This self-contained cottage sleeps 8 and has 3 bedrooms which are fully equipped with a queen bed in two of the rooms and 4 single beds in the other room. The house also has 2 bathrooms, laundry, large lounge room, dinning and kitchen, with undercover entertainment area and a wood fire in the lounge room.

The property has Macquarie river frontage with beautiful sandy beach entry and both shallow and deep areas for swimming, as well as a covered picnic/BBQ area for relaxing riverside lunches.

The property is set on 100 acres, ideal for large families or a group of friends who enjoy bush walking, bird watching, fishing, canoeing or just looking for a quiet retreat.
This cottage offers comfortable and relaxed accommodation.

The cottage is located 1km from the main homestead, making it private, quiet and peaceful.

Just 2 1/2 hrs from Sydney, 20 minute drive from Bathurst it is ideal to access all the local attractions.

Watton Retreat

Beautiful property, well maintained ( except the road to the cottage - needs to be graded as was very rough. thankfully we had an AWD car.) Lovely location and beautiful walking to the Macquarie River in the afternoon. peaceful and relaxing weekend - was lovely.

Peaceful and secluded

I stayed here with my husband and our two dogs for the weekend and it was the perfect getaway for us. The property is in a beautiful location with the river a short walk from the cabin. We spent most of our time in the river and on the beach which our dogs loved and then having the cabin fenced meant they could run around. The cabin was comfortable and made for an easy enjoyable stay, it was also far away from the main residence so it was super private. We’d love to come back again for another weekend!

Beautiful secluded spot

We absolutely loved this place. The home was roomy and plenty of options for keeping kids busy including swings, big fenced yard, games , colouring books. Its a short walk down the hill to the sandy banks of a river. Beautiful rocks galore! The fire warmed the whole house. Massive loungeroom with big lounge for all. Everything u need in the kitchen. The beds are so comfortable!!!! We wish we had booked it for longer. Truly awesome place to stay!

Tranquillity at its best

My family of 5 (13, 15, and 17) and our dog stayed for 4 nights during winter. It was better than described and upon arrival, wverything was made easy. The beds had linen already including blankets and a towel for each bed. Firewood was already chopped and ready to go, which was put to use straight away. The property is isolated from the main house and the neighbours, making it a true isolated property experience for my family. If you are looking to get away from the city life or want a short change of scenery from the beach life, this property lived up to expectations. It only needed an electric fry pan and we couldnt get the washing machine to work, but I didnt bother management with that issue as we lived without it.

Great getaway - highly recommended

Lovely spot and the house was perfect for a comfortable getaway. Everything you need is included (Cooking / linen / BBQ etc.), with a lovely flowing river at the back of the property and plenty of space as part of the stay.

Gorgeous Cottage in a stunning private location!

You will not be disappointed if you stay in this gorgeous cottage! It has everything you need for a comfortable stay to get away from it all! We loved exploring along the river bank and around the property with the kids. The property was easy to get to just 20 minutes from Bathurst. Sarah was a great host, very easy to communicate with and gave great instructions to the property.

Just what we needed

We loved our stay at Maru Park. A great location allowing us to feel free and escape the busyness of life while not being too far out of town. The house was ideal for us, equipped with what we needed and we arrived to a fire already going. There was plenty to explore and the kids loved visiting the creek. There was a lot of excitement each day as we drove down the driveway saying hello to all the sheep who watched as we passed and trying to find the little black lamb with the white tail. Our short stay was just what we needed for our little family and we look forward to doing it again.

Great relaxing stay

Great house in a serene location in total privacy. The indoor and outdoor fires were amazing and the river was stunning. We will be back.

A chance to get away from it all.

This is an isolated property for those who want to experience a bit of isolation. There's a beautiful creek a short walk from away with the chance to see a range of the local wildlife, such as rabbits, kangaroos, sheep, highland cattle and even a wild deer. It is fully off grid and don't forget to bring your woollies in winter as it gets damn cold. Make sure that you don't drive the Ferrari as it is accessed via a rough dirt road over a steep hill through the sheep dung. In conclusion, if you want to get away from it all and sit in front of the wood fire this may be the place for you.

What great hidden gem. Plenty of room for everyone. Beautiful swimming hole. Would come again.

Highly recommend the farm stay. Secluded spot by the river with the goats and kangaroos!

New year short stay

Had a lovely short time away with family and pets. The only downside is the property being powered by solar power which would switch off during the night making it extremely difficult to go out in the darkness to get the generator started or make the decision to sweat it out for the rest of the night till morning when the solar power would once again kick in. The road too leading to the property is a bit dangerous. Despite these, we had a great break.

What a wonderful stay we had

Peaceful, wonderful nights under the stars and in front of the fire, welcomed by butterflies upon butterflies around the old tree at the top of the hill, goats, cute white sheep with black faces, al papa's, kangaroos down by the river. Left my wedding ring behind and Sarah readily retrieved it and got it to us. We are so grateful for the memory of this trip for our family. Thank you

Quite rural experience with great views, river nearby and large family area

Isolated, off grid, good sized accommodation. Comfortable beds, hundred of dvds, games and lovely views. Reasonably well equipped kitchen. Probably would have like crockery plates ext, but plastic was provided and functional. Linen does need replacing, but does the job. Overall, a positive stay for three families sharing a Christmas lunch together!

Good to switch off the electronics and enjoy the country air

The kids had an absolute ball! Alpacas, sheep, Roos and more were curious about us right way through, we had the fire roaring inside, so was nice to not have to worry about the outside world for a few days. We bought up our dog as well and she was so excited to be on holidays with us, which was nice for a change! The place runs on solar power, and has a back up generator in case the solar runs out through the night, so you need to be aware that using power at night could led to the power going out, and then having to get the generator up and running in the middle of the night. There is no wifi, but reception is pretty good there. Nice and easy going home owners, very friendly, and quick to respond!! Much appreciated guys, we will be back!!

Quiet getaway

We had a great stay. House was a perfect size for 4 adults and 4 kids. It was clean with a good size kitchen. Kitchen towels could use replacing, had that old kitchen smell about em and washing up sponge was missing, but not a major issue. Winter stay - I would suggest bringing a few bags of kindling to get the fire started (extra firelighters wouldn't hurt either). The fire is functional but could do with a more efficient update. It's all off-grid so if rainy like when we stayed you may need to start the generator (was easy and only needed to be on for a 30 min or so to recharge the batteries). Turing off devices at night helped keep the battery till morning. There is an old train car towards the river that looks like it used to be a cabin. Best to steer clear, bit of debris around. Access the river only a short walk via the road near the front gate to the cabin/house. Being winter we didn't swim and by the 2nd day the river had risen due to the rain. But was really nice to be able to sit by the river. Kids loved he space and ran around like crazy for hours. We got one night with a clear sky and the stars were amazing. Outdoor setting was great as well as the fire-pit and BBQ. Overall if you are looking for an off-grid escape then this is the place for you. Oh and we could get Optus reception (fairly strong mostly) but Telstra was SOS the whole time so something to keep in mind if you want to stay connected.
