Private hot tub, Large deck, 40 inch flat screen TV with built in apps, Blu-Ray DVD player with built in apps, wireless high speed internet (no satellite or cable though), and washer and dryer. You'll also find a fully stocked kitchen with vintage china and everything you need. The 900 sf cabin is beautifully decorated with folk art and antiques and has a large library of mystery novels for young and old. Outside there is a very large wrap around deck with tables and chairs.

The water may smell like Sulphur. It is natural magnesium that is common in well water. It is not harmful. Running the water for short while will eliminate the smell.

As usual, the best weekend away we could ask for!

My wife and I have stayed here multiple times for important events in our relationship, from just needing to get away to our honeymoon and now our babymoon. It was just what we needed before we welcome our little girl in the next few weeks! Cant wait to come back and bring our son and daughter next time!

Birthday get away

The cabin was cozy, rustic. It met our needs. The road up to it was a little rough but we were prepared. The hot tub was nice, and the porch was nice for sitting on in the mornings and drinking coffee.

Peace and quiet

The cabin as a whole was perfect. We absolutely loved the layout. All of the comforts of home in a tranquil setting nestled into the hillside. There were a couple of things we could nitpick but we're not those types of people.

Lovely Remote Cabin

Mountain retreat

It was dark when we got there but we followed the directions and got in safe and sound. Very nicely decorated rustic yet lots of antiques. Very relaxing weekend

Cabin Getaway

The property was a joy to stay at, my partner and I had a fantastic time relaxing in the hot tub and enjoying the Fall weather of North GA. Edwin was able to accommodate an extra night for us since we couldn't get enough. 5 stars.

Would stay again!

Spent a recent weekend here with my boyfriend and another couple. It was a wonderful, remote escape, yet convenient to attractions! We enjoyed visiting Tallulah Gorge, but also enjoyed time just spent relaxing at the cabin. The horse shoes and the hot tub were a definite plus! The cabin is very clean and comfortable. We also enjoyed its charm. Would definitely recommend, and I cannot wait to visit again!

Honeymoon

We had a great time. The hot tub was absolutely fabulous! The scenery was beautiful and the weather was great. I do recommend to everybody by the insurance! I’m not sure whether or not we broke the toilet seat, or the toilet seat was already broken, but either way it will be replaced, and both parties are covered. Great place to stay very private!

it is secluded, but it’s not too far to get to town. It’s very private no one can see you the bed were comfortable only complants is front door does need some attention it drags hard to open wish it had alittle more water pressure in shower other than that a very perfect place to relax an let loose

Great little getaway!

We went for a Valentine trip and it did not disappoint! Everything was great! We loved the hot tub and the house had everything we needed for the most part. The other reviews weren’t playing about the road being difficult, but our Nissan Versa pushed through! Just go slow and steady. Overall, definitely worth it and recommend to people!

Quite.

Was very rainy getting there. I drove a Ford Escape so you can get up the road. Would be very hard finding the place in the dark. Bathroom has a shower tub with plenty of hot water. The wood stove worked like a charm. Do bring your own wood.

Definitely check in during day time

Driveway/road to cabin was more than rustic. Our Ford Expedition struggled big time and is now needing a front end alignment. We got stuck in the actual place to park and getting out was difficult with no room to move the vehicle to get turned around. Cabin was very clean, however, there were great discrepancies in pics with decorative items that to some are no big deal but to us they were. I have nothing bad to say other than had these been in the pics representing the cabin, we would have not have booked.

Comfy Owl's Nest

My daughter and I spent a weekend at the owl's nest cabin. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy our time in the mountains. I loved the skylights and the log beams in the kitchen, and all the interesting artwork throughout the house. The hot tub was very relaxing after a day of hiking and exploring Helen a few miles away, and the high speed internet was also appreciated. I had no trouble finding the cabin, and no trouble with the driveway (although I do have a truck). The only suggestion I would make is to put a more secure lock on the main door, I did worry about that during our stay. Overall however, a wonderful little place at an excellent nightly rate. Hope to visit again!

Didn’t want to leave

It’s secluded but you can still hear people. The cabin is very clean. Didn’t see any bugs. Heard the wildlife in the early morning hours. Hot tub was great after a long day of hiking. Town is pretty close for all of your needs the driveway is interesting. We chose to drive our truck instead of the car. I’m glad we did. Just go slow you will be fine. Wouldn’t want to do that in the ice and snow without 4 wheel drive. Would stay here again!

Great cabin get away!

This is a great private location. Very quiet. It is absolutely as advertised and the owner is easy to work with. Having the hot tub was a huge bonus :o) Loved having a pretty well stocked kitchen to make dinners easy. I brought a few specialty items with so I would have everything I needed to make my son's birthday dinner. The collection of available DVD's and games was great! My kids never reached for the remote until after trying out a "new" family game. I don't think they ever figured out that there was TV and internet available...so to me this was perfect! Comfortably slept 4 could be good for up to 6. We would definitely come back and would recommend this place to out family and friends!

Lovely little cabin full of rustic charm

A lovely little cabin full of rustic charm is the best way to describe this place. I honestly don’t think the pictures do it justice. It is small, but not cramped. It was very clean. The kitchen was well equipped. I appreciated the sharp knives and quality cookware, which we have found is a rarity in cabin rentals. The hot tub was wonderful and, like the cabin, very clean. The furniture was comfortable. The bed was a little firmer than I prefer, but I still slept well. The only negatives I could find were ones we were already informed of in the listing, the water and the road. The water smell wasn’t a huge issue. Truthfully, the only time I really noticed it was when I washed my hands in the bathroom sink. We brought bottled water to drink. The road is a bit treacherous. I highly recommend arriving while it’s still light out. We made it fine in our Buick Encore, but I could see where a lower car would have major difficulties. Communication with the host was excellent. When we arrived the WiFi wasn’t working. Host responded promptly letting us know it was an area outage and was currently being worked on. Then replied again to let us know it was fixed and to make sure we were up and running. Overall we had a very pleasant stay. I highly recommend!

