Sailor's Valentine: Bayfront Home on Private Beach and Hot Tub!
Sailor's Valentine Beach House!
On a quiet side road, in the charming fishing village of Tenants Harbor, this picturesque oceanfront home with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and hot tub; is perfect for your group of six! Sailor's Valentine Beach House, and its grand windows near the shore, create a sense of the spectacular in this beautifully appointed vacation home. Upon arrival, you will note the lovely gardens and well-manicured grounds. When you step out the back door you are only a few steps and a short grassy walk down to your private beach. A 1-car garage is available as well as exterior parking for 3 cars maximum.
Entering the home, you will note the maple flooring and how the ocean-facing windows brighten the open-concept living and dining areas with the sun. If you plan to stay in for the evening on a chilly night there is a propane insert fireplace, a 60" flat-screen television, and a comfortable selection of quality furniture from New England's finest artists and craftsmen. You will find no shortage of comfort and high quality at this vacation home. In this space, you will also enjoy the large dining room table which seats 12 with an expansive view of the ocean. Off of the living room, you enter a large contemporary kitchen with new major appliances, ample counter space, an island workspace for creating culinary delights, and bar seating for five at the attached mahogany counter. The kitchen has a standard drip coffee maker, a Keurig, and an espresso machine. Directly off the kitchen is an informal breakfast area, with a cozy wood stove for four.
Off of the kitchen is a bedroom with a queen-size bed and an adjoining full bathroom. Rounding off the tour of the first floor is an oversized mudroom with ample space to store your active gear (skis, rackets, water sports, etc.) and a treadmill.
A cozy screened-in porch for rainy-day conversation sits adjacent to the deck, and for family fun, is a good assortment of inside and outside games. Moving off the deck is a large hot tub to relax in after a long day of vacation fun. The private beach shore has many flat ledge areas for sunbathing, picnicking, and viewing the working lobster boats coming in from haul, sailboats, and pleasure yachts blending in the harbor. You may kayak to the nearby islands for exploration and enjoyment with the two kayaks provided.
Returning inside, you take the stairs to the second floor, immediately noticing the Baldwin Grand concert piano that looks to the sea and may be played to entertain guests below in the architecturally soaring living room. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a full bathroom with an adjoining laundry room. The first bedroom has two twin beds. The second is the primary suite. This suite has a king-size bed, stunning panoramic views of the outer islands, a full bath featuring a comfy tub for relaxing at the end of the day, and a large shower. A leather loveseat faces a flat-screen television and a writing desk positioned perfectly for nautical inspiration.
For your convenience, we have provided initial supplies of the following: linens, bath towels, washcloths, hand towels, and beach towels. Your first tank of propane for the gas grill and fire pit, dish soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, cable, wireless internet, and a home phone are all complimentary. We make every effort to assure the accuracy of this listing, and the condition of equipment and quality of provided services. We make no implied guarantee of connectivity for wireless internet or services provided by a third party. However, we will do everything in our power to remedy any situation as quickly as possible, and we thank you for your understanding.
Area Amenities:
The Tenants Harbor General Store, is open daily, specializing in morning coffee and pastries, corn, blueberries, native lobsters, fresh-cut meats, and all grocery supplies. It is only a 10-minute walk, or bring your bike for riding the winding roads and scenic ocean and island views. This is a pleasantly old and proud Maine community with its own library, school, and fire/rescue department. Knox County Sheriff's Office provides policing services. One-third of all Maine lobsters come from this county, named for General Henry Knox, George Washington's chief artillery officer in the Revolutionary War of 1776. You can learn about him on the peninsula, as well as enjoy programs offered all seasons at Montpelier, the Knox Mansion Museum, located just another few minutes in the nearby coastal town of Thomaston.
Heading another 10 minutes down the St. George peninsula is Port Clyde, another fishing village. You will enjoy beautiful ocean views while enjoying an incredible meal on the wharf and delicious ice cream for dessert from the local ice cream shop. In the heart of Port Clyde, you will find adventure waiting for you. Whether it's visiting a local art gallery, enjoying a day on the ocean with the Wyeth by Water Lobster Boat tours, or the Monhegan Island ferry adventures to see Maine seabirds, including puffins and American bald eagles, spending the day at the local Drift-Inn beach or a picnic at Marshall Point Lighthouse; St. George has something for everyone.
Here are some things you should know about visiting Maine:
Cell phones: Although coverage is getting better, there are some places where cell phones don't have good reception. Chances are you will have service, but just in case, make sure you leave the number of the house you are renting with those who may need to get in touch with you. Coverage with AT&T can be spotty in many areas of Maine.
Weather: If you have heard it once, you've heard it a hundred times: if you don't like the weather in New England, wait a minute. It can be hot in Rockland and cool in Port Clyde so make sure to pack a variety of clothes — from a bathing suit for hot days to a sweater for cool evenings. Check out the current local weather at www.weather.com.
Bugs: A lot of people ask us if we have mosquitoes...we sure do. But they aren't huge and they don't ruin a vacation. Bring some repellent, or pick some up at the local general stores and you will be fine; usually, you won't even notice them.
Dogs: We love dogs around here, but each town has its own rules about pets. Make sure to look for signs stating if dogs are allowed and always have them on a leash. If they leave behind anything, please pick it up, it's not a fun surprise when you are exploring the beautiful shoreline. You can also be fined for not picking up after your four-legged friend.
Unwanted animals: You probably have them too, but raccoons and skunks can make you regret last night's lobster dinner. No one wants to pick up old, smelly shells that have been cast out onto the lawn by these cute, but curious and disastrously messy, little guys. So please don't put off placing the trash in the secure trashcans provided.
Water: Sailor’s Valentine Beach House is not on public water supply. It has a well, with a water filtration system, and is tested regularly once a year. Particulates, discoloration, and iron taste are not uncommon.
Sailor's Valentine Beach House is a Saturday to Saturday rental year-round! This home comfortably sleeps 6 people. The dock was damaged in a major ocean storm and has been deemed unsafe by the engineering team currently working on the design for a new wharf. While parts of it may still be visible and appear intact, it isn’t safe to use and is officially closed off. The current listing does not include the dock as an amenity. While a few of the photos do show it in the background, that wasn’t intended to suggest it’s accessible. The current pricing also reflects the dock being out of service
