Información de la propiedad

Dog-Friendly Cabin · Fire Pit · Hot Tub · Sleeps 6

Sherwood is a cabin for six with a little more flexibility than most. Two king bedrooms — one on the main floor, one on the lower level — plus a queen murphy bed in the lower level living area for however the group decides to sort itself out.

Named for Sherwood Anderson — the Ohio writer behind Winesburg, Ohio, who understood that the quieter moments are usually the ones worth remembering — it's one of four cabins at Notestone Reserve, our family-owned 14-acre property in Laurelville.

Perfect for groups of six who need a little flexibility — two king bedrooms plus a murphy bed, dogs welcome, and a lower level that gives everyone somewhere to land.

What You'll Love

• Two full king bedrooms plus a murphy bed that makes the lower level work for however your group is configured

• A lower level built for the long evening — game table, arcade machine, 65" Smart TV

• Hot tub tucked under the covered lower deck — ready in any weather

• Fire pit that earns its keep once the sun goes down

• The shared game room just a short walk across the property — pool table, arcade, 85" Smart TV, and more

Sleeping — Sleeps 6

• Main floor: king bedroom

• Lower level: king bedroom

• Lower level: queen murphy bed in the living area

• Pack 'n play available on site — just give us a heads up. Bring your own sheets if needed.

Outside

• Covered deck off the main floor with seating

• Woodburning fire pit — firewood ready when you arrive. You'll find it in the outdoor box by the fire pit or by the shipping container.

• Hot tub tucked under the covered lower deck — protected from rain and sun, usable year-round

• Propane grill with tools

Main Floor

Open concept kitchen, living, and dining — whoever's cooking is still part of the conversation. Full kitchen with everything you need to make a real meal. Island seating for 2, table seating for 4. Bluetooth speaker for the background noise.

• No garbage disposal or dishwasher — worth knowing for longer stays

• Kitchen stocked with basic pantry items to get you started

• Starter kit on arrival: paper towels, a kitchen sponge, and trash liners. Worth packing a little extra for longer stays.

Bathrooms

Two full bathrooms with showers — one on the main floor, one on the lower level. Each stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and lotion. Two rolls of toilet paper per bathroom to get you started — worth packing extra for longer stays.

Lower Level

• King bedroom

• Queen murphy bed in the living area — to be operated by adults only

• Living area with 65" Smart TV with streaming capabilities

• Arcade machine

• Game table

Dogs Welcome

Up to 2 dogs per stay. Dogs must stay leashed on the property and off the furniture. A $100 pet fee applies per stay.

The Shared Game Room (open to all Notestone guests — a short walk across the property)

• 85" Smart TV

• Pool table and foosball

• Basketball arcade, classic arcade machines, and a racing game

Getting Here and Getting Around

Notestone Reserve sits in the heart of the Hocking Hills — close enough to hit two or three trails in a day and still be back in time for the fire.

• Rock House — 3.3 miles · 7 min

• Conkle's Hollow — 8.8 miles · 15 min

• Old Man's Cave — 11 miles · 20 min

• Ash Cave — 16 miles · 28 min

Cedar Falls, Cantwell Cliffs, and the rest of the state park system are all within a short drive. Cell signal on the back-country roads can be spotty — download your directions before you leave home.

Sherwood sits at the bottom of a small hill. Under normal conditions it's accessible in most vehicles — but during winter months when ice and snow are a factor, 4WD or AWD is strongly recommended.

About the WiFi

We run Starlink satellite internet. It holds up well for most things — streaming, music, casual browsing. Video calls and long phone calls can cut out occasionally, especially on overcast days. If you're planning to work remotely, it can work, but plan for the occasional hiccup. We'd rather tell you upfront than have you find out mid-Zoom.

A Note on the Setting

We're in a wooded area and stay on top of regular pest control. That said, a ladybug or a curious spider showing up is just Hocking Hills being Hocking Hills.

Check-in: 4:00 PM · Check-out: 11:00 AM

Early check-in and late checkout are available based on our schedule — fees and taxes apply. Just send us a message and we'll let you know what's possible.

Late checkout to 2:00 p.m. — $75 + tax

Early check-in, 2:00 p.m. arrival — $50 + tax

Early check-in, noon arrival — $75 + tax

A Few House Rules

We're a small, family-owned operation, and keeping Notestone calm and well-kept is a group effort. A few things we ask:

• No parties or events, including bachelor/bachelorette groups. And no glitter — it genuinely never goes away.

