We were staying at the schoolhouse to go hiking and ride bikes. They house has been tastefully decorated. I enjoyed the quite community and the listening to the tree frogs at night. Front Royal has a few things you can enjoy such as the movie theatre, bakery and state park. I would highly recommend this propery.

Charming, very clean, well stocked house. Great spot for visiting Front Royal, Middleburg, and the many nearby wineries. Especially enjoyed the hot tub every evening to watch fireflies and listen to frogs and other night creatures. Cell service can be spotty so save or write door access code. I did not and had to backtrack a ways to get enough signal to load VRBO app.

The listing indicated pets were welcome and we were able to bring our 13 year old dog, who loves traveling with my husband and I. There was some initial confusion after we booked the Schoolhouse, saying pets are prohibited. Through contact with the host, it was cleared up pretty quickly. All in all, the place was comfortable and we had what we needed to cook a couple of meals. I loved the area and enjoyed walking our dog on the state-maintained back roads. We would have liked to take advantage of the fire pit, but the outside area was overgrown and not especially welcoming.
