Me and my college friends had a fun weekend reuniting for the IL state fair. The Hidden Gem proved to be the perfect home base for us! It was clean with plenty of entertainment and a cute area out back to hang out. If we have occasion to return to Springfield, we would definitely come back. Thanks Natalie!

This converted commercial space makes an excellent location for a large group to gather. Plenty of parking, plenty of bedrooms and beds, and great spaces for medium gatherings, in our case, a tabletop gaming weekend. We'll certainly book this space again in the future.

Amazing property. Great spaces to converse with family/friends, well equipped kitchen, large tables for dinners/gathering, and amazing electronics. The throwback 80's authentic video games were super fun, and we loved the theater style viewing with television set ups. Bedrooms were spacious and bathrooms were cleaner than brand new. Host was very responsive. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a great place to hang out with a larger group of family or friends.

This property really is a hidden gem. It was impeccably clean, well furnished, and full of entertainment. The theater and arcade games were a treat. The host had labeled everything and left kind notes with other relevant information. Small details, like a child-gate at the bottom of the spiral stairs, show that the host had thoroughly thought through what a guest might want during their stay. In and out access was easy with plenty of parking and privacy. We would absolutely stay at this hidden gem again and would recommend it to anyone staying near Springfield with larger parties.

Our Host, Natalie was very accommodating and helpful. We had the opportunity to meet Natalie. She gave us local places and things to do while we were in Springfield, Illinois. The property was definitely how it was listed in VRBO. As you enter the Property, you walk into the Living Room which is spacious with accommodations to seat our entire family.of eleven very comfortably. And there was still room for more guests. The seven bedroom accommodations were perfect for our needs. There were three full bathrooms, which were spacious and stocked with bathroom supplies. The kitchen had a wide selection of kitchen gadgets, pots, pans, utensils, small appliances , etc. to assist our cooking needs. The room right off from the kitchen was the Dining Room / Theatre Area / Gaming Area. The Dining Table sat twelve people perfectly. Great gathering table to sit and chat too. This room was very popular with the kids as well as the adults. The theatre area room had seven recliner seats, a double size cushion futon seat, and two extra-large round cushions which were very popular with the kids to sit or lay on.The Gaming Area had 4 standing games, Fuzzball Table, and Air Hockey Table.Off from the Gaming Room is a spacious Laundry Room. There was at least Five Parking Spaces reserved for our parking needs. This is a truly a wonderful Property which we highly recommend. Our Family Reunion was very memorable due largely to our Host’s beautiful Property. Thank you, Natalie.

Hello, I’m Natalie Grider—the stylist, salon owner, wife and mom of two. I proudly run Appearances Salon & Retreat—the salon at the front of this building. When I purchased the building, the previous tenant closed its doors. I saw an opportunity and potential to transform the space intoa chic, studio-inspired vibe, where families could stay.

With Scheels Sports Complex under construction nearby, I envisioned a welcoming spot where families could stay together, enjoy weekend adventures, and create lasting memories. As a mom and aunt with travel-sports kids, I aimed to craft a relaxing oasis for parents and a fun Rec Room for kids.

Our goal is simple: a space built for game days and getaways, where teammates, cousins, and families can connect and unwind. Welcome to The Hidden Gem!

Por qué eligió esta propiedad

I chose this neighborhood because it already felt like home. As the owner of the front-of-building salon, I’ve watched this area grow into a vibrant, family-friendly community with excellent accessibility—making it a surprisingly easy fit for a welcoming VRBO.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

Truly a hidden-gem, tucked within a calm commercial district, offering the best of both worlds: a serene environment with easy access and generous on-site parking. Located in one of Springfield’s safest neighborhoods, it’s ideal for families seeking a worry-free weekend getaway.
