Located in Pretty Marsh, the "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island, this beachfront 2-bedroom vacation home offers a tranquil escape from the everyday. This home is part of a private community of multi-generation owned homes.

The main house is an open concept barn with a large fully stocked kitchen and large living room space. The upstairs sleeping loft has a full bathroom, one queen bed and 5 twin beds. The kitchen was renovated in 2022 and has all the essentials you need to whip up delectable meals. Unwind by the cozy fireplace or enjoy the stunning ocean views from the porch. Adjacent to the Barn, connected by a screen porch, is a cabin with queen bed & private bathroom.

The home has over 1000 feet of private oceanfront on the western most point of the peninsula, directly across from Bartlett's Island, which is privately owned by the Rockefeller family. There are two beaches, perfect for launching a kayak, and a classic Maine dock. With a washing machine, dryer, outdoor shower and an array of games and books, this property has everything you need for a truly memorable vacation.

If you choose to head out, Acadia National Park is just an 8-minute drive away and the Acadia National Park's Visitors Center is 20 minutes from your doorstep. There are multiple fresh water swimming access points on Long Pond within a 10 minute drive. Southwest Harbor is a 15 minute drive and Bar Harbor is 25 minutes drive from your home-away-from-home.

Serene relaxing stay

Fantastic camp. Felt transported back in time, in the best possible way. Cant say enough about the host and caretaker, they went out of their way to make our stay pleasant.

Exceeded expectations

A beautiful location, barn/house, and attached cabin that worked very well for our 3 generation family. We had a great time and enjoyed the easy water access, the fairy forest, the sunsets from the dock, suppers on the deck, and some of the things that closeness to Acadia offered. The warm family feeling from the owners was a big plus too.

What a truly enchanting place. We so enjoyed the solitude that seemed to melt away the stresses of the world. Cocktails on the deck, roaring fire in the fireplace, rustic throwback to yesteryear, no TV and spotty internet...Perfect!! When looking to unplug. Nice neighbors and awesome 180 degree views from the deck. Our Great Dane puppy so enjoyed romping around off-leash on the grounds. Best Place I've ever stayed on MDI!! Book it and Chill! You won't regret it...

Beautiful week at West Point

This property is heaven! We all enjoyed exploring around the woods, fishing and jumping off the dock, and lazily watching the boats in the harbor. The kitchen was well stocked. There were fans but the breeze was amazing at night so we slept well. Out internet access was spotty but it was fine. It was nice to unplug! We played games, cooked and listened to music instead of scrolling! The drive into Bar Harbor is a bit far (25 min or so) but not too bad. Beech Mt is nearby to hike- that was fun! Our dog had a blast running around the yard and checking out the rocky beach. It was certainly a family vacation we will never forget! I hope we get to go back again someday! Thank you to this family for sharing your home!

Classic Coastal Maine

We really enjoyed our visit! I’d heartily recommend this rental to anyone looking for a rustic Maine getaway. Views from the house are terrific. Get up early to watch lobster boats check their traps or take a short stroll to catch the sunrise over Pretty Marsh from the causeway. When the water was calm it was easy to spot gray seals and even a pod of porpoises swimming by. Other wildlife included foxes, deer, loons, cormorants and bald eagles. The private beach was delightful but does require a short scramble over rocks to access. The kitchen was very functional and large enough to accommodate a couple cooks without getting too crowded. Be prepared to climb stairs to the main door and to the loft. There is no direct indoor access between the cabin and main building. We had only 1 or 2 bars of Verizon service, but that was also true over most of the island. It’s a 30 minute drive to Bar Harbor and a little less to Southwest Harbor or Northeast Harbor. We had a minor issue during our visit and the host was very responsive and resolved it promptly.

Magical, rustic property with views of the water from most windows. We saw an eagle, seal and coyote - and lots of hummingbirds, bees, chipmunks and squirrels. Good beachcombing.. Lots of room to roam. Barn and cabin are charming. Loft reminded us of summer camp - great for kids but no privacy. Be aware - no WiFi and limited cell coverage on this very quiet side.

Perfect and magical rustic barn on the water on MDI. Incredible views all around, beautiful beach and dock, fire pit, and cozy barn / cabin were the ideal home base on MDI to both explore the island, but also completely unplug and relax as a family.

