If you love the atmosphere of camping but prefer a real bed, heat, and hot showers, Field & Fern is for you. This tiny, one-room cottage delivers a true nature escape while keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer. Evenings are especially magical—sit by your private fire, listen to the brook, stargaze, curl up in the hammock, or unwind in the shared hot tub overlooking the river.
Wake to birdsong, sip your morning coffee on the veranda, and enjoy 15 fenced acres of open countryside—perfect for roaming, relaxing, and bringing your dog along (with pet fee). Outdoor adventurers will love nearby hiking, biking, skiing, snowmobiling, ATV trails, horseback riding, waterfalls, fishing, and beautiful waterways within walking distance.
We’re conveniently located just 12 minutes from Tatamagouche, where you’ll find beaches, Tatamagouche Brewery, restaurants, cafés, boutiques, groceries, NSLC, and more. Skiers will love being only 25 minutes from Ski Wentworth.

We’re Melinda and Stuart, the hosts behind Field & Fern Cottages — but our story here actually started as guests.
In 2025, we came to Field & Fern for our wedding anniversary and immediately fell in love with the peaceful setting, beautiful countryside and the chance to truly unplug and reconnect with nature. We never expected that anniversary getaway would lead to something more, but later that year we had the opportunity to purchase the property and took possession in November 2025.
We uprooted our life in PEI to build our home and a new chapter here in the countryside. We’ve always loved being outdoors and spending time in nature, especially as a family. Our kids are now young adults, but many of our favourite memories were made exploring, camping, hiking and simply enjoying time outside together.
Those experiences shaped what we wanted Field & Fern to be — a place where people can slow down, unplug, reconnect with nature and make their own memories.
Since taking over, we’ve been putting our own touch on Field & Fern while keeping the things we loved most about it — the quiet, the nature, the dark skies and the opportunity to escape the everyday.
We love sharing this special place with our guests and are happy to offer recommendations for local restaurants, trails, beaches and other things to explore. Whether you’re here for a romantic getaway, an outdoor adventure, a bikepacking trip or simply some time away from the everyday, we hope you’ll enjoy Field & Fern as much as we do.
