The Caboose Roost is a beautifully restored, authentic 1958 train caboose where railroad history meets boutique comfort. Located in Fredericktown, Missouri, about 90 minutes from St. Louis, this one-of-a-kind stay is an unforgettable destination for couples, families, train enthusiasts, and outdoor adventurers.
Inside, original railroad character and mini-museum details bring the caboose’s history to life. Settle into the comfortable queen bed or climb into the cupola loft—a guest favorite, especially with young conductors. The caboose sleeps up to four guests and includes a spotless private bathroom, kitchenette, Smart TV, Wi-Fi, quality bedding, robes, Bluetooth speakers, chargers, games, and thoughtful comforts throughout.

The place was clean, smelled fresh, the muffins she had were amazing. Every little detail about the place being a train cargo was perfect. The hooks for towls and toilet paper being part of the rail road. The flashing lights when coming into the property was very neat. The fire pit was perfect and she supplied the wood, lighter, and fire starter. Everything about this place was amzing. Will definitely be back. Worth the 4 hour drive.

Staying at the H&R Caboose Roost was an unforgettable experience! From the beginning, Tina was kind, friendly, communicative, and an all-around wonderful host. The place itself is so magical and charming! We had plenty of space and all the comforts we could hope for and then some: impeccably clean, charging cables in two places, muffins for our stay, yard games and indoor games, recommendations for local restaurants, filtered water in the fridge, a beautiful fire pit area in the back, and more! The attention to detail and care that has gone in restoring and preparing the caboose for guests is above and beyond. We feel so lucky we found it and got a chance to spend my birthday weekend there while we went adventuring at the nearby Elephant Rocks State Park, Johnson’s Shut-Ins, and Castor River Shut-Ins. Thank you for the lifelong memories!

After more than 32 years as a florist, I naturally bring a love of beautiful details and thoughtful presentation to hosting. I take great pride in providing an exceptionally clean, comfortable, and memorable stay where guests feel genuinely welcomed and cared for.
My hope is that every guest leaves with wonderful memories—and a caboose story they’ll enjoy telling for years to come.
After more than 32 years as a florist, I naturally bring a love of beautiful details and thoughtful presentation to hosting. I take great pride in providing an exceptionally clean, comfortable, and memorable stay where guests feel genuinely welcomed and cared for.
