Villa Gatona was stunning ,perfect for me and my family to celebrate my wife’s 60th birthday . The villa exceeded our expectations it was just a beautiful space for a large group of people to stay in with plenty of room to give everyone space and privacy if needed , plenty of fridge and freezer space and all the amenities and everything in the kitchen you would need for a large group of people .We would recommend a car hire for shopping mainly and rubbish runs but, as we like to walk we did walk to the beach and into Cala D’or several times in about 20/25 minutes . We found a taxi app which was helpful one night when we ate in the marina, and it was fairly easy to get a taxi back to the villa . We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would 100% recommend this gorgeous Villa to anyone looking for a chilled relaxing holiday still within a walking distance of beaches, bars ,restaurants of Cala D’or. Thank you to Lone for all your help and always being quick to reply with any questions and queries

Wonderful Holiday

A spacious and comfortable villa in large well kept grounds. Fabulous pool which was very well maintained, and cleaned and checked regularly during our stay. Air conditioning and ceiling fans throughout ensured we could keep a comfortable temperature in the villa during a very hot spell of weather. Well equipped kitchen and barbecue facilities well used. Access to a wide range of beaches fairly close by but cars are necessary. Ideal for a big family holiday.

This house is beautiful and a perfect fit for our group. The kitchen is well equipped, the bedrooms and bathrooms are clean and sunny and spacious, the living room has a cozy fireplace which is a must in February. The property owner was so helpful and addressed all of our needs. Would definitely recommend this house to a group for an excellent experience in Mallorca.

Excellent, spacious Villa

There were 11 in our party across four generations, the Villa had enough space & facilities to accommodate all of us easily. It was clean, with plenty of out door space, with shade in many places throughout the day. Although the Villa is not far from Cala d’Or we’d suggest you hire a car. The host was nothing but helpful before & during our stay.

The House of Many RulesWe ended up booking Villa Gatona last minute after the other house we’d rented had an air conditioning issue — right in the middle of a major heat wave in Spain. Overall, the property is lovely, but be aware it comes with a lot of rules. You’ll be greeted with two binders full of them.A few things worth knowing before you book:•Trash: Garbage must be sorted into 4–5 different bins by type and driven to a drop-off location (not walkable), and it must be taken out before checkout.•AC: Air conditioning is metered and only available at certain times of day. During the heat wave, we asked for extra hours and were charged an additional fee — the owner came to collect it in person the next day, unannounced. There’s also no AC in the bathrooms, which get quite hot when it’s warm out.•Kitchen: Could use some updating, and we noticed micro ants throughout — they do bite, so be careful.•Laundry: Two washing machines but no dryer, so we ended up leaving with musty-smelling clothes.•Location: The villa itself is beautiful, but it’s very isolated — you’ll need a car to get anywhere.

Thank you for your review! There are 2 Information Booklets in the Villa, as we have the information in 3 different languages and these are certainly not house rules, but mostly suggestions for restaurants, local activities and excursions. There are also manuals for the electric devices and very useful information like a code for the WIFI and Maps. Perhaps you did not read these manuals, if you claim that they are house rules )) It is supposed to be a way to enjoy the holiday. I come to the Villa every "change-over" and there are no insects. We are being served by a pro-company to control any such matters. Sorry if you did not receive my message for passing by, this is supposed to be a good service for our Guests, for any questions they might have. Guest always tell me that this is very appreciated. We do follow the rules and suggestions from our local Government and therefore we have a climate-friendly Luxone climate-control and we also we do follow the local rules for waist. There a 3 bins for recycling in Spain and in the Villa. I believe this is very different in the US, but EU-Citizens are used to this. We did not have a local heating-wave during your stay, there was max. 32DC. It is correct that we do not have a/c units in the bathrooms, I believe no-one does... The information is in the listing. I do not understand why one would need a dryer for the clothes, as it would dry in 1-2 hrs. We have 2 washing machines these days, as 1 is a replacement machine. My close would never be musty-smelling drying outside. In Europe the population is educated to try to avoid climate changes with eco-friendly devices and other alternatives. Hopefully this would be world-wide in the future. We certainly do recommend car-hire to all of our Guests for a Villa-Holiday. I would always do my very best for our Guests to enjoy their stay with us, therefore we have many repeating Guests. Thank you, Lone , the owner

Spacious Villa

The check in/out process and communication with the host was excellent. The host messaged on the day of arrival to let us know the house was ready earlier than expected and then personally greeted us upon our arrival. The welcome basket was perfect! The house is very spacious, clean, equipped with all kitchen essentials (and beyond). The pool was a refreshing retreat from the unseasonably warm weather. Two binders are provided with detailed information regarding the house and local attractions. Located within driving distance to a variety of beaches, restaurants and marinas.

Great villa, location and owner !

We had 12 people in the villa for a week (10 adults & 2 children) it was perfect for our needs. The villa worked for us, both inside and outside space, it was easy to reach Cala D'or (5 minutes by car) but also the surrounding areas with a trip back to Palma in one hour. It is worth having a car as taxis are slightly complicated as a villa pickup location (it is easy to get back there from CalaD'or.) ROIG provides a great car hire & transfer service at reasonable rates when needed. Final positive comment relates directly to the owner who was fantastic from start to finish. Thank you for making things so easy.

Beautiful Villa - Relaxing Holiday

This is a lovely villa in a quiet rural location, but a short walk/drive from the local shops, restaurants and beaches. Everyone loved the spacious villa which had everything we needed. Pool was great and much used, especially by the kids. The host Lone was a pleasure to deal with both before and during our stay, very helpful and prompt with her replies. Not a negative, but as noted by others, and advised by Lone herself, a car is highly recommended both for shopping and recycling trips. The town is a close walk but the road is not the best for pedestrians. All in all, highly recommended. My family and our friends would happily stay again.
