Beautiful charming older home that has been renovated and updated. The house was spotless, beds were comfortable, we loved the little touches like coffee provided. Lots of good restaurant options just a short walk away. A fabulous stay for our family (including teens/young adults).

TL:DNR: Excellent experience. Great hosts. Fantastic location.Due to having a dog, we typically opt for short-term rentals when we travel. 90% of the time, you get a "house by Ikea": nothing potentially offensive, but also nothing that makes you pay much attention to the house itself. 9% of the time, you get a house with a touch of evidence of human inhabitance. This house is one of the 1%. SO COOL. It has soul. We really enjoyed staying in a place that complemented the city and neighborhood we were in. It regularly caused our eye to linger when navigating a room.Hosts were super responsive and pleasant to work with.The location is fantastic. We've been to Portland a ton over the years, but have never spent any time in the Boise neighborhood. If you're a foodie... stay here. It's one block from the dead center of Mississippi Avenue. We ate Cuban, Norwegian, Burmese, authentic Mexican, and a damn fine, straight-up pizza. All within 3 blocks MAX of the front door.Sounds like we were their first rental and there were a few rough edges - just the last items on a picklist and its pretty clear that a host that cares this much about their property will take care of those lovingly.Highly recommend.

Central air is misleading. Only the first floor has AC — the second floor (all the bedrooms) relies on fans and one weak window unit. It was too hot for our kids to sleep safely, so our whole family crammed into one bedroom for several nights. The bunk beds (one rail broken, not very sturdy so only safe for small kids) sit right under a ceiling fan, so that top bunk was completely unusable to us, since we needed the fans if using that room at all.Bugs and cleanliness: Ants in several rooms, some traced back to a large dead bug left in the bathroom. The living room was dusty enough that a stuffed animal we dropped behind the couch needed an emergency wash.Host responsiveness: We flagged these issues and got only “I hadn’t heard about ants” and “maybe we need more window units” — no actual help.Smaller issues: Checkout instructions require washing towels, but there’s no detergent provided (we used our own — hope future guests’ towels are actually getting washed). The desk shown in the primary bedroom photos wasn’t there. Strict recycling rules but no recycling bin in the house.What worked: The kitchen was great, and the living room has nice bones under the dust.

We allowed a change in the reservation and an early check in. Sorry you felt disappointed with the stay. The days of your stay were 95° plus and I’m pretty sure everyone’s AC had a hard time managing the temps. We have central AC, but to additionally boost during warm temps, we have a window unit in the primary bedroom as well as additional fans onsite for these unexpected temperatures. I’m sorry you found 1 dead bug. I will address this with my cleaners. We needed to pay an additional cleaning fee after departure.
