In the village of Dornumergrode, on the outskirts of the North Sea resort of Dornumersiel, our vacation home “Grodehus” is ready to welcome you for a cozy and relaxing stay by the North Sea.
Experience the North Sea breeze and the healthy, salt- and iodine-rich air, just a few meters from the historic “Störtebekerstraße”—a street named after the legendary pirate—in absolute tranquility. Because in our beautiful vacation home, you’re meant to truly unwind!
In the evening, explore the open East Frisian marshlands all the way to the summer dike and enjoy the sunset. And on the other side of the dike lies the North Sea—sometimes calm, sometimes turbulent, but always fascinating: This is where the “Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park” begins, a “UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site” since 2009.
The “Grodehus” vacation home is comfortable, cozy, and very well-equipped, featuring, for example, a washing machine and a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and microwave. With approximately 85 square meters of living space, the vacation home can accommodate up to 7 people plus an additional toddler. The “Grodehus” vacation home features a southwest-facing terrace with an outdoor fireplace, a play and sunbathing area, and an unobstructed view of the surrounding fields. For our younger guests, there is a sandbox in the garden that is visible from the terrace. Our vacation home is located at the end of a cul-de-sac, and there are two private parking spaces in front of the house.
Dornumergrode is situated between the North Sea resort of Dornumersiel and the coastal resort of Neßmersiel. There you’ll find many health resorts, beaches, a heated outdoor pool, the “Sturmfrei” multifunctional leisure and event center, cozy restaurants and pubs, as well as shopping options.
Dornumersiel, just a few hundred meters east of Dornumergrode, has been a North Sea resort since 1990 and features a 70,000 m² sandy beach. This Sielort is one of the oldest harbors on the East Frisian coast.
We invite you to take an idyllic stroll along the “Mahlbusen,” a large, lake-like expanse of the “Dornumersieler Tief” (What is a “Tief”? For more information, please click here!). In and on the “Mahlbusen,” you can go fishing, paddling, and paddle boating. Dornumersiel also features a swimming beach, a heated North Sea water outdoor pool, and all the amenities you need for your spa stay.
At the “Reethaus am Meer,” which features a play barn, you’ll find a reading room with a library, a fireplace lounge, table tennis, arts-and-crafts and workshop rooms, as well as seminar and lecture rooms. For our younger guests, there’s a play area, craft rooms, table tennis, foosball, and a bocce court. And for those who don’t want to miss out on brain teasers while on vacation, you can play chess outside in front of the “Reethaus am Meer.”
The fishing boat and recreational boat harbor is a defining feature of our North Sea resort. Westeraccumersiel, as the harbor district of Dornumersiel is called, has the most significant flatfish catch of all East Frisian ports. You have the opportunity to go fishing on a fishing boat or buy freshly caught fish right in the harbor.
The coastal resort of Neßmersiel is located to the west of Dornumersiel and is another “Siel” village with a restored Siel gate, a former harbor basin, and a charming glimpse into the East Frisian “Siele” of days gone by. Today, Neßmersiel is a tranquil, small coastal resort with a sandy beach. It serves as a ferry port to the North Sea island of Baltrum and is the starting point for numerous mudflat hikes.
“Sturmfrei” is Neßmersiel’s multifunctional family recreation center, offering 3,000 square meters of activity space for adventure, play, fun, excitement, and entertainment. “Sturmfrei” brings it all under one roof: a wellness center, event center, creative center, sports center, dining center, and more. It also offers fitness, wellness, and beauty services, as well as an immersive cinema where you can feel the movies. “Sturmfrei” is likely the largest indoor, self-contained activity center with recreational offerings on the North Sea coast.
Above all, however, Neßmersiel is the central hub for mudflat hikers: If you’d like to experience the “Wadden Sea National Park” up close and personal,
