The art of Slow Living- 1BHK Earth-home in West Sikkim
Welcome to Gairi Ghar by Daarapari-
a home where every corner tells a story, every wall holds warmth, and nothing is accidental. Built with bare hands and full hearts, this space is a love letter to the land, to slowness, to everything soft, simple and true.
As you enter the property, you’re greeted by a kiwi farm that leads to the front lawn; perfect for stargazing, mid-day naps, or doing absolutely nothing.
Sikuwa-
Before you even step inside, you’ll pass our "Sikuwa"- a traditional semi-outdoor seating area found in every Nepali home. It’s neither entirely inside nor out, but somewhere beautifully in-between. We’ve built a classic mud bench here, where you can sip your morning tea, chat with a friend, or simply watch the day go by.
The Kitchen-
Step inside, and you're greeted by an open, sunlit kitchen.
A skylight floods the space with natural light, and at its center sits a stone slab from our farm, which serves as a prep space and dining table.
It’s simple, intuitive, and made for slow, unhurried meals.
The Living Area -
Tucked into another corner, a cozy mud sofa invites you to sink in with a book or your thoughts. A farm-sourced coffee table and a small work desk complete the space, balancing comfort and calm with quiet productivity.
The Bedroom -
Beyond the living room, the bedroom opens into a quiet, earthen space. The bed, built from mud, holds you with a deep, grounding comfort, while a sunroof above, frames drifting clouds, monsoon rain, or starlit skies; all from the warmth of your bed.
The Secret Garden-
A backdoor from the living room opens into a wide stretch of cardamom fields, where you might just spot wild musk deer in their natural habitat (no, we’re not even kidding). We also have a small secret garden here under a huge banyan tree, perfect for afternoon lunches, or just being.
The Bathroom -
Yes! Even our bathroom deserves its own little paragraph because- IT'S A VIBE. Morning rituals here come with birdsongs, fresh air, and occasional feathery visitors- they like it here too :)
There's an indoor shower with hot water for chilly winter mornings, and a cold outdoor one for the warm summer afternoons. Either way, this will be an experience you will not forget.
Big windows let in the light and wind, and most things inside- from the benches to the door locks, have been made right here, with materials from our farm.
This home isn’t fancy, but it’s full of soul. It’s honest, gentle, and made to hold your slow mornings, messy hair, and barefoot walks.
You don’t have to do much here. Just show up. Unpack your bags (or don’t). Light a fire, cook what comforts you, sit under the stars.