• Registered guests only on the property

• No smoking or vaping anywhere on the property, indoors or out

• No fireworks, ATVs, hunting, or weapons on the property

• No commercial photography or video without written approval

• Hot tub: striped towels only, keep the cover on between soaks, and please don't adjust the temperature • below 100 degrees — it takes several hours to recover

• Septic system: flush toilet paper only, no garbage disposal at the sink

• 4WD/AWD recommended during winter months

Before You Arrive

All guests sign a short renter's agreement after booking. We'll send it over — quick, painless, and it helps us take good care of you and everyone else on the property.

LOCATION DESCRIPTION

Notestone Reserve sits in Laurelville, Ohio — in the heart of the Hocking Hills region. Rock House is 3.3 miles away (about 7 minutes). Cantwell Cliffs is 7.4 miles (about 15 minutes). Conkle's Hollow is 8.8 miles (about 15 minutes). Old Man's Cave is 11 miles out (about 20 minutes), and Ash Cave is 16 miles (about 28 minutes) — a full day of exploring without ever doubling back. 4WD/AWD strongly recommended for Sherwood during winter months. The remoteness is the point.

GETTING THERE

Notestone Reserve is in a rural area of Hocking Hills — the good kind. Under normal conditions the driveways are accessible in just about any vehicle. The back-country roads leading in are a different story in winter — we recommend 4WD or AWD when ice and snow are a factor. Sherwood sits at the bottom of a small hill, so during winter months 4WD or AWD is strongly recommended.

GETTING AROUND

Once you're here, everything worth seeing in the Hocking Hills is within a short drive. Rock House is 7 minutes. Old Man's Cave is 20. Ash Cave is 28 — far enough to feel like a day trip, close enough to be back for the hot tub before dark. Cell signal on the back-country roads can be spotty; download your trail maps before you leave the property.

We’ve stayed at a lot of properties and this was one of our favorites. Great hiking nearby, our cabin was tucked away in the back of the property and was extremely clean. They thought of everything, we will definitely be making a return trip back.

Sherwood is a nice modern, family friendly getaway destination.

Our family of six, ranging from 7 months to 73 years of age were quite comfortable there. We spent 5 nights during warm and humid August weather and the unit kept us quite comfortable. The AC unit is strong!! We enjoyed making a fire in the provided fire pit and appreciated that firewood was provided. Also used the hot tub and that was a treat, even during humid weather. It was a bonus that linens were provided as were basic condiments and kitchen furnishings. We packed and brought our own food and made good use of the kitchen. Notestone staff were readily available and attentive to our requests and that also made the stay enjoyable. Hocking Hills is a beautiful area and there is much more to be seen than we managed to take in during our 5 night stay.

Hi, I'm Stacey — one of the founders of Notestone Reserve, and the person who's been hands-on in shaping every space on the property. Restoration is something I think about a lot. The idea that something with potential can become something worth keeping — that broken pieces, arranged with care, can turn into something magnificent. Stained glass works that way. So does Notestone. This property started as a vision and a lot of hard work. What it is now — ten units across 14 acres in the heart of Hocking Hills, each one named for a writer who paid attention to the world around them — is the result of believing that where you rest matters. Every detail reflects what I personally look for when I travel: comfort without pretense, nature without roughing it. The bedding, the hot tubs, the fire pits, the game room — which sounds shared until you realize that most nights it belongs entirely to your group anyway. The kind of place where your own story gets written. I'm proud of what we've built. And I'd love to have you here. Welcome to Notestone Reserve.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

Sherwood is a cabin for six with two king bedrooms, a queen murphy bed, and a lower level that gives the group somewhere to land — game table, arcade machine, 65" TV. Flexible enough for however your group sorts itself out, with a covered hot tub and fire pit waiting outside. As a Notestone Reserve guest you'll also have access to our shared community game room — pool table, basketball arcade, classic arcade machines, and a big-screen TV lounge. Most nights it's all yours. Notestone Reserve sits in Laurelville, right in the heart of Hocking Hills — an Ohio writer's backyard, and some of the best hiking in the state. Close enough to the trails to make a day of it, quiet enough that the evenings feel earned.
