Despite receiving a completely different room than what was listed in the booking photos, the room we got was equitable (had nice newer appliances, a comfortable clean bed, no weird smells). The biggest disappointment was not being able to use the pool or hot tub (which was the very reason we chose this booking); Vrbo listing stated that the pool and hot tub would be available during the time of our stay, but when we arrived these were both closed for maintenance. The apartment complex was responsible for this delay, but it still would have been helpful if host had informed us prior to arrival so we had more time to make alternative swimming plans, as the apt office told us Vrbo hosts had been given advance notice of the issue. Due to this, we requested partial reimbursement, which was politely declined (if host had offered to refund even a trivial amount, this would have greatly improved our experience- it was more about the principle than the money itself). Check-in instructions were well written, but the process was still a bit confusing (complex was difficult to navigate, physical key did not work in door, etc). It would have been convenient to have two building access fobs (one for each person). Kitchen counters & appliances, bathroom, and linens were all clean. Kitchen floors left our feet dirty after walking on them and carpets showed evidence of previous guests, so not sure if they'd been vacuumed (given the cleaning fee, we felt the floors should have been cleaner).
