Safest, most beautiful beach, well kept beach front home for relaxing/ocean sport
"A perfect strip of clean, swimmable sea and deep-golden sand, it is still in pre-hotel mode" as written by The Guardian news paper about Maculis beach.
We have named our beach house and your perfect vacation spot Oasis because it is our “island” of tranquility, peace, solitude, and beauty.
The beach, Maculis, where the house is located is 1-mile-long expanse of volcanic sand with a natural breakwater of volcanic rock 500 yards out in the Pacific Ocean. This breakwater makes for one of the safest and calmest beaches around. With no rip tides, only small waves, and with the warm water, it is as if you were in a gigantic hot tub. When the tide is out, there are tide pools at both ends of the beach that are great places to snorkel (we provide masks and snorkels) and look at the colorful fish and fauna. If you are into more active sports, there are sit-on-top ocean kayaks to take out and paddle along the coast. If you are really adventurous, you can paddle to the beach at the far end of Maculis, Playas Blancas, and surf the waves in a kayak. If you bring your surfboard, a number of surfing beaches are close by.
If you like to fish, you can do so right off the rocks or rent a skiff (panga) with a guide and go angling for red snapper, grouper, or mahi-mahi
If you are interested in getting away from crowded beaches and tourist traps, then Maculis is the place you are looking for. You will find very few people on the beach and very little activity except for the artesian fishermen coming in early at the far end of the beach in their pangas with the catch of the day. You can buy your lunch directly from them. Red snapper, filet of sole, grouper, and lobster are just some of the catch that may be available.
The house is what is called a rancho in Spanish. It is a modern 2-story structure with 2 bedrooms and a complete bathroom upstairs. The upstairs master bedroom has a balcony with ocean views and is a great place to have breakfast or drink wine and watch the sunset. The other upstairs bedroom sleeps 4 people.
On the ground floor is another bedroom that sleeps 4 and looks out on the ocean. It comes with a complete bathroom. The rancho also has a kitchen with a serving counter looking onto an open-air social area – a large expanse under a thatched roof made of palm fronds and renewable teak saplings. This is a great area to eat, drink, play games, or simply listen to the waves. Hammocks can be strung between the teak pillars for comfortable reading, satisfying naps, and relaxing sessions on your wireless devices. There is wireless 3g Internet connection. It’s slow, but you can receive and send emails. With patience, you can also surf the web.
The house sits on almost half an acre of beach-front property. There is a house for the caretaker and his family in the back part of the property, completely separate from the main house. The property has over 80 coconut trees, and the ground is mostly covered with grass. There is a sandy area coming off the beach where kids can play inside the property.
The caretaker and his wife are on call 24 hours. They will make your beds, clean the bathrooms, clean the social area, and wash dishes. They can get you fresh coconut water from the many coconuts, find you fresh fish, and run errands. They are very friendly and helpful people who are there to serve you. They can also cook you simple meals. They aren’t Cordon Bleu chefs by any stretch of the imagination, but they can rustle up tasty local dishes.
If you want to get out and visit a coffee plantation, volcano or just go sightseeing we can help you arrange the trips with a car and English speaking guide.
It is only 1 hour and 45 minutes from the El Salvador international airport is your and our “Oasis.” We can help you get transportation if you need it.
We are confident you will enjoy our Oasis as much as we do. Please contact us if you have questions or comments.

Preguntas frecuentes
Acerca del anfitrión
Anfitrión: Phil Hand
I am an American from SF who came to El Salvador in 1975, set up a company, got married and have now retired here. We use the house a lot but also travel frequently too.
Por qué eligió esta propiedad
We fell in love with Maculis beach the first time we saw it. The broad sandy beach, the calm Pacific ocean in front of the lot, the beautiful tall coconut trees and the tranquility of the surroundings and we were sold on it.
Qué distingue a esta propiedad
We named the house “El Oasis” because it is an island of calm. The area is so peaceful and calm. The Pacific ocean is not really 'pacific' but here there is a break water 500 yds in front that keeps big waves, undercurrents away, making it a calm, safe beach for you and your family to swim on and enjoy. The swinging hammocks, afternoon breeze make for a great place to relax and enjoy yourself too.
But at the same time there are a lot of activities that are available if so inclined:
We have snorkeling gear to enjoy the pretty tide pools, kayaks to go out and paddle around in or surf on, fishing of the beach or in a panga (small fishing boats available for rent) or just going beach combing.
The onsite caretakers provide you with almost anything you need so it is like being at a resort without the crowds.
