies. It was too cold to use the outdoor space but it looked great. All told, we highly recommend the cabin.

We booked the cabin the night before our first day of RAGBRAI 2024 and our first ever RAGBRAI. It was perfect for what we needed, close to Ottumwa, but quiet.

Country Peace and Quiet

The host and property were exactly as advertised. God fearing Christians with a patch of heaven. Two days of fun in the sun, fishing, grilling and the last day, cold and sleet. Warmed up at fire pit with coffee and coco. The pond Goliaths were evasive and majestic. Best bait to lure them in …. Pieces of good ole country bread and bread ball on the hook :). We will be back!!!

Property is more than the photos reveal! Nice pond with active fish, large fire pit with plenty of wood, 2 bedrooms...beds were comfortable and decor super cute! Very reasonable price! Best vacation I've ever had! Beautiful, relaxing and super fun!

Our stay at the cabin in the woods

When we first got to the property we were surprised at the remoteness. Not unnerved, just surprised. We walked into the cabin and were so surprised to see the cutest little rural cabin we've ever seen. The best part was the west TV room. Three sides of the room are windows that face the wooded area. It was awesome. We spent most of our time there. They had dishnetwork, a DVD player AND a VCR player! We loved this place and if you like privacy you will love this place!!

Absolutely stunning cabin

The cabin is beautiful. The pictures doesn’t do it justice. I know there was previous comments about mice but we didn’t have any issues with them while we where there. The tv worked good, dishwasher worked amazing along with all the other appliances. All the necessities like towels, dish soap, and utensils are all provided. The decor was so cute gave the cabin so much character. We didn’t have any issues the hole time we stayed. The grill worked. The set up for a camp fire is nice we didn’t use it since it was hot but the AC in the cabin worked amazing. The pond was very cute. Very tucked back into the woods with plenty of privacy. The owners are just up the driveway and around the corner. 10/10 recommend this place the view out of the living room windows is amazing!

Surprise Anniversary Getaway

Surprised my wife with a 4 day getaway for our 15th wedding anniversary. We both loved it and enjoyed our time. Secluded, great scenery, very peaceful. 10/10 recommend.