Amazing property

As previous summarized in other reviews, this property is a child’s wonderland and the pictures don’t do the actual experience justice. We loved our quiet morning coffee overlooking the water and the amazing sunsets at nights followed by warm campfires relaxing and talking about our adventures during the day.

Utterly magical Maine/Acadia vacation perfection! 10/10

Sincere thanks to the owner family for allowing us to share the beauty of this place! The photos simply DO NOT do justice - FAR FAR MORE beautiful. Perched on an isolated bluff overlooking the peaceful narrows, it is truly isolated, charming, rustic, and quiet. Our week here was utter bliss. A fantastic place for dogs, with quiet paths for long walks, and many acadian beaches for exploring. Endless opportunities for hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking, etc. A few helpful pieces of advice for future visitors: 1) no internet/wifi and very limited cell service often without LTE - be prepared to go into Bar Harbor to reconnect every now and then, 2) well water tastes funny but no worry - owners (very kindly) provided spring water, 3) cool in Maine even in summer (50-70s) so bring layers, 4) limited interior lighting - bring headlamps/good flashlights for getting around at night. But COME HERE - you will not regret it!

Beautiful Setting

My family stayed at this property over the 4th of July. We loved the grounds and breathtaking views of the water. We really enjoyed the sunsets! The house is a rustic cabin and was cozy and comfortable. The house and property are not too far from the actual Acadia National Park and it was very nice not being in all the crowds in Bar Harbor. We hit Maine at a perfect time weather wise and thoroughly enjoyed our trip.

Amazing place to stay!

We had a blast! Beautiful home, cozy, rustic warm and so inviting. We stayed there for a week and West Point treated us so well. We will go back every year if we can! We had fresh lobsters from the Intrepid Lobster boat. The captin let us pick them out, and we only paid $10.00 for two lobsters! The home is on the quiet side of Island and bar harbor was a short drive and there is plenty of fun things to do! treat your self to the best and visit this property!

Amazing spot

This property is special and the house charming. It has all necessary conveniences along with great views and easy water access. Having a separate cottage and main house is great for multi-age family groups. Location works well to get anywhere on Mt. Dessert Island.

Our family starting camping on this property almost 60 years ago. In the early 1960's, our parents converted the barn into a modern living space and added a cabin, with two bathrooms and laundry facilities. We have vacationed here every year since, and we still are finding new adventures! The kayaking and sailing among the nearby islands is unsurpassed. The nearby trails offer endless variety and gorgeous views for hiking and biking. On a foggy day, there is no cozier place to curl up with a book. We were children here, we brought our children here, and now we bring our grandchildren. This is a place that awakens curiosity in the natural world in for young and old alike. We love sharing this special place with guests.

This property offers spectacular ocean frontage, two semi private beaches, and a cozy rustic living space for up to eight people. It is perfect for families. Acadia National Park is close by. Bar Harbor is an easy drive. It is the perfect place from which to launch exceptional hiking, biking, boating expeditions. There are spectacular opportunities for beach combing, wildlife viewing, painting and photography. Even on a foggy Maine morning, it is the best place to read a good book, put together a puzzle, play board games, sing songs by the fire, or cook a giant feast.

This seven acre property with its two semi-private beaches is just a short drive to Acadia National Park - and yet it is on the quiet side of MDI and undisturbed by the throngs of tourists that descend on Bar Harbor. You can relax and recharge here. You can see as much of the Park as you want, and come home to your own paradise. If you want to experience the Maine Coast, you never have to leave the property. You can see fishing boats, yachts, and even schooners sail right past the barn, on their way up Bartlett's Narrows. You can watch seals and porpoises cavort. Eagles, egrets, loons and osprey are not uncommon. Deer and foxes are seen in the Spring and Fall. You can explore tidal pools, walk the beach, fish off the dock, and swim right from the property. On foggy days and cool evenings, work on a puzzle, play games, and sing songs in front of the fire, or read a good book. Feast on lobster, crab cakes, mussels and clams. Source them locally - at Hodgdon's Seafood, or get your lobster right off the boat (you have to time this carefully) at Bartletts Landing. You have to see it to experience the magic!
