We recommend a visit to the town of Varadin and a tour of its sights and cultural events such as the entomological collection The World of Insects and the Museum of Angels. In the Baroque centre of the old town you will see preserved palaces, important public buildings, valuable houses and villas in the Baroque, Rococo, Classicist and Art Nouveau styles and one of the oldest European town halls. Varadin is also known as the town of bell towers. Be sure to visit the cemetery, an example of park architecture and a monument to nature, as well as numerous beautifully landscaped parks and promenades, of which the John Paul II Park and the Strossmayer Promenade stand out. Among the interesting things are the changing of the city guard in front of the town hall, whose members are called Purgari, then the city market, the square of traditional crafts and the courtyards of Varadin, especially within the historic city centre. Recognisable symbols of the town are the coat of arms on the town hall, the tower of the old town, the palaces of Drakovi, Patai and Mrazovi, the church of St. Nicholas.