What I expected for the price...

The cabin was ok and we only needed it for a couple nights as a place to sleep so it served it's purpose. I've definitely stayed in nicer cabins but it's what I expected for the price. It was clean but there is no deadbolt or secondary lock of any kind on the front door. The front door looked like someone had tried breaking in before and did not latch as secure as I would of liked. Hot tub was broken which I understand things happen but it was something we were looking forward to enjoying so it was a bummer to find out on arrival. Overall it was ok but I wouldn't stay here again.

Country getaway

My husband and I wanted to get away for the weekend somewhere that was comfortable, quiet, and private, while being close enough to get out and about if we wanted. This property fit the bill. Definitely don't recommend driving a low car, which we were advised about in listing/booking. We took my husband's truck and thankful we did. The property was as listed. The only down falls was the bed in the room near hottub was extremely hard and uncomfortable. The hot tub needed some type of covering above it to keep debris falls from trees out while trying to enjoy. All of the furniture on the porch was too dirty to use without thoroughly cleaning. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook. We would definitely stay here again if the mattress is replaced or a super thick topper added. Excellent communication with question about property.

Very secluded get-away spot

This property is perfect if you want a lot of privacy surrounded by nature. My husband and I wanted a short North Georgia mountain retreat and this place was perfect! We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub; and we cooked a few meals. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook. The beds were comfortable and there were TVs in both bedrooms. I also appreciate the reusable filter in the coffee maker. The property is at the end of a dirt road and the trek wasn't too bad in our small SUV. The property owner was up front about the drive in and we appreciated his stellar directions for the drive in. This place is very close to Clayton, GA and there are many very good places to eat there. The downtown area of Clayton was spectacular, full of friendly folks and lots of cool little shops. This place is also only about 8 miles from Tallulah Falls State park, which is a must-see if you're up that way. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. One thing I'd like to point out---you have to take your trash with you and the recycling center in Tallulah Falls wasn't open until 12pm on Sunday. We ended up just taking it home with us. Overall...spectacular VRBO property that soothed our souls with its gorgeous natural surroundings. Great outside deck too...for drinks, music, chatting. Highly recommend!

Cute cabin - minimal accoutrements

The description and photos of the property are complete and true to life. After I paid and completed my reservation, I received explicit directions which were very helpful in finding the property - even in darkness! However, that was the point when I was informed that I would need an SUV or high clearance vehicle to navigate the short unpaved road off the paved road to the cabin. Fortunately, I DO have an SUV. The cabin itself is minimally furnished. I was informed that I should bring any and all paper products (paper towels, toilet tissue, etc.) In the bathroom and kitchen were almost empty bottles of Softsoap which had also been watered down to make it last longer, I suppose. There were three televisions. The one in the living room/den had all sorts of access to HULU, Netflix, Amazon, etc. The drawback was that when you selected a movie, there was no remote with which to find the volume that would turn on the audio for the movie. The internet connection is unsecured (no password necessary). Since I brought a book, I was able to entertain myself. I did not spend entire days at the cabin so I was not greatly inconvenienced by the lack of comforts. If you wish to enjoy the deck, bring cleaners to clean the porch furniture. It was dusty and covered in spider webs.

Owl's Nest Review

We spent 3 nights at the Owl's Nest in October 2016. We were happy with the cleanliness of the cabin and kitchen supplies (dishes, pots, pans, glasses, etc). We appreciated having laundry access and a clean empty refrigerator/freezer as well. A few observations/suggestions for the kitchen would be to invest in a glass one cup measuring cup (both for heating water and measuring when cooking) and a soft scraping spatula. I missed those two items more than anything! Lots of games, books and videos for entertainment for guests! Loved the proximity to Clayton and surrounding interest points. We loved Tallulah Gorge, Hillside Farm, hiking and the town shops. The Chamber of Commerce gave us great places to visit, maps and information. The downside of this property, which has been addressed the most in other reviews, was the driveway leading into the cabin. We had a Honda Accord, not a high or low vehicle, but we had TERRIBLE difficulty avoiding the deep ruts and holes in the driveway. I never drove over 5 mph to avoid hitting the underside of the car (which we still did because it was unavoidable), and 2 mph when it got to the deep trenches. Because the driveway is so narrow, and drops off on the sides in places, there was no going "right or left" to much degree to avoid scraping the bottom of the car. It was so bad, that we left in the morning and came back before dark so we didn't have to use the driveway any more than necessary. With the numerous complaints about this, and the recognition of the problem, we would suggest that gravel be used to fill at least the deep ruts and holes. Guests should not have to deal with such a horrible driveway getting in and out of such a nice property.

Remote and simple luxury

This home is the definition of cozy and, in this case, it's not just a euphemism for small. There are large comfortable sofas, skylights in the living and dining area, a wood stove that will heat the entire home and lots of peace and quiet. It's a perfect place for that Romantic retreat, or a place to park yourself and work on that novel, or to sit in quiet contemplation or use as a base of operations for the many outdoor activities available in the area.
