Cedar Hot Tub Nature Retreat on 2 Acres near Mt Baker – Ski, Fish, MTB
Two private acres of North Cascades magic, 25 minutes from Mt Baker Ski Area, 4 minutes from the wild Nooksack River, and zero neighbors in sight. This is your launchpad to powder days, steelhead casts, world-class singletrack, and golden chanterelle hunts – then come home to a steaming cedar hot tub under a sky so dark the Milky Way feels close enough to touch.
THE CEDAR HOT TUB – YOUR NIGHTLY RITUAL
Cedar tub on the wrap-around deck, cleaned and balanced between every stay.
- Preset to 101 °F (max 104 °F – please don’t crank it)
- Silver JET button: once = low bubbles, twice = high jets, thrice = off
- Cover protocol: slide fully on + click both black buckles every time (keeps heat in, needles out, critters safe)
SLEEPS 8 – COZY MEETS PLUSH
Main cabin
- King master with comfy mattress - Queen murphy bed in the living room (available from 11/22)
- Open living/dining with a large sectional couch, wood stove that roars all night, dining table for 6
- Full kitchen: range, full-size fridge, and a Keurig with included coffee and hot chocolate for the children (or kids at heart!)
Bunkhouse (20 ft from hot tub – kids claim it instantly)
- Heated, Wi-Fi-connected mini-cabin
- Retro N64 with 2 controllers + 3 games (Super Smash Bros anyone?)
- 55” Smart TV loaded with Netflix/Prime/Disney+/YouTube (use your logins)
- Bean bag and Bunk Buds with safety straps to prevent tip-over!
- Please do not climb on loft/storage area
NATURE ON YOUR DOORSTEP
- 2 acres of Douglas fir, cedar, and sword fern – deer at dawn, elk bugling in fall, pileated woodpeckers drumming overhead
- Chanterelle jackpot: pop Sept–Nov under the firs (snap a pic, text us for 100 % ID before eating)
- Zero light pollution – step onto the deck at 10 PM for a planetarium show
WINTER – SKI-IN/SKI-OUT ACCESS
- 25 min drive to Mt Baker Ski Area (Heather Meadows lot free mid-week, $20 weekends)
- Artist Point opens July–Oct for wildflower meadows and 360° views
- Snowshoe or split-board right from the driveway when the flakes dump
SUMMER – RIVER, TRAILS, AND EPIC RIDES
- 4 min walk to private Nooksack River gate (combo 1958) → prime steelhead hole behind the fallen cedar log
- World-class MTB & dirt-bike trails 8 min up the highway
- Chain Lakes Loop trailhead at milepost 55 – moderate 6.5 mi with alpine lakes
PARKING & ARRIVAL
- Room for 2 cars parked tandem in front and 3+ additional cars in the gravel loop around back – no street parking needed
- Front door Smart Lock – We will send your unique code prior to check-in
- Bunkhouse code sent in check-in message (changed every stay)
TECH & COMFORT
- 300 Mbps Wi-Fi that actually reaches the hot tub
- Mini-splits in each house (remotes next to TVs)
• Winter: 68 °F day / 64 °F night
• Summer: 72 °F day / 68 °F night
• Set to 60 °F at check-out
- Smart TVs in living room + bunkhouse (FireTV – log in to your apps)
KITCHEN STOCK
- Keurig + creamer, brown sugar
- Hot Chocolate!
- Graza Olive oil, salt, pepper
- Dish Soap, paper towels, trash bags
- A new sponge with each check-in (we don't like to share sponges, either!)
FIRE PIT & DECK
- Metal fire pit – wood on the porch (more on the side of the house)
- Outdoor Lights – switch on post
THE VIBE
Zero neighbors. Total silence broken only by owls, wind in the cedars, and the occasional dirt-bike rip up the highway. Winter feels like a ski lodge, summer like a basecamp, fall like a mushroom hunter’s dream. Bring boots, boards, rods, bikes – leave stress at the milepost 33 sign.
Perfect for
- Ski crews who want first chair without the condo chaos
- Fly-fishing couples chasing chrome steelhead
- MTB families with kids who live for N64 tournaments
- Remote workers who need fast Wi-Fi and zero distractions
- Anyone who believes vacation should include hot tub stargazing and fresh chanterelles
RULES (because the forest is watching)
- Max 6 guests
- No parties (the cedars prefer acoustic sets)
- No smoking inside (deck & fire pit are fine)
THE BORING BUT IMPORTANT STUFF
- Check-in 4 PM / Check-out 11 AM (flexible – just ask)
- Cleaning fee covers full sanitization + hot tub drain/refill
Book now. Cancel the hotel. Tell your crew “I found the place.”
Because one night in that cedar tub under a billion stars will ruin every other cabin forever.
The hot tub is heating, the N64 is loaded, and the mountains are calling.
See you in the bubbles!
