Peace & Simplicity in a Little Red Cabin on the Farm

Our sweet little red cabin at Four Bucket Farms LLC is ready for guests!  Located on the front corner of our 16 acre hobby farm in Lena, IL, this 400 sq ft cabin was built by our family with help from friends.  It has a welcoming front porch, master bedroom with queen bed, sleeping loft with two twin XL mattresses, pull-out couch, a small kitchenette and 3/4 bath.  Our farm is home to a small herd of Highland cows, chickens, cats, dogs and occasionally a flock of turkeys. We are surrounded by farmland and 1/4 mile down the dirt road from the back access of Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Park.  The cabin is also just 4 miles from the town of Lena. We welcome friendly dogs (2 dog maximum, please check the box when booking to indicate that you will be bringing pets), they must be on leash at all times and there is a $25 pet fee.
We are very proud of this project and hope you'll consider it the next time you're looking for a cozy, comfortable, peaceful place to relax in the country.

This was one of the cleanest and nicest cabins I've ever been in. Hosts were awesome! If you need a quick getaway this is your place. It had everything we needed and then some. Also beautiful grounds. We loved it!

Amazing little cabin not far from Winslow- biker friendly. Clean and everything we needed to rest before heading back on the road. Host was awesome to communicate with.

The cabin was picture perfect! Clean and quiet with an occasional morning rooster crow which just added to the farm ambiance. Host communication went smoothly. Would stay again!

I had a wonderful stay in this charming little red cabin. It was fully equipped, and I had everything I needed to feel comfortable. The place was cozy and well maintained. I highly recommend it!

Awesome location for a relaxing getaway. We took our dog and 3 kids and everyone had a great time hiking, visiting the local breweries and sitting by the campfire. It was a nice bonus to take home some delicious eggs at the roadside stand after we checked out. We hope to come back someday.

Cozy getaway from the busy downtown streets! Close to Madison, WI (our favorite), Galena, IL and so many nearby trails! Beautiful views of the sunset and warm fire pit with cute local little critters. So many windows to just enjoy the sounds of birds and nature early in the morning or throughout the day. 10/10 stay would definitely recommend coming here!

The little red cabin is so adorable-looks better inside than the photos do it justice. It was clean and secluded and the bed was very comfortable. We loved the electric fireplace inside as it made the room even cozier!

I booked this for a personal spring reading retreat and it was exactly what I wanted. The house is adorable and thoughtfully designed - I had everything I needed. The farm is so peaceful and I spent a good amount of time just sitting on the porch, listening to the birds and watching the chickens. I’m already thinking ahead to a visit in the fall.

I took my twins here for their tenth birthday for some father son time and they loved it. They wanted to move there. The cabin is very cozy and the host were wonderful. We hung out around the fire pit a lot. We went fishing at Lake Le-Aqua-Na, and just drove around in the country. My twins want to visit there again, i think booking in the Fall would be great . I highly recommend if you are looking for a chill and cozy get a way .

I was looking for a quiet, relaxing weekend away from the city and happened upon The Little Red Cabin. Just 2 hours outside of Milwaukee, it was the perfect little retreat on a beautiful hobby farm. The space was perfect for me and my dog, and had all the necessary amenities. As a solo traveler, I felt safe and comfortable. The property is lovely and you can stroll through the little orchard and watch their highland cows and chickens graze. This is an operational farm, so you’ll hear folks at work. The cabin has its own space on the land, so I was able to happily read with a bonfire outside without being bothered by the nearby noise, but if you’re looking for something totally quiet, you may want to look for something more remote. Again, as a woman traveling alone, I appreciated that the hosts were around. They were even kind enough to coax the cows to the fence with some treats when they saw me watching. I loved my stay and definitely hope to come back for a future stay.

We moved our family from the Chicago suburbs to the small town of Lena in fall 2020. Since then, we’ve added animals to the hobby farm, expanded the garden and completed this small cabin so that family, friends and guests can also enjoy this quiet corner of the world.

One look down the tree-lined drive and we fell in love with the property. It also has rolling hills, tons of mature trees, beautiful views and it’s on a quiet, gravel road.

The little red cabin sits in the southwest corner of our working hobby farm that has Highland cows, turkeys, chickens, our cats and dogs. We are also 1/4 mile down the gravel road from a gorgeous state park.
